Victory! Cuyahoga County Council Passes LGBTQ-Inclusive Non-Discrimination Ordinance (Cleveland)

This is huge. My gay daughter can now teach here in Ohio. So while we may not have won the governorship, we did win on some important issues. This also offers protection to Trans-gender individuals as well.

Fellow Du'ers...WE WON THE HOUSE...BFD

We had to over-perform in order to win a still gerrymandered house. We did it!!! Let us rejoice that Trump's dictatorship is over. We have a check. Also we won what nine governorships. Heller is gone, Walker is gone-Pete Sessions is gone! Lizzie Fletcher won in Texas also! The blue wall is up again in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin too. It was a good night for us.

Cook shifts 8 House races toward Dems /blue wave coming!!!!

Cook Political Report on Tuesday shifted eight House races toward Democrats and two in favor of Republicans with 14 days to go before the midterm elections.

The nonpartisan election forecaster projected Democrats will have an edge in key swing districts following the party's massive fundraising haul in the third quarter of this year.

Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska), who is facing off against independent candidate Alyse Galvin, moved from “likely Republican” to “lean Republican” after a recent poll showed the challenger within 2 points of the incumbent.

Florida's 6th, 15th and 27th congressional districts — all are open seats — shifted toward Democrats, moving from "likely Republican" to "lean Republican," "lean Republican" to "toss-up" and "toss-up" to "lean Democrat," respectively.

Arizona's 8th Congressional District, represented by Rep. Debbie Lesko (R), changed from "solid Republican" to "likely Republican." Lesko, who won the special election to replace former Rep. Trent Franks (R) earlier this year, is looking at a rematch with Hiral Tipirneni (D), who came up short in the special election.

Tipirneni more than doubled Lesko's fundraising in the third quarter.

Separated migrant children are headed toward shelters that have a history of abuse and neglect

Read this article...it is truly horrifying. We are sending kids to monsters who will rape them, drug them and beat them.

"Homes with worst issues keep getting grants
A case in point is the Shiloh Treatment Center, a mobile home complex-turned-child care center. Located in rural Manvel, Texas, the center was founded in 1995 by Clay Dean Hill, who is now 69. In 2013, the resettlement agency began funding the shelter, sending more than $25 million in grants over five years.

In 2001, Stephanie Duffield, 16, died after being restrained by staff. Following her death, Shiloh was found to be “in compliance” with state requirements, according to the refugee resettlement office. Since then, Shiloh has been dogged by allegations of child abuse, leading Brazoria County’s district attorney, Jeri Yenne, to call for increased monitoring of the shelter.

Children have died at two other programs affiliated with Hill, Behavior Training Research Inc. and Daystar Residential Inc. Between 1993 and 2010, three children died after being restrained at those facilities. In 2002, Latasha Bush, 15, died from asphyxia. Eight years later, Michael Keith Owens, 16, died after being restrained inside a closet. Both were ruled homicides.

Daystar closed after Owens’ death. Behavior Training Research remains registered as an active domestic for-profit corporation.

Over the last three years, Texas inspectors found eight deficiencies at Shiloh, including poorly supervised medication inside the facility and overdue background check renewals for staff."

Gov. Cuomo says that the EA from Trump is bullshit...he says it can't be implemented because of the

law about incarcerating kids with parents...and it says nothing about the kids already taken...so those who said it was bullshit were right.

Thank you Democrats! Trump is ending his policy of kidnapping children and holding them for hostage

because of you. You stood firm and refused to yield to blackmail. He couldn't get his shitty bill through.Chuck and Nancy Thanks! Thank you CNN, MSNBC and all media who reported honestly on this story, you have saved children's lives. Thank you Rachel and Stephanie, you allowed your true sorrow and horror to show...and it was a powerful thing to see. Of course all of us who called and called should give ourselves a pat on the back. Once again we prove the power of a unity of purpose.
