[Nearly half the state is dealing with wildfires as a result of high winds and dry conditions on April 22, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said this afternoon during a news briefing. Specifically, as of 3 pm, the state had 20 fires in 16 counties, she said. Yesterdays exceptionally strong winds, dry fuels, and the low, frankly, extremely low humidity around the state resulted in multiple new fires, she said, sparking and burning a total of more than 25,760 acres in one day.
The governor, who briefed the news media in person from the state Department of Homeland Security accompanied by emergency managers and forest officials, described the current conditions as unprecedented in New Mexico history. It is only April, and yet we are seeing fire spread that we have only ever seen in this stateand in many states, frankly in the Southwestin late May, and June. So our risk season is incredibly and dangerously early.
Which means a longer, more dramatic and quite frankly, more dangerous, significant fire season.
Many of yesterdays new fires were immediately extinguished, she said, and temperatures dropped today but in and of itself, its not enough. Wind speeds on Friday were recorded at 74 mph at the Las Vegas Airport yesterday and exceeded 90 mph atop Kachina Peak in Taos. While winds are expected to decrease tonight and in the coming days, that may not offer enough of a reprieve, the governor said, as the fires themselves create their own atmospheric conditions. We are grateful for any better weather conditions, she said, but we are also cognizant, this is going to be a tough, long week.]

For my 14,000th post let's do some Navel/Belly-Button gazing...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Navel'The navel (clinically known as the umbilicus, commonly known as the belly button) is a protruding, flat, or hollowed area on the abdomen at the attachment site of the umbilical cord. All placental mammals have a navel.
The umbilicus is used to visually separate the abdomen into quadrants.
The umbilicus is a prominent scar on the abdomen, with its position being relatively consistent among humans. The skin around the waist at the level of the umbilicus is supplied by the tenth thoracic spinal nerve (T10 dermatome). The umbilicus itself typically lies at a vertical level corresponding to the junction between the L3 and L4 vertebrae, with a normal variation among people between the L3 and L5 vertebrae.
Parts of the adult navel include the "umbilical cord remnant" or "umbilical tip", which is the often protruding scar left by the detachment of the umbilical cord. This is located in the center of the navel, sometimes described as the belly button. Around the cord remnant, is the "umbilical collar", formed by the dense fibrous umbilical ring. Surrounding the umbilical collar is the periumbilical skin. Directly behind the navel is a thick fibrous cord formed from the umbilical cord, called the urachus, which originates from the bladder.'

that my belly-button was just my own built-in lint trap!

This weekly BBC gallery never disappoints me.
My son and I got our second boosters today. Then we stopped for a late lunch at
the Cervantes Mexican Restaurant. We did our arm exercises in the pharmacy and
later with no side effects. We got the moderna. That's what I call a win-win!
Out and about in Albuquerque yesterday, I thought it must be snowing since the ground
was littered with white. It turned out to be the petals of our white-flowering trees that the
wind was stripping off the trees. I saw that wherever I went in town, but none of the pink
petals from the pink-flowering trees.
I saw that there's lots of gas for less than 4 bucks a gallon. And there's still lots of
profiteers too.
I saw lots of people wearing masks at The Big Box Store. Good for us.
I saw a genuine Lilac Bush in full flower on a southern corner while driving East on
Candelaria between Louisiana and Wyoming. That brought back some pleasant
memories.
I saw a Roadrunner (the real bird kind) scooting along a sidewalk holding a stick in its
beak. It must be spring.

The breakthrough came following an agreement between the government and US manufacturer Zipline, and two centres now operate in the east and west of the country."
I'm pleased to see this gallery today and learn about this medical-based drone
program.
