freshwest's JournalFemale anchor confronts Ron Paul over plan for women to quit work en masse and home school
By David Edwards - September 19, 2013
BBC anchor Katty Kay on Thursday asked former Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) if his libertarian plan to have 20 percent of children home schooled made sense because so many women would have to drop out of the work force, but the former congressman insisted that even a woman living at a shelter with two jobs could find a way to do it if she worked hard enough.
During an interview on MSNBCs Morning Joe to promote his book, The School Revolution, Paul said he wanted to offer families an education alternative that emphasized the importance of the individual versus, you know, everybody coming together.
I want people to be able to home school their children, he remarked. Not everybody, this is designed to pick out the leaders who want to. And maybe 20 percent might be interested in doing this. But these would be leaders who would be talking about running for Congress and understand why the Federal Reserve is a problem...
Theres going to be choices to be made and some people will go out of their way for their children, he continued. I saw an article yesterday of a woman working two jobs and she was living in a shelter and she couldnt pay her bills because her cost of living goes up much faster than wages. Thats another characteristic of this monetary system. So, that is a consequence, why they have to work.
But if people really want to get it done, they can.

The reason for the attack on women's rights outside the home, their education, wages and health care to determine when to have a family is right there. Be barefoot and pregnant at home and take care of the children the husband demands of you and don't complain if you're abused.
If a woman can't carry to term and dies, well, it's Gawd's Will©. And they'd better keep busy at home, because there won't be any place for them and their kids but slave labor.
This is the GOP job plan for Americans. Remove women from the work force, permanently, to live under the whim of their spouse, no matter if he's a good husband or not. It's all a woman is good for?
Libertarianism is not about civil liberties. It's right wing and fascist. And I'm sure this thread showing the face of the Pauls and their ideological pals will sink like a stone. Meh. You were warned, America.
Well, you see, it's like this:
John McCain feels a little lonely from time to time because nobody wants to attack SyriaBy Bandit - September 16, 2013
Forever Alone
Rapidly approaching his 80th birthday (2016 when his term ends) and undecided whether to seek another term in the Senate, John McCain (RWNJ-AZ) told Mike Brzezinski during an interview on MSNBC that he felt a little lonely from time to time because most of his colleagues did not want to use U.S. military force against President Bashar al-Assads forces in Syria.
Comparing himself to Harry Truman (??) McCain insisted, If Harry Truman had bowed to public opinion, the world would be a very different place if we lost in Korea He continued There are times when leaders have to stand up. And, frankly, when others have to say what they believe. And if it costs you politically as you know, I had some very interesting town hall meetings back in Arizona. But thats what youre supposed to do.
McCain added, Theres no good options here, but to do nothing, I think, is the worst option. And I hope that we have not sent a message to people all over the world that that including our adversaries and bad people that we are not willing to do the right thing.
Raw Story reports, On Sunday during an interview with NBC, John McCain asserted that that an agreement between the United States and Russia that met President Barack Obamas goal of securing Syrias chemical weapons without being drawn into a war was a loser.

No, he should be the new Czar of the Holy Russian Empire. Everyone loves Putin!
You can always count on me to *go there* for you. I know some Russians who think it's time to go back to the future. Or the past, as the present is confusing.
Quit fooling around Putin! As we say at the DU, 'I, for one, welcome our new ______ overlords.' Fill in the blank.
Some want Putin as a hero, others don't. I'm neutral on Vladimir, full steam ahead on Barack, totally repelled by Rand.
Michael Praed is someone's hero. He even kept his shirt on, see?
GASP joins LGBT activists calling PBO a hero? Or is it more Animal Farm?
BTW, intriguing photoshop. Or is it?Well said by Mr Ruffalo. K & R. Please note what the GOP is doing here:
If Obamacare Fails, Women LoseOn average, insurance companies charge women 50 percent more than men for the same coverage. Obamacare will make that discrimination illegalunless Republicans manage to thwart the law...
It doesnt end there. In 2011 alone, women enrolled in Medicare saved $1.2 billion as a result of improvements in prescription drug coverage. Who knew that the Republicans actually like the idea of $1.2 billion in new taxes to be imposed on the backs of women?
In an effort to thwart Obamacare, Republicans are trying to enable insurance companies to deny coverage to people with preexisting conditions. Women have often been on the losing end of insurers' whims. C-sections, breast and cervical cancers and even medical treatment for domestic or sexual abuse have been considered pre-existing conditions. This type of discrimination against women should be illegaland it will be starting next year thanks to Obamacare.
If Republicans had their way, more than 26.9 million women would be charged expensive co-pays and deductibles for preventive services like life-saving breast and cervical cancer screenings, birth control and well-woman visits. By opposing the Affordable Care Act, Republicans are supporting insurers to place lifetime caps on insurance for nearly 40 million women, thereby preventing coverage just when many women need it most. They also seek to eliminate health care for 1.1 million young women between the ages of 19 and 25 who now have access to health care under their parents' health insurance coverage.

