DC Film Centered On Harley Quinn & Other Female Heroes/Villains In The Works

With Justice League: Part One currently in production, Wonder Woman recently wrapping, and Suicide Squad set for release this August, the DCEU is chugging along, despite the reception to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Warner Bros. has a lot riding on the state of this franchise, with Ben Affleck promoted to an Executive Producer role for Justice League and even Greg Berlanti and Zack Stentz developing a solo Booster Gold film.

Now, we can add another project to the DC Extended Universe that is in development. THR is reporting that a film centered on Harley Quinn and the other female heroes and villains of DC comics is now in development. Margot Robbie, as expected will reprise her role as the fan-favorite Batman villain from Suicide Squad, and is also set to produce the upcoming film.

Although a detailed list of potential characters has not been specified beyond Harley Quinn, names such as Batgirl and Birds of Prey have been mentioned. According to sources, Robbie delved deep into research for her role in David Ayer’s upcoming film, and since then has fallen in love with the roster of female characters both good and evil in the DC lore. She even brought on the writer for the project and the studio approved the idea.

Suicide Squad already has a wonderful set of female characters not only with Robbie’s Harley Quinn, but also Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress, and newcomer Karen Fukuhara’s Katana apart of the ensemble. With this movie in development and Wonder Woman set for release next June, we can give DC the kudos for pushing for more prominent female characters in this Extended Universe.

Rumor: Elizabeth Wood Has Met To Direct Captain Marvel

he ever growing Marvel Cinematic Universe just kicked off Phase 3 last week, and with nine movies still to come out between now and 2020, it has only just begun. The large majority of these movies have directors and stars attached, with the lone exception being Captain Marvel. This will be the first female led Marvel film, with the studio also eyeing their first female director for the project. By all indications, we should have an official announcement in the coming months, but so far Marvel is still searching.

The recent rumors have pointed to the director and star sharing their first name, which raised another rumor that Emily Carmichael had met with Marvel to pair her with the fan favorite Emily Blunt. Well now, we have a new possible director to consider. We Got This Covered is reporting their sources have told them that up and coming director Elizabeth Wood met with Marvel during the past week.

Our sources are telling us that a private meeting was held last week between Marvel representatives and independent filmmaker Elizabeth Wood in order to discuss potential directorial duties. It’s believed that the meeting was brokered by Wood’s producer-husband, Gabriel Nussbaum, with whom Wood has worked on all her professional projects.

While college students 'feel the Bern', university workers support Hillary.

Interestingly, according to a recent LawNewz.com analysis, employees at the nation’s ‘Top 10’ universities haven’t exactly jumped on the Bernie bandwagon. In fact, Hillary Clinton got a whopping 83% of all presidential campaign donations from professors, administrators, and employees. To note, so far, there have been no pro-Clinton chalk sightings. We will be sure to update accordingly.

Sanders supporters attempt to 'Occupy' casino after being asked to leave.

The revolution will begin at the $5 poker tables.

Convention leaders declined to reconsider those 56 delegates, and, spurred by the casino — because the event was already well past its scheduled ending time — adjourned for the day. Sanders supporters refused to concede, remaining in the casino's ballroom after the event had ended. Eventually, casino security and law enforcement officials entered to force the Democrats out of the space, even turning off the lights to get them to depart.

Best quote of the 2016 Primary season came from Jon Ralston

If I remember my history, throwing chairs, yelling obscenities and posting cell/address of party leader are how most revolutions begin.

UPDATE: The saddest thing of all is that one of the nastier comments survived a jury vote by 5-2.
