Joe Biden's speech in North Carolina is a barn burner

That's a live link, don't know if it will be repeated after completion

Biden is really ripping Trump! Love these car attended rallies, lots of horn tooting.

Steve Schmidt's Tweet Thread A call to duty

Steve Schmidt
@SteveSchmidtSES

https://twitter.com/SteveSchmidtSES/status/1307524090983591936

Do Not Be Afraid. Do Not Tremble. Do Not Waiver. Do not doubt either the goodness of our people or the possibilities for our future. Do not let small men with tyranny and malice in their heart (@realDonaldTrump) or hypocrites with no core (@VP) make you afraid for our future

or of your countrymen and women. Do not let the fascists, racists and conspiracy theorists make you afraid of your neighbors or the strangers who could be your friend. We should all be grateful that we have been chosen by this rancid and dangerous hour to stand up and fight.

What we do now matters. Our Capitol is occupied by a cabal of small and low men and women who have betrayed all of us, the American experiment, their oaths and basic decency in service of a corrupt and malignant cult of personality that is vandalizing our principles, ideals,

Inheritance, future and fundamental goodness. 200,000 of our country men and women are dead. At least 150,000 of them could be alive but for Trump’s lethal lying and the immoral; supine complicity of his collaborators and enablers. Let us resolve to rise up and strike down

Trumpism. Let us put it down with righteous anger and fury. Let us resolve to never let this happen again. Let us do our duty as American citizens. Let us be conscious that we are called to safe action when we consider the blood, sacrifice and courage of ordinary people who

Stood their ground on a field in Lexington and Gettysburg. The men who stormed the beaches of Normandy and dropped from the skies over France to crush fascism are smiling at our cause. The men and women who taught the world the meaning of the words “human dignity” as they

Protested segregation, absorbed the beatings and marched across the Edmund Pettus bridge are watching and judging us. We are in the right and for the right. We are fighting for the good. Trumpism is UNAMERICAN. It is illiberal, demagogic, dishonest, cruel, corrupt and disgusting

Let us strike it down. We will. Vote. @ProjectLincoln @JoeBiden @votevets @actblue @RVAT2020 @crookedmedia @prioritiesUSA
@PodSaveAmerica @PaulBegala @JamesCarville @davidplouffe @davidaxelrod. Have joy in this fight. RBG is with her husband again. She is arguing with Scalia

and meeting Washington and Lincoln. Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglas are there. Susan b Anthony is there and so is Elise Wiesel. A great champion of freedom has arrived in heaven. Her work is done. Her burden is now our’s. Let us honor her legacy by doing our duty.

@ProjectLincoln
FIGHT, REGISTER, VOTE. I DISSENT are the most American of words. Thank you Madame Justice. May your memory be a blessing. We all know that it is.

"When people tell you who they are, believe them the first time."

Oh, the tales I could tell.

But I'll settle for writing that quote down so I remember it.

And ... international capitalists financed and supplied Hitler to make money. Nazi Germany was viewed as a good investment. This was not known after the war very much. Governments wanted to hush things up for obvious reasons. In the 1960s it leaked into a few books. Then more in the 1980s. Now it's readily available. Didn't we supply Hitler with leaded fuel? Trucks? Tires for awhile?

As US and Soviet armies converged on Berlin, both countries wanted German technology, scientists, engineering. We enlsited former Nazi organization members as spy networks for the Cold War. They were the remaining levers of surveillance in the country. NASA's space program? Lots of German rocket scientists there.

I find books about the period fascinating. "Churchill's Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare". Nigel Hamilton's trilogy of FDR at war. Jean Edward Smith and Robert Dallek, same subject.

I learn more off well-selected YouTube and Open Culture than I did in most college courses

There's a part of me that says, democracy is when the last 3% who pay no attention to the public good, are swayed by big money and decide elections, so you have the dumbest steering the ship.

College is where the ignorant congregate to learn something which wasn't learned by the teachers who would be out doing something important if they had learned something. And if they do know anything, they don't want to tell you because they're afraid you might steal it and make something more of it than they ever could. Oh, and keep paying them, just like you pay doctors and mechanics for their knowledge every time you need something.

Elite schools are for snobbery and little else.

So you want anti-intellectualism, there it is. If you go to college, try to learn something in spite of it. Find a guru who is quietly successful in life and seek guidance, because the self-made know far more than those who operate the system. They know to excel, deliver alpha as investors would say, you need to understand the system and find a niche to exploit. That is very hard these days with so many mediiocre degrees walking around. 1950s to 1980s, degrees were an advantage. Now they're just a driver's license.

Trump rejects globalism but seeks foreign help to win elections

It doesn't get much more hypocritical than that.

And few are mentioning it. In fact, it's a buried interpretation.

To paint with a broad brush and define our moment

Every power grab in history has ended in an abrupt change in government. It's what historians are missing. It's not just the revolutions and the wars, it's minor skirmishes too. The European Revolutions of 1848, democratic revolts in Italy, Bourbon depositions, Glorious Revolution of 1688, Solidarity, Depressions. Concentration of power squeezes the people. Our Founders thought they had divided power permanently, fractured it temporally, geographically, institutionally, politically with division of legislative, judicial, executive power, time counts, elections, parallel judicial hierarchies, internal mechanisms for revision. But still they came for the power. Our system is everything it was designed to be, but it depended on wise patriots large and small, and an informed citizenry. They didn't realize the extent to which the populace would swallow lies fed them by elites determined to grab the power. Or the extent of concentrated economic power that could be used to exploit and plunder.

This is it. It's all on the table. Hunker down, talk it up with your fellow citizens if any are undecided. Ask the MAGAtzis what they plan to do when power is concentrated against them, in elected offices, in courts, in enforcement, and against their rights. Ask them. That is the question to which the MAGAtzis are blinded. They think nothing is bad as long as they can vent their hatred against their perceived enemy, the dreaded Liberals. Do they like freedom of worship? Stable currency? Independent movement? Ask them. Ask every one of them. Because it's all on the table in 2020.

the U.S. global order is in peril

the decline of the United States has begun

chilling.

This second video is perhaps the most important, in my opinion, of this year. This is where it's all going, this is what's on the line, this what we're fearing and fighting and not getting any help from the GOP

Forget "Where's Melania?" this is now "Where are the Eagles?"

Trump DISinvites Philadelphia Eagles!

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/philadelphia-eagles-white-house-super-bowl-trump_us_5b15c73fe4b0129b529d357f

President Donald Trump rescinded an invitation for the Philadelphia Eagles to visit the White House on Tuesday to celebrate their Super Bowl victory.

“They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country,” Trump said in a statement. “The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.”

He said the fans would still be welcome at the White House on Tuesday but for a different ceremony meant to “honor our great country” and “pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it.”

Several Eagles players, including safety Malcolm Jenkins and defensive end Chris Long, had said they would skip the ceremony while others had waffled on their participation. Eagles officials had left the decision up to the players.
