all offer what support we can.

Al Jazeera: 'Photos: Kyiv after a night of explosions and street fighting Feb. 26, 2022

At least 198 Ukrainians, including three children, have been killed as a result of the Russian invasion.'

https://www.aljazeera.com/gallery/2022/2/26/photos-kyiv-ukraine-russian-invasion-explosions-street-fighting

>Russian troops pressed towards Ukraine’s capital on Saturday, after a night of explosions and street fighting that sent Kyiv residents seeking shelter underground.

The country’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused an American offer to evacuate, insisting that he would stay. “The fight is here,” he said.

It was not immediately clear how far Russian troops had advanced. Ukrainian officials reported some success in fending off assaults, but fighting persisted near the capital. Skirmishes reported on the edge of the city suggested that small Russian units were probing Ukrainian defences to clear a path for the main forces.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a missile hit a high-rise building on the city’s southwestern outskirts. He posted an image showing a gaping hole on one side of the building that ravaged apartments on several floors. There was no immediate word on casualties.<

are not pleasant times and this is not pleasant news or pleasant pictures. Let's all
support Ukraine and its people.

Update on Albuquerque gas prices: A few days ago I posted about buying regular gas

for $3.24 a gallon and today when I looked up prices on Gas Buddy they had a place
listed for $3.14 a gallon that's very close to me. So I drove by to check it out and it
was true! This location is on the southeast corner at Zuni and San Mateo and I'll be
topping up my tank there very soon. Most places here are still gouging with prices
around $4.50 a gallon and I hope President Biden gets after them.

CBC*: Being Black in Thunder Bay: A look at the experiences of 4 residents there

*Canadian Broadcasting Corporation

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/thunder-bay/being-black-in-thunder-bay-four-stories-1.6361849

>During protests across North America in the spring and summer of 2020, in the wake of the death of George Floyd in Minnesota, some 2,000 residents of Thunder Bay, Ont., were out in full force in one June rally, carrying signs and chanting "Black Lives Matter."

The northwestern Ontario city, itself, has faced allegations of racism in its police force and institutions, largely related to the treatment of Indigenous people. But there have also been rallying cries in support of Black people in Thunder Bay.

As part of Black History Month, CBC News spoke with these four people from Thunder Bay's Black community about their experiences, what if anything has changed since the Black Lives Matter protests, and what more can be done to promote inclusivity.<

This is a long, interesting and informative read. There's much more text and photos
at the link and access to the regular CBC feature Being Black In Canada.

BBC: AU/African Union expresses 'extreme concern' over Russia invasion

https://www.bbc.com/news/world

>The African Union (AU) has raised concern over Russia’s attack on Ukraine and is calling for an “immediate ceasefire” to avoid a "planetary conflict".

The union's chairman, Senegalese President Macky Sall, and AU Commission Chairman Moussa Faki Mahamat said in a statement that they were “extremely concerned” by the invasion.

"They call on the Russian Federation and any other regional or international actor to imperatively respect international law, the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Ukraine," the statement added.

The full-scale assault on Ukraine is ongoing on several fronts after Russia launched attacks from the east, north and south on Thursday.<

This is part of a presentation of many different articles. Scroll down to time stamp 1:49 and stop along the way for any other articles of interest. It's good to see the AU supporting the rule of law and common sense.
