Our country has some harsh times ahead of it

unless we start becoming a kinder, gentler, more WELL-FUNDED nation on the side of the people instead of on the "Overseers" - Defense, Prison and Military.

It is time to sink our hard earned taxes into rebuilding OUR nation. The noise machine would have you believe that the richest economy on earth cannot take care of its citizens, its seniors and its obligations in pensions.

And it cannot.

Not as long as GE, EXXON, Wal-Mart and every other corporation is sucking up the benefits of our infrastructure, our natural resources (looking at you, Nestle, stealing CA water for 25 years!?), while not paying a dime for it.

Raise the Social Security Cap.

Rebuild our infrastructure, failing bridges, water-mains and the like. The corporations are the biggest benefactors of them - how does Jeff Bezos ship things to your house? On a damn ROAD.

Tax the fuck out of them for a change and stop draining the hell out of the middle class. Infrastructure projects will do two things - keep us from becoming Somalia in 10 years, and OMG - give people jobs.

OMG - more people with jobs, means more money to be spent, but OMG, that means companies will have to start spending some more damn money to retain workers. Every area where there are plentiful jobs with higher wages has some little pissant industry that is trying to pay the same thing they paid last week, and are hanging on, but are going to lose business because of it.

It is NOT a healthy nation where we cut everything to the bare bones, then some idiot pontificates how we should cut more. The majority of businesses are feeling the pressure because the vast majority have no money to spend. Why? Because these huge conglomerates pay no taxes. You use our roads, drink our water, use our facilities, it is time you FUCKING PAY FOR THEM. They are not FREE, and neither are we as long as they rob us of the rightful due our citizens are due!

(Reposted from a response I made to a thread at the risk of being redundant. If it changes just one iota of a thing of where we are headed, I will risk being redundant).

And here is an addition: Wall Street. It's soaring. How long has it been since the last Wall Street crash? About 7 years.

Take a peak folks at how often a predictable cycle of Wall Street crash and burn has happened historically, and ask yourself if you honestly think we, the middle class, can sustain another one this time around.

What does late 2008 + 7 years = ?

Not hard to figure out.

OMG, I'm never going on youtube again

I was watching a video about politics, then I wandered into a recipe for salmon, I saw a parody flick about Game of Thrones and how Sandar Clagane likes chicken and the next thing I know, there was a video about POPPING zits.

OMG.

It's the DU curse of CHICKEN!

Dad is in the hospital

Had a testicular hernia - Peritonial?. Mom is with him, but if you have a moment and pray, please pray for my Dad. He's a good man. He's doing well, though.

Has anyone tried this? Put a celery core or a Romaine lettuce core

in water to let it regrow?

I'm not sure if this is really gardening, but I've tried it and here are the results:

That was *3* Days after I put it in water. Sitting next to it is a romaine lettuce heart.

Edit: Oh hell, wrong photo. Will post another.

"I want to tell my story", says a man who is miraculously hale after 66 days at sea

"I was stranded at sea, after we made our huge discovery of WMDs in Irag, and uncovered what might be the keystone to unlock how climate change truly is a hoax".

He is passionate, dedicated, and oddly not dessicated after 66 days in the wintery Atlantic, alone. He survived after plunging into 50 degree waters even after breaking his scapula (shoulder) by pushing his 35 foot boat upright 3 times over the course of his journey.

I'm Brian Williams, we'll see it in our next segment.

Executive of the US. That is the Federal President

Executive of the State. That is the Governor.

Everyone in the body politic votes for the head of the Republic, the Executive.

Federal, State, Local and County.

Everyone in the body politic of a state votes for the head as either the executive of the Commonwealth or a Governor, ... well, I'm from Louisiana that follows the Napoleonic Code and we are so convoluted we have Parishes instead of Counties. It works for us.

The point is that the other body politics are the legislative branches. The Governor is the Executive head in states, the Mayor is the head in mediating ideas amongst cities, the President is the head in mediating on the behalf of the American people among other nations.

We know.

We elected President Obama to do this for us. Not Senator Tom Cotton, Not Speaker Boehner, and not Senator Mitch McConnell. None of you have run your own respective railroads very well, why do you think you can run President Obamas?

The 47 are attempting to usurp the Executive branch - Mitch McConnell in particular

They are are despicable.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/a-rising-insurrection-against-obama/2015/04/03/d00e39f6-d94f-11e4-ba28-f2a685dc7f89_story.html

"Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told countries involved in negotiating a U.N.-brokered international climate change agreement that they should “proceed with caution” because of intransigent opposition to Obama’s efforts to significantly scale back U.S. carbon emissions. "

If that isn't undermining a sitting President of the United States, undermining the very office of the United States, and generally attempting a Senatorial coup, I don't know what is.

If they aren't censured by the 53 members of the Senate that haven't lost their damn minds, we are in deep trouble as a Democracy. Same goes for the House. I didn't vote for Mitch McConnell, Tom Cotton or John Boehner for President of the United States. I didn't vote for any of those bastards, because I don't reside in their states.

Why do they think they were elected to govern the US all of the sudden? Did I miss Civics class that stated that rookie Senators, Speaker of the House, and Senate Majority Leader suddenly means that there can be no representation of the People of the United States by THEIR Congressional Representatives and the Executive Branch can no longer act like the ... Executive Branch!?

Since when did Mitch McConnell, Tom Cotton or Speaker Boehner become Governor of the United States?
