'There's a lot to do and see all across the province, even in the depths of winter. With spring just around the corner, a lot of our readers were taking advantage of the incredible views the snow presents.'

This week's gallery does not disappoint.

Guardian: China battles worst Covid outbreak for two years as cases double in 24 hours.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/mar/13/china-battles-worst-covid-outbreak-for-two-years-as-cases-double-in-24-hours

snip

'A nationwide surge in cases has seen authorities close schools in Shanghai and lock down several north-eastern cities, as almost 19 provinces battle clusters of the Omicron and Delta variants.

The city of Jilin has been partially locked down, with hundreds of neighbourhoods sealed up, an official announced Sunday, while Yanji, an urban area of nearly 700,000 bordering North Korea, was fully closed off.

China, where the virus was first detected in late 2019, has maintained a strict zero-Covid policy enforced by swift lockdowns, travel restrictions and mass testing when clusters have emerged.

But the latest flare-up, driven by the highly transmissible Omicron variant and a spike in asymptomatic cases, is challenging that approach.'

There's much more text and some photos at the link.

Some of us have survived by taking protective measures like masking, distancing,
sanitizing and getting vaccinated. With many people around the world continuing to
clamor for FreeDumb from mandates and vaccines it's no wonder that the deaths and
complications from covid infection continue.

What's this? What's this? It's MEET DAVE which is a 2008 movie starring Eddie Murphy,

Gabrielle Union and many others and I've never seen it before! The movie is showing now
on my cable's Laff channel (392 on my local Comcast lineup). It's some kind of Sci-Fi
romp and further I sayeth not. The movie started at 6 PM here on my Mountain Standard
Time.

'The wreck of the polar explorer’s ship has been discovered off the coast of Antarctica, the Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust has announced. Endurance had not been seen since it was crushed by ice and sank in the Weddell Sea in 1915. Last month, 100 years after Shackleton’s death, the Endurance22 expedition set off from South Africa to locate the vessel.'

This gallery shows photos of the found ship, the search team and historic photos
of Shackleton, the crew and the ship, plus access to the full print story.

CBC*: 'Teachers are helping Black history become part of everyday learning in schools.

'Black history is Canadian history,' says historian and professor Afua Cooper'.

*Canadian Broadcasting Corporation

https://www.cbc.ca/news/black-canadian-history-classrooms-1.6369258

'While walking high schoolers through the Vancouver neighbourhood where the historic Black community of Hogan's Alley was located, Ruby Smith Díaz sometimes asks the teens to snap a photo of something that resonates with them.

Smith Diaz, an arts-based facilitator, educator and artist, leads those tours as part of her workshop series exploring Black history and the Black Canadian experience with secondary students and fellow teachers.

Once, a student shared a photo of a mosque after their tour had stopped at Fountain Chapel, one of the few landmarks still remaining after Hogan's Alley was largely demolished in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

She described the mosque as a "safe place" that helped her connect with "why a church might be important for someone of African ancestry that lived in Vancouver at that time," explained Smith Díaz.'

Black History Month in Canada and The U.S. may be over but it's good to see the
CBC continuing their regular informative articles. There's much more text, photos, videos and and access to 'Black On The Prairies: A Teacher's Guide' plus 'Being Black
In Canada' at the link above. I have edited the OP title to fit.