Stop the EXTORTION of human rights by the GOP threatening to starve, kill and degrade Americans in October. DU needs to rally to stop discrimination and save lives.
Obama and all the Democrats knew what it was just as we did all along. He knows the monsters in DC.
Naturally, the media will not give him any credit for standing up for the ones most affected, as he always has done. The poor, elderly, disabled; those in need of a job, food, a home or healthcare do not have the leisure to bloviate for tens of millions of dollars as most of the worst of the shills. Those people are invisible, not in their class or whatever. But dammit if we didn't show up and vote, and we'll do it again.
For the BOG: Obama Is A Blessing.
A Mother's Promise: Barack's Biography
Uploaded on Oct 3, 2008
A biography of Barack Obama that played at the 2008 Democratic National Convention, prior to Barack's acceptance speech.
Take a few moments and be thankful for what we have been given, all of us, by this man, and so many others.
Also Michelle explains the very moment she fell in love with Barack. It would have made me fall in love with him, too.
We are blessed at this moment in time. I cannot be made to feel ashamed of this man.
Obama has not changed course, he remains true to his vision, which is his strength.
Hope you enjoy the video, my fellow members of the BOG.
BOG
NOTICE: This is the BOG, or Barack Obama Group for the supporters of the President. You know the drill. TIA.
Yes, it is! More respect and lifting up people without a media voice...
I was mentioning to someone today how his mother had to fight insurance company.
He said she was filling out paperwork instead of being able to rest to get better from cancer.
So many stories like this.
Our president really gets what is going on in the lives of regular people.
Thanks, Obama!
I love it! It's the Libertarian and Rand Paul solution to policing, too.
Got video of him with rifle toting men standing at the ready, joking how he does nott need police, since he has private security. So if you can't afford it, you're at the mercy of gunmen.
Which is what happens without UHC or someone willing to be a decent human being. You go to the ER with a crisis that denies your ability to communicate and sign papers, and you're SOL. When the focus should be getting better. We're just brainwashed to think this is civilized here.
A home catches on fire (an example applauded by conservative media) and if you're not up to date on the private fire department dues, they literally stand around and watch it burn.
Just like they did in the days of ancient Rome, where you'd get service if you paid a bribe, else the people who could put it out would buy the land after the home was gone.
That's what privatization and lack of a public spirit is about in any endeavor. Squeezing those in a bind till the last drop of blood.
Hendrix, you just put that in a way that cut through the lies. Sorry I can't access the rest of your work, seems there's a glitch somewhere.
Your point that we can overcome with registration was proven in 2012, with media against us...
Remember how it went down on election night last November. The GOP was stunned to learn of an invisible voting block that did not live in their conservative infomercial universe. One that lived out of their sight, the real life Democratic Underground:

Fox News Resorts to Race-Baiting, and White Boards, on Election Night
Election night, before the results come in, is awfully dull on cable news. Anchors desperate to fill the air resort to factoids about where, for instance, the most pickup trucks in the country are sold and What It Means. (Virginia, for the record, per MSNBC. What it means remains to be seen.) On Fox, the factoids were less automotively focused. Independents are breaking for Romney in most states, Michael Barone told Megyn Kelly at 7:24 p.m., before anyone had broken for much of anything, really. There, as everywhere, it was mostly a waiting game. We have to wait and see how many white men turn out," Kristen Powers said.
Results began to come in that were unfavorable to Romney. Powers revised her urgency. They need more white people voting, basically. Suffragettes, even...
Its not a traditional America anymore. There are fifty percent of the voting public who want stuff. They want things. Who is going to give them things? President Obama. He knows it and he ran on it... Twenty years ago, President Obama would have been roundly defeated by an establishment candidate like Mitt Romney. The white establishment is now the minority. And the voters, many of them, feel that economic system is stacked against them and they want stuff. You are going to see Hispanics vote for President Obama, overwhelming for President Obama, and women will probably break President Obamas way.
Stuff. Those welfare mothers in their Cadillacs sure have been driving around for a long time looking for stuff...

I won't even go into the wailing from Glennbeckistan about it. But this article always gives me a big old happy. Yes, I am evil:
My Ten Favorite Kinds of Right-Wing Temper Tantrums
I remember how I felt when George W. Bush was reelected in 2004that pit of absolute unthinkable, desparate despairand so I guess I should have a little more sympathy for the 150 Million Waaahmbulances of the Apocalypse currently flailing all over Twitter. And, beyond that, I should probably be sad about the overt racism of our conservative youngsters and frightened at the gun-nuttiness of our gun nuts.
However. At least for right now, I AM NOT. I am just 99% completely fucking delighted by every single weepy right-wing temper tantrum. I can't stop hate-reading. I can't stop. And you know what?
I don't need to stop. It's not like this was some arbitrary election for Homecoming Courtwhere we were choosing between Mitt Romney's totally on-trend bangs and Barack Obama's ability to pull off a structured blazer.
The party that my team defeated on Tuesday was a nebulous, fiscally disastrous pitchfork mobunited by racism, xenophobia, self-interest, willful ignorance, hatred of the poor, and a puritanical desire to deny my gay friends their civil rights and me, PERSONALLY, equal access to health care and basic humanity. That's about as ungracious as it gets. So fuck being gracious.
