I'm so evil:

November 18, 2014

My dad got me started on this album in elementary school.

Listened to it so many times, it's hard wired in my head.

Well, they weren't in 2012:

Quite a production there...

Conservapedia is just plain evil. Putinpedia will have a loyal fan base. Maybe videos:

That's for those who like rap or blowing things up. There are some made to appeal to women:

Vladimir Putin's Divorce: The Russian President Is Officially A Single Man

By Nick Robins-Early - 04/03/2014

Almost a year after announcing their split in a stilted scene at the Grand Kremlin Palace, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his wife Lyudmila have finalized their divorce. The duo were married for 30 years and have two children together, though Putin's official biography on the presidential website no longer makes any mention of Lyudmila.

The news marks perhaps the final chapter in the hushed but turbulent drama of Putin's personal life. Rumors long circulated of a rift between the Russian strongman and his seldom-seen wife. The Kremlin regularly issued denials of such gossip, and Putin himself denied marital troubles, telling Italian reporters there was "not a single word of truth" in the speculation and that he had contempt for those whose "erotic fantasies prowl into others' lives..."

The latest development points to the newly single President Putin now being the world's most powerful bachelor, a title that jells with the virile outdoorsman persona he has publicly cultivated for years. Evenso, a few hurdles to dating the World's Most Powerful Person may stand in the way for potential matches, starting with his much-rumored surreptitious liaisons with a former Olympic gymnast.

Of course, Putin rarely allows much interfere with getting what he wants. Just ask Ukraine.*

*In his defense, he likely thinks he's doing a great thing for his country...

I think that's a better map than I was going to post earlier:

Where the world's 30 million slaves live

Share of each country's population that is enslaved. Data source: Walk Free Global Slavery Index. (Max Fisher/ Washington Post)

We think of slavery as a practice of the past, an image from Roman colonies or 18th-century American plantations, but the practice of enslaving human beings as property still exists. There are 29.8 million people living as slaves right now, according to a comprehensive new report issued by the Australia-based Walk Free Foundation.

This is not some softened, by-modern-standards definition of slavery. These 30 million people are living as forced laborers, forced prostitutes, child soldiers, child brides in forced marriages and, in all ways that matter, as pieces of property, chattel in the servitude of absolute ownership. Walk Free investigated 162 countries and found slaves in every single one. But the practice is far worse in some countries than others.

The country where you are most likely to be enslaved is Mauritania. Although this vast West African nation has tried three times to outlaw slavery within its borders, it remains so common that it is nearly normal. The report estimates that four percent of Mauritania is enslaved – one out of every 25 people. (The aid group SOS Slavery, using a broader definition of slavery, estimated several years ago that as many as 20 percent of Mauritanians might be enslaved.)...

A few trends are immediately clear from the map up top. First, rich, developed countries tend to have by far the lowest rates of slavery. The report says that effective government policies, rule of law, political stability and development levels all make slavery less likely. The vulnerable are less vulnerable, those who would exploit them face higher penalties and greater risk of getting caught. A war, natural disaster or state collapse is less likely to force helpless children or adults into bondage. Another crucial factor in preventing slavery is discrimination. When society treats women, ethnic groups or religious minorities as less valuable or less worthy of protection, they are more likely to become slaves...

There are 60,000 in the U.S. which barely shows up on the map, but still, that's too much.

Remember Jack Abrahoff with his utopia? And his friends Delay, Armey and Nordquist?

We are being hit with tlobbying from their pals the Libertarians, Koch brothers, etc.

Yet he's back again and is suggested to be part of a reform group with the not so original idea of ending corruption in campaign finances. Claims it's all a new idea, along with some CATO and Tea Party people. C'mon, pull my other finger...

There's a pattern with the Messiah meme. Is it dangerous being a straw dog?

The phrase 'straw dogs' is drawn from the Tao Te Ching, and refers to ceremonial objects of ancient China, carefully prepared and used in ritual (with great reverence), and then thrown away like rubbish...

http://www.suprmchaos.com/bcEnt-Sun-091811.index.html

That's a negative sense, as people are fickle and put all their own failures upon leaders. Taken in a positive sense, it's okay:

In Ancient China, they used real dogs at one time to make ceremonial sacrifices. (This was a long time ago, people. A far more barbaric time than today…) One day, someone brilliantly decided to substitute straw dogs for real ones. (Yeah! Progress!) So, apparently, these straw dogs were ritualized and honored. If you have ever really looked closely at sacrificial rights, the item being sacrificed, if done properly, is extremely respected for giving its life for the sake of the people. (Does this sound familiar?) Staying on that vein, I think that is why Jesus accepted his fate so willingly. He knew he was really a straw dog. It was all cool to him. He knew that the form of his body was not what it was really all about. He knew that it was his spirit that meant something and he was willing to sacrifice his form to prove it.

If you read Chapter 5 of the Tao Te Ching, you will see that Lao Tzu was referencing the straw dogs to explain how our form is really just a superficial (and therefore meaningless) form of who we really are. After the ritual, the straw dogs are tossed in the dirt. Does this mean that we do not appreciate what those dogs represented? No. It means that we truly understand that what those dogs represented has nothing to do with form, so we toss the form.

No, he's against pumpkins, was my take on it. Progressives aren't pure, they're much too complex.

Besides, we're way past Halloween so I'll take the winter holiday meme.

So I gotta get baking, I'm freezing here...

That's good. I was expecting something vintage. Warning: Large Pictures:

Glad your picture was in color. Nazis were a big thing in 1937.

Yes, that is a Swastika on the Hindenburg as it flies over NYC. It also flew over Boston, New Jersey and to a US Naval Station.

Trigger Warning if one goes to the link. Photos, some victims and those who escaped injury. The USA and Germany were getting along then:

Later, Germany showed its true colors.
