South Carolina Ex-Police Officer gets a murder Indictment in Walter Scott Killing!!!

South Carolina prosecutor Scarlett Wilson said Monday that a grand jury has indicted former North Charleston police officer Michael Slager on a murder charge.

Slager is accused of shooting and killing motorist Walter Scott. In April, Slager pulled Scott over, reportedly for a faulty brake light. Video released showed the men talking then Scott getting out of his vehicle and running away.

According to a police report, Scott, a 50-year-old African-American man, did not comply with an officer’s demands and tried to grab Slager’s stun gun. Slager is white.
A widely circulated video taken by a bystander with a phone shows Scott attempting to run. His back is to Slager, who, from a few yards away, raises his gun and fires.
Slager shot eight times, and Scott was hit five times. Scott died at the scene.

Slager was fired from the department, arrested and charged with murder.

Stepping Into This Shower Feels Like Hugging a Warm Cloud

I SO would like to use this!
Lots of detail in the article about how it is designed and why we all should be using it.....

Before diving into the very inventive technical aspects of Nebia and its decidedly non-Silicon Valley origins, you need to know what it feels like.

One second you’re totally dry, and the next you’re completely soaked. There isn’t any “getting into” the stream—you turn it on, and it’s like you’re standing inside a thick, soaking patch of mist. The pressure is light, almost skin-prickling, so you don’t so much feel it as just get enveloped by it. But the real test: Can it wash out shampoo? I’m happy to say yes it can; I didn’t have to return to the office with a head full of dried soap.

“It’s very immersive,” Winter says. “You walk in and immediately you’re wet—you don’t have to step into the stream and move your body around this wide surface area, but you’re still immediately wet.” Even more poetic yet: “People says it’s like stepping into a warm cloud.”

Snip:
The company claims that its main setting uses 70 percent less water than a normal shower, the “amped up” harder pressure setting saves a claimed 60-65 percent.
The water coming out of the shower head is atomized—each drop is split up into much tinier droplets, allowing them to form a mist that fills up more of the air around you and coats your skin more thoroughly.

Former Ga., police chief pleads guilty to shooting his wife, receives 12 months probation

They were in bed, she was asleep, he claims he pulled the trigger while he was asleep,
she was hospitalized, is recovering.
He was fired.
And now they have moved to.....Florida.

McCollom accidentally shot and severely wounded his wife, Margaret McCollom, New Year's Day. He said he accidentally pulled the trigger in his sleep.

Griffin Judicial Circuit District Attorney Scott Ballard said he'll ask a grand jury to charge McCollom with reckless conduct. When asked why he did not seek a stronger charge Ballard said there is not enough evidence to show McCollom intended to shoot his wife.

McCollom resigned in March.
McCollom received 12 months probation and first offenders rights. He is also required to pay a $1,000 fine.

He now lives in Florida.

Heads Up!!!!....................David Simon's new series starts next Sunday!!!!!

Of all those who revolutionized TV in the last 20 years, David Simon was always the most political and least commercial. From The Wire to Generation Kill and Treme, he's consistently dived into the country's thorniest topics: the Drug War, inner city public schools, the invasion of Iraq, New Orleans post-Katrina.

In his new HBO project, Show Me a Hero, he takes on his least likely subject for nightly entertainment yet: public housing.
A true story set in Yonkers in the late Eighties/early Nineties, the six-episode miniseries stars Oscar Isaac (giving a young-Pacino level performance) as Nick Wasicsko, the youngest mayor in America at the time. He finds himself confronting an enraged constituency after a Federal court orders 200 units of affordable housing — all of which is set to be built in the city's lily-white neighborhoods.
What unfolds is an American tragedy in six acts.

Happiness is a David Simon production.....

edited to add:

He says, in the story at the link:

I think that there are two currencies that operate in politics to a far more profound effect than goodwill or sentiment.
Those things are money and fear. That shit is what pays and punishes politicians, money and fear.
