Tell 'em about this thing here... Bring a mop...

Pope Francis blessed the 'Jesus the Homeless' sculpture:

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- A year ago, Timothy Schmalz's bronze sculpture "Jesus the Homeless" had been rejected by St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York and St. Michael's Cathedral in Toronto.

But in late November, Pope Francis blessed the sculpture at one of his weekly general audiences in front of thousands of eager pilgrims. The pontiff touched the knee of the sculpture and prayed for a few moments. Afterward, he told Schmalz he thought the sculpture was a "beautiful piece of art."

When Schmalz saw Pope Francis touch the sculpture, he said, "I thought well that's just it, this sculpture is symbolically representing what he's doing. He's out there touching the homeless people; he's reaching out to them every single day."

Appropriately, "Jesus the Homeless" may have found a permanent home in Rome, very close to the Vatican. The plan is for the sculpture to be placed close to the Vatican Radio offices near the Tiber River in memory of a homeless woman who slept there every night before dying outside in the cold...

to grits.

Do they support public funding for housing for the homeless, food stamps, unemployment benefits to keep people becoming homeless?

And there's the Bible verse:

Jesus said to him: The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. ~ Luke 9:58

I've read some conservative revision of Jesus that say his being a carpenter meant he was well off, also that he had a robe made of one piece showed he was wealthy. Uh, huh...

The idea of a hungry, homeless man is an offense to them, they can't tell the truth about Jesus. They want to judge and abuse.

And Jesus was, dare we say, giving out that free food and free healthcare. I'd say the jig is up.

Oh, and there are some mighty fine verses in the Old Testamant to thump them with... About not mistreating the 'alien' within your borders, as you (the Hebrews) were aliens.

They are in trouble now.

The mathematics show it's Atheists 2, Hagee 0. The grifter needs to know he's seriously outranked:

Religious do not have monopoly on virtue, Queen tells synod

by Riazat Butt - 23 November 2010

...People of faith do not have a monopoly on virtue as British society was now "more diverse and secular", the Queen told the Church of England today in an address to its governing body.

Speaking at Church House, central London, she told members of General Synod that believers and atheists were equally able to contribute to the prosperity and wellbeing of the country.

The Queen, who is supreme governor of the Church of England, said: "In our more diverse and secular society, the place of religion has come to be a matter of lively discussion. It is rightly acknowledged that people of faith have no monopoly of virtue and that the wellbeing and prosperity of the nation depend on the contribution of individuals and groups of all faiths and none."

But, recalling the words of Pope Benedict XVI from his UK visit last September, she said churches "and the other great faith traditions" retained the potential to inspire "great enthusiasm, loyalty and a concern for the common good".

The new Pope has weighed in, too:

Pope Francis says Atheists are good if they ‘do good’

by Robyn Pennacchia • Dec 23, 2013

Pope Francis continued down the road of awesomeness this weekend with an especially existentialist statement regarding non-believers in his papal homily this Sunday:

He told the story of a Catholic who asked a priest if even atheists had been redeemed by Jesus.

“Even them, everyone,” the pope answered, according to Vatican Radio. “We all have the duty to do good,” he said.

“Just do good, and we’ll find a meeting point,” the pope said in a hypothetical conversation in which someone told a priest: “But I don’t believe. I’m an atheist...”

Good enough for the Queen of England and the Pope. I'm not worried what Haggee thinks. But if anyone has seen his television show, it's full of brainwashed sheep who drool over his every word. It's a cult of personality like Beck, and so many other RWNJs. That's okay, the world will move forward without them.

Yes, that pic is bittersweet. I recall the reason given for the rock group 'The Police' to quit:

There was an interview with the lead singer, Sting,. He said after they had completed their 1983 Synchronicity tour in America, the experience was such a high point spiritually, nothing could compare. Thus he took a break.

He wanted to hold onto that high point of his life. There are special moments or places in life, things we have achieved, that will never be repeated. We used call moments like that 'a slice of heaven' and we don't want to sully the memory.

Obama was savoring the moment after a hard fought campaign, after 4 years of having the gates of hell opened on him to test his mettle, and still able to hold onto his vision.

At the end of one interview soon after the inaugurations, he remarked on how many days he had left to serve. He is very aware of his time in office limitations.

He intends to do the best he can with every day. That is life well lived, total awareness, something sorely lacking with most people. I am glad to have lived in this era, despite all the fear and anger and pain.

I already miss him, although I am still loving every morning when I wake up and Barack Obama is president!

Love Song by Elton John and Lesley Duncan, a duet from the album Tumbleweeds:

Enjoy the music and the message:

Love Song

Words I have to say may well be simple
But they're true
Until you give your love
There's nothing more that we can do

Love is the opening door
Love is what we came here for
No one could offer you more
Do you know what I mean?
Have your eyes really seen?

You say,
"It's very hard to leave behind the life we knew."
There's no other way
And now it's really up to you

'Cause love is the key we must turn
And truth is the flame we must burn
Freedom - the lesson we must learn
Do you know what i mean?
Have your eyes really seen?

La la la la la la
La la la la la la

Love is the opening door
Love is what we came here for
No one would offer you more
Do you know what I mean?
Have your eyes really seen?

Do you know what I mean?
Have your eyes really seen?

Love is the opening door
Love is what we came here for
No one would offer you more

Do you know what I mean?
Have your eyes really seen?

I believe Equality only springs from one place, which is the heart that loves others as itself. We must be willing to open our hearts to all humanity.

If one cannot bring oneself to give to others what one wants for oneself, or if we cannot unite to do the same thing, inequality will destroy our world.

We are all together on a small planet surrounded by an uncaring environment we cannot live in. This is home. We have been given a great gift to be here for a while and be a part of this moment in space and time.
