Minnesotans Dont Think Franken Should Resign; Franken Remains Popular, Especially With Women

Source: Public Policy Polling

A new Public Policy Polling survey of Minnesota voters finds that a majority don’t think Al Franken should resign from the US Senate, and that he remains popular in the state, particularly with women. Key findings from the survey include:

-50% of voters think he should not resign, to only 42% who think he should go through with his planned resignation. There is little appetite from Democratic voters at the state level for Franken to go, with 71% opposing his departure. A majority of independents- 52%- as well think he should not resign, with just 41% favoring his exit.

-Franken remains well above average in popularity for a Senator, with 53% of voters approving of the job he’s doing to 42% who disapprove. PPP rarely finds Senators with majority approval in their home states. Franken’s continued popularity is being driven especially by women. 57% of them like the job he’s doing to 37% who don’t. By contrast Donald Trump stands at 40/58 with women in the state.

-Minnesotans don’t like how the process with Franken’s resignation has played out. 60% think the Senate Ethics Committee should have completed its investigation (including 79% of Democrats and 61% of independents) before any decision was made about Franken’s future, while only 35% think he should resign immediately. Beyond that 76% of Minnesota voters think their voices should have been more important in determining whether Franken stayed in the Senate or not, to only 12% who think that should have been determined more by his fellow Senators in Washington.

We haven't wavered!

Trump told friends at Mar-a-Lago 'you all just got a lot richer' after tax bill passed: report

Source: The Hill

President Trump reportedly told friends at his Mar-a-Lago resort just hours after he signed the GOP tax bill that they all just got wealthier.

"You all just got a lot richer," Trump said Friday at a dinner at Mar-a-Lago, two friends at a table near the president told CBS News.

Late last week, Trump signed the sweeping Republican tax bill into law, marking his first major legislative accomplishment since winning the White House.

He spoke at length during the signing, thanking Republicans in Congress for getting the legislation to his desk and predicting it would help the economy.

House Republicans quietly investigate perceived corruption at DOJ, FBI

Source: Politico

A group of House Republicans has gathered secretly for weeks in the Capitol in an effort to build a case that senior leaders of the Justice Department and FBI improperly — and perhaps criminally — mishandled the contents of a dossier that describes alleged ties between President Donald Trump and Russia, according to four people familiar with their plans.

A subset of the Republican members of the House intelligence committee, led by Chairman Devin Nunes of California, has been quietly working parallel to the committee's high-profile inquiry into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. They haven't informed Democrats about their plans, but they have consulted with the House's general counsel.

The people familiar with Nunes' plans said the goal is to highlight what some committee Republicans see as corruption and conspiracy in the upper ranks of federal law enforcement. The group hopes to release a report early next year detailing their concerns about the DOJ and FBI, and they might seek congressional votes to declassify elements of their evidence.

That final product could ultimately be used by Republicans to discredit special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into whether any Trump aides colluded with Russia during the 2016 campaign — or possibly even to justify his dismissal, as some rank-and-file Republicans and Trump allies have demanded. (The president has said he is not currently considering firing Mueller.)

We Cant Get Enough of This Koch Heir's Terrible Shirt Line

Source: The Cut

The news recently broke that Wyatt Koch — son of Bill Koch, of the conservative dark lord billionaire Kochs — is suing his ex-fiancée to get the custom engagement ring he gifted her back. Koch reportedly bought her the ring for $180,000 and now wants it returned, along with $15,000 in damages. But that is neither here nor there because what’s emerged from this narrative is a far more fascinating bit of information: young Koch’s true passion is designing shirts, and they are terrible beyond your wildest imagination.

Koch’s brand, Wyatt Ingraham, sports the tagline “Be Bold™” — and he delivers. The shirts, with bright colors and busy patterns, are definitely what we’d call “bold.” They’re also what we’d call “seizure-inducing” and “oh God, why?” Take, for instance, the “Wall Street” design which retails for $79 on sale, features literal moneybags, and looks like something a cigar-chomping fat cat would wear on Casual Fridays.
