Thanks for more of how the money figures in. And it will be tougher in Ukraine this winter.

Do you think all this, no matter how it was presented in political or othe terms, was inevitable due to decreasing resources and increasing social responsibilities?

IMO, that's how the oligarchs see these things and it determines how they will act on it. They have the hard data to make projections that average people don't have.

With privatization of resources and media, the less information the public receives for informed decisions. They are fed stories, often more fantastic everyday to keep them out of the way of the oligarchs who create 'the news.'

Yet this maniac still represents 27,194,258 Texans.

Being a United States Senator is a much more powerful position than a governor on the national stage. Governors can do upfront damage to one state, Senators can hurt all the states. Cruz shot right up to the top and is in no danger of being put out of office.

Expect him to run for POTUS before it's all over. Only saving grace is that Cruz and Christie wouldn't run together as a team, they'd both insist being top of the team. Still looking at the piss ant varmint turned termite Rand Paul for the GOP top spot.

Putin - Palin would make a better team. The GOP requires a father figure and Sarah's their Madonna:

All may not be lost. Another case of property vs. people had unexpected consequences:

Dred Scott

Dred Scott (circa 1799 – September 17, 1858) was a slave in the United States who unsuccessfully sued for his freedom and that of his wife and their two daughters in the Dred Scott v. Sandford case of 1857, popularly known as the "Dred Scott Decision." The case was based on the fact that although he and his wife Harriet Scott were slaves, they had lived with his master, Dr. John Emerson, in states and territories where slavery was illegal according to both state laws and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, including Illinois and Minnesota (which was then part of the Wisconsin Territory).

The United States Supreme Court decided 7–2 against Scott, finding that neither he nor any other person of African ancestry could claim citizenship in the United States, and therefore Scott could not bring suit in federal court under diversity of citizenship rules. Moreover, Scott's temporary residence outside Missouri did not bring about his emancipation under the Missouri Compromise, which the court ruled unconstitutional as it would improperly deprive Scott's owner of his legal property.

While Chief Justice Roger B. Taney had hoped to settle issues related to slavery and Congressional authority by this decision, it aroused public outrage and deepened sectional tensions between the northern and southern U.S. states. President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, and the post-Civil War Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth amendments nullified the decision...

As to those unexpected results:

Following the ruling, Scott and his family were returned to Emerson's widow. In the meantime, her brother John Sanford had been committed to an insane asylum.

In 1850, Irene Sanford Emerson had remarried. Her new husband, Calvin C. Chaffee, was an abolitionist, who shortly after their marriage was elected to the U.S. Congress. Chaffee was apparently unaware that his wife owned the most prominent slave in the United States until one month before the Supreme Court decision. By then it was too late for him to intervene. Chaffee was harshly criticized for having been married to a slaveholder. He persuaded Irene to return Scott to the Blow family, his original owners. By this time, the Blow family had relocated to Missouri and become opponents of slavery. Henry Taylor Blow manumitted the four Scotts on May 26, 1857, less than three months after the Supreme Court ruling...

The Dred Scott Case ended the prohibition of slavery in federal territories and prohibited Congress from regulating slavery anywhere, overturning the Missouri compromise, enabling "popular sovereignty", and bloody Kansas.[9]

The ruling of the court helped catalyze sentiment for Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation and the three constitutional amendments ratified shortly after the Civil War: the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth amendments, abolishing slavery, granting former slaves citizenship, and conferring citizenship to anyone born in the United States (excluding those subject to a foreign power such as children of foreign ambassadors).[9]

Interesting that his case arose in the region where Paul Ryan has called for the elimination of those three Constitutional amendments. He claims when the GOP control enough state legislatures they'll call a Constitutional Convention and re-write it. As a Koch lackey, we know pretty much what the new Constitution will look like. Remarks by the GOP show it, too.

Good advice to those who depress the vote, if they really do care about equality. The willfully

ignorant claim they don't know what Democrats stand for! Really?

All they're saying is they never took time to listen to what we stand for:

Kos says voter registration is part of the information handed out by the ACA canvassers.

Perhaps Planned Parenthood did:

Planned Parenthood ACA Outreach

Published on Mar 31, 2014

The Affordable Care Act is one of the greatest advancements for women's health in a generation. As the leading women's health care provider and advocate, Planned Parenthood fought hard for the law's passage, and now we are working to make sure our patients and the communities we serve know about their new health care options.

In just a few months, Planned Parenthood reached out to over 1,560,000 people and had more than 300,000 conversations about health insurance.

So did Bill Maher. He defined the reason Democrats exist. We have a mission:

In The Great Divide Between Democrats and Republicans, Some Words From Bill Maher To Remember...

"Democrats in America were put on Earth to do one thing... drag the ignorant, hillbilly half of this country into the next century, which in their case, is the 19th."

Time to smack down the neverending hypocrisy of the GOP and all of their enablers:

Kyl’s proposed amendment embodied the conservative view:

The Affordable Care Act that passed Congress in 2010 is an unacceptable intrusion into the private decisions of American families and businesses.

But the faux pro-life GOP with their insurance company death panels, Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, WIC and CHIP cutting ways; with their unmitigated hatred for women, the poor, disabled, elderly and children are never in favor of people, particularly women and LGBT, having any privacy!

Instead, Obamacare is preserving our right to private decisions and to save lives:

Pregnant women, across the country and anywhere along the income spectrum, will for the first time have guaranteed access to health insurance offering a minimum standard of care that will help keep their babies alive.

And to save the lives of mothers, too:

Thanks for bringing this link to how Obamacare is letting us join the first world at last...

Just a little trip down memory lane on this:

Keeping His Promises to the Poor and Vulnerable: Thank You, President Obama!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/11028481

Relaying the story of a woman with cancer in this video was fitting since he lost his own mother to that disease, and wanted better for other women:

"I remember my mother."

http://www.democraticunderground.com/110219099

Obama also mentioned Planned Parenthood, to which he has been a firm supporter against the stunts of Rand Paul, the most vocal on cutting funding and trying to force personhood bills on the nation as a whole.

It is for good reason Obama is called the First Feminist President:

The First Feminist President, Barack Obama

http://www.democraticunderground.com/110212801

Speaking for America in the video:

"In the end, history is not kind to those who deny Americans basic economic security. Nobody remembers well those who stand in the way of America's progress or our people. That's what the Affordable Care Act represents."

That is the change we hoped for and received. Single payer is in the ACA for 2017, to which he alludes by referring to simplifying in the speech. We are moving ahead. I won't go into the numerous talks I am having with all kinds of health providers and patients, and those who work to keep safe the poor, elderly and disabled, who have been breathing and sleeping better since the ACA passed.

And his comments about medical bankruptcies and losing one's home, I can witness to that humiliation, and the feeling being valued as an equal human being again when needed healthcare is no longer in jeopardy from circumstances beyond one's control. When one has lost, and lost big time despite paying for health insurance and 'doing all the right things,' lost to the schemes the for-profits have foisted on us for so long, I know Obama's heart is with the people of this country.

One of the first signs of being kicked out of the middle class is to lose insurance and be unable to pay for that which so many take for granted. A person who has major health issues will be economically disadvantaged in all ways, and the GOP is intent on impoverishing people by obstructing their care. Those who have never been tested in that way, may never need to get a plan through the ACA, but their lives will still be better too.

Note that he added another 3 million of young people who are on their parents' policies...

And didn't even add the Medicaid expansion, which has been huge where it was allowed! So there are really more than 10 million!
