Alex Jones Just Lost Custody Of His Three Children

The victims of Alex Jones’ reckless conspiracy theories now include the Infowars founder himself. After nine and a half hours of deliberation, a jury gave Jones’ ex-wife Kelly the right to determine the residence of their three children.

“Mr. Jones is like a cult leader,” Mrs. Jones’ attorney, Robert Huffman, explained to the the jury. “And we’ve seen the horrific damage cult leaders do to their followers.”

The ten-day custody hearing made headlines days ago when Mr. Jones’ lawyer revealed that he would be defending his client’s incendiary speech as “performance art.” His many extremist views include groundless theories about the Sandy Hook massacre of school children and date back as far as his unfounded assertions of government involvement in 9/11 and the Oklahoma City bombing.

In 2011, Mr. Jones received unwanted attention when the public learned that the Tucson murderer who shot Congresswoman Gabby Giffords (D-AZ) in the head was a fan of the shock jock’s work. More recently he found notoriety when news leaked that President Trump was an avid listener and even calls Jones for advice.

Memo Tells Writers Guild Captains to Be Ready to Strike Tuesday

With contract negotiations going down to the wire, leaders of the Writers Guild of America have been laying the groundwork for a strike action on Tuesday.

“Be ready to strike Tuesday May 2. If you’ve left anything great in your office on a studio lot, consider packing it up on Monday – just in case,” said a memo sent to strike captains.

Picketing will take place at eight studios in three shifts a day, according to the memo. The missive recaps a meeting held by the captains on Saturday and quotes Chris Keyser — one of the three chairmen of the WGA negotiating committee.

“We know this is anxiety producing,” Keyser said in the memo. “We’re asking everyone to live in the anxiety with us for the next few days.”

The WGA held hundreds of pickets and rallies during the 2007-08 strike. Several thousand members and supporters attended a rally at Fox Plaza and a march on Hollywood Boulevard.

Donald Trump Has a Coke Button in the Oval Office

We’ve lived through nearly 100 days of the Trump presidency and we have a thousand more to go. During these first three months we, as a nation, have been compelled to spend a lot of time with Donald Trump. Listening to him. Watching him. Hearing from him as he weighs in—shudder—on global events. During his early days as a politician, we also got to explore the inner Donald—the man beneath the cumulus of hair. We’ve explored his passions (golf), his likes (fast food), and his dislikes (appropriately cooked steaks). It’s a growing corpus of reporting that has allowed readers to dive a little deeper in the baby pool that is our current president.

This week, we got another insight into Trump and the creature comforts that may seem like small things (because they are), but give some insight into a man who does not have much insight of his own. During a round of sit-down interviews with various outlets at the White House, we learned Donald Trump has a Coke button in the Oval Office.

A man accustomed to wealth and its trappings, Trump has embraced life in the Executive Mansion, often regaling guests with trivia about the historic decor. With the push of a red button placed on the Resolute Desk that presidents have used for decades, a White House butler soon arrived with a Coke for the president.

BUSTED: Ivanka Trump pays sweatshop workers near minimum wage for 57-hour workweeks

The author of the upcoming book, “Women Who Work” will have to answer for how she treats the women who work for her.

The Washington Post reports that inspectors with the Fair Labor Association found dozens of violations of international labor standards during an audit of a factory in China owned by the G-III Apparel Group — which owns the rights to manufacture and distribute Ivanka’s fashion line.

The newspaper noted the timing of the inspectors’ report, “comes as the president’s daughter has sought to cast herself as both a champion of workplace issues and a defender of her father’s “buy American, hire American” agenda.”

Just yesterday, G-III was busted for rebranding Ivanka’s clothing line and dumping it on the discount retailer Stein Mart.

This week’s G-III scandals are just the latest to plague Ivanka’s fashion empire during her father’s First 100 Days as president. Only weeks after being sworn-in, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway broke ethics rules by telling Fox News viewers to “go buy” Ivanka’s products.

Embattled House Intel chair Devin Nunes gets a challenger

Devin Nunes, the California Republican congressman who sparked a national firestorm as the House Intelligence chairman overseeing the investigation into Russian election meddling, has a challenger.

Charging voters are “fed up” with Nunes, Fresno County Deputy District Attorney Andrew Janz announced his candidacy Tuesday for California’s 22nd Congressional District seat.

Janz, a 33-year-old Democrat from the Central Valley city of Visalia, challenges the idea that the GOP-dominated district’s 10-point Republican voter registration advantage or Nunes’ roots in a third-generation dairy farming family shields him from a strong challenge in 2018. Nunes, 43, a Republican from Tulare, was elected to the seat in 2002.

“The notion that Devin Nunes is unbeatable is a myth,’’ Janz said in an interview Tuesday. “He’s been more concerned about defending himself regarding allegations of misusing classified information than he is with the concerns of the voters here — water, health care and crime. He’s not talking about these things.”

Researchers Discover New Species of Giant Spider

Tiny, dainty spiders no bigger than a Tic-Tac probably won’t send your blood pressure rising. But the 4-inch-long, red-fanged Sierra Cacachilas wandering spider (Califorctenus cacachilensis), recently named by researchers at the San Diego Natural History Museum and Mexico's Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas del Noroeste, is another story.

The species was first located in 2013 in a mountain range in Baja California Sur, Mexico. Researchers, including field entomologist Jim Berrian, came across evidence of an “abnormally big” shed exoskeleton in a cave. The eye pattern led them to believe it was potentially part of a group of wandering spiders from the Ctenidae family.

Knowing Ctenidae are nocturnal, the researchers returned to the cave at night, where they spotted a living specimen. The team confirmed it was a previously unidentified species, with the findings published in Zootaxa in March.

The cave-dwelling wandering spider is related to the Brazilian wandering spider, known to be highly venomous. Although researchers haven’t fully examined the consequences of a bite from the Sierra Cacachilas, informal research indicates it probably won’t kill you. “I got bit while handling a live specimen of Califorctenus cacachilensis, and I’m still alive,” Berrian said.
