A senior Republican source told Gabriel Sherman that White House chief of staff John Kelly and Defense Secretary James Mattis talked about what they would do if President Trump “lunged for the nuclear football.”

Gov. Jerry Brown asks Trump for Major Disaster declaration in several California counties.

Wildfires that ignited late Sunday surged with explosive speed overnight and into Monday, cutting a path across California’s wine country that turned whole neighborhoods to ash and killed at least 10 people.

The property damage appeared to be among the worst seen in a fire in California. More than 1,500 buildings were destroyed and roughly 150 square miles scorched, fire officials said.

More than a dozen fires in Northern California across eight counties — including Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Yuba — were fanned by dry winds that gusted across a parched landscape faster than 50 miles an hour.

In Southern California, another blaze in Orange County burned at least seven homes.

Gov. Jerry Brown issued emergency proclamations for several counties and asked President Trump to declare a major disaster.

Officials said seven people died in Sonoma County, two in Napa County and one in Mendocino County.

• About 170 people were treated for injuries, most of them smoke inhalation, hospital officials said. The Associated Press reported that two people were in critical condition.

• A Sonoma County spokeswoman told The San Francisco Chronicle that dozens of people had been reported missing.

Family Feud: Melania Trump Aide Slams Ivana Trumps Self-Serving Noise

Will the real first lady please stand up?

Melania Trump's spokeswoman assailed Ivana Trump on Monday as a bitter ex after Ivana quipped in a television interview that she was the real first lady since she was the president's first wife.

"I have the direct number to White House," Ivana boasted in a Monday interview on ABC's "Good Morning America" about her relationship with the president. "But I’m not really going to call him there because Melania is there, and I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that, because I’m basically first Trump wife, OK? I’m first lady, OK?"

Melania Trump's aide took Ivana to task for the quip, calling her an attention-seeking ex-wife trying to sell books.

“Mrs. Trump has made the White House a home for Barron and the president. She loves living in Washington, D.C., and is honored by her role as first lady of the United States," said Stephanie Grisham, Melania Trump's spokeswoman.

Anyone smell smoke in San Francisco?

Smoke from the Napa fire is apparently drifting into the City. I thought our place was on fire for a minute.

Former porn star does more for Hurricane Harvey victims than the wealthy President

How many adult actresses have had as interesting a post-porn career as Mia Khalifa? She took a fairly brief reign as queen of online porn and then parlayed it into a career as a sports pundit, involving occasionally hilarious trolling of various famous athletes.

"Shutupshutupshutupshutupshutup," she wrote, "#PuberMe #ItsForAGoodCause 🤦🏽?♀️ I’m also donating my September Twitch.TV earnings and donations to hurricane relief. Link is in my bio if you want to contribute ?️"

#Puberme is a hashtag created by talk show host Stephen Colbert for celebrities to post awkward teen pics in what Deadline called a "a positive and lighthearted way to bring awareness and aid to Puerto Rico and everyone affected by the recent hurricanes."
