My smoke alarms all went off at 3:30 this morning

We looked into every corner of the house, no smoke, no fire. Hubby checked the attic to verify that the furnace was okay.

7 1/2 hours later, still no smoke, no fire. We dunno what the hell happened.

Aaaarrggh! I feel dirty having to tear off the address listing "my name or current resident" on it for the shredder.

Embedded tweets no longer show up

Up until a couple days ago, embedded tweets started showing only as

"Link to Twitter."

Yes, I can click on the link and get to the tweet, but I can't see it unless I do.

If this is part of the ongoing maintenance, cool. If not, what can I do to fix it? I use Slimjet browser (slimmed down Chrome).

And now Midland

I moved away from MI more than 20 years ago, but my family still lives there so any news catches my eye right away.

I've never even been to Midland but this reduces me to tears. I grew up watching TV stations that announced their call letters and the area they served: "Flint, Saginaw, Bay City, Midland" so it's like it is part of my home town. The same with the shooting of the Family Dollar - I've never been there, it was built after I left, but I have a connection in spite of that. I saw the horrific aftermath when Vassar flooded and drowned many years ago.

This is shouting into the wind, but I really wish that Michigan would stop making the national news.
