JustAnotherGen's JournalWhat a great idea! (Maltese for journal)
Adding to journal. We are starting to look for a Maltese puppy from local in home breeders. Great for when he/she reaches adulthood. I see it is for dogs 8 pounds and heavier - but great idea!
She's a hypocrite then
This tells me who she REALLY is and what she REALLY believes . . .
That it's just a piece of paper.
True story - my dad was moved to Fort Knox just a few months after the Loving vs VA case. My mom of course went with him.
It was NOT just a piece of paper to them (a till death do they part marriage) and it isn't for the couples trying to tie the knot that are the same sex in Kentucky.
I hope she fets thrown in jail for breaking the law. And if there aren't laws that get one thrown in jail for denying others their Civil Liberties or Rights - maybe there needs to be.
Maybe that's the next big challenge? Making those who deny criminally responsible for their bigotry?
The NRA is Smearing Martin O'Malley as a 'friend to criminals'
The NRA - as usual - a bunch of snakes slithering around on their bellies showing Americans every single day that they are a bunch of good for nothings.
http://mediamatters.org/blog/2015/08/21/nra-smears-martin-omalley-as-a-friend-to-crimin/205084
Angered by O'Malley's strong support for a package of gun safety laws enacted in Maryland in 2013 following the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, the NRA claims O'Malley "imposed the most draconian new gun bans anywhere in the country" before offering attacks from the top two members of NRA leadership.
NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre is quoted in the article claiming O'Malley "has presided over some of the most spectacular, bloody and brutal failures of 'gun control' in our nation's history," while NRA top lobbyist Chris Cox suggests O'Malley becoming president could trigger "a fight for the survival of Second Amendment freedom as we know it."
The NRA also objects to O'Malley's response to the massacre of nine parishioners in a historically African-American Charleston, South Carolina, church in June, sneering that the former Maryland governor acted "decidedly un-presidential" when he wrote an email to supporters declaring he was "pissed" about inaction on gun violence while calling for bans on assault weapons and stronger background checks on gun sales.
I don't know about any of the rest of you who detest the NRA and everything they stand for but . . .
Am I the only person saying to myself . . .
I can't find that one fuck I'm supposed to give about what those pieces of shit at the NRA think is Presidential or not.
Martin O'Malley's Is No Opportunist on Gun Control

2011 Maryland State of the State Address Feb 3, 2011
http://msa.maryland.gov/megafile/msa/speccol/sc5300/sc5339/000113/014000/014577/unrestricted/20120413e.pdf
At the beginning, he tips his hat to President Obama -
As President Obama said just last week, We know what it takes to compete for the jobs and industries of our time. We need to out-innovate, out-educate, and out-build the rest of the world.
He then went on to speak about Tough Choices - one being gun control reform in Maryland:
Now the State Police tell us that this is the lowest number of juvenile victims of homicide on record. But how do we explain that to the families, to the moms and dads of kids that were lost. How do you tell them that those thirty-one lives lost we consider that to be progress or a state accomplishment?
Two years ago, you required judges, rightly, to remove guns from the houses of domestic abusers. This year, I need your help to further toughen the enforcement of our gun laws.
And while nobody believes that we should criminalize poverty, there are things that we can do must do to bring Maryland in line with what every other state does and what every other state expects when it comes to preventing the willful neglect of a child.
In his conclusion he tips his hat to President Clinton -
As President Clinton once rightly said, There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America.
Two years later - February 2013:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/16/maryland-gun-control-law_n_3287475.html
Part of the law requires people to submit fingerprints to the state police to get a license to buy a handgun.
O'Malley says states with similar laws have substantially lower gun death rates than states that do not
The measure banned 45 types of assault weapons and gun magazines will be limited to 10 bullets.
September 2013 - the NRA gets butt hurt:
Maryland Gun Control Law Gets Second Challenge
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/30/maryland-gun-control-law_n_4017220.html
Attorney General Doug Gansler said the plaintiffs three private citizens and seven gun dealers and associations waited more than four months after Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley signed the legislation to file the lawsuit.
The law, enacted in response to Newtown, Conn., elementary school shooting, adds 45 types of guns to a list of banned assault weapons and limits magazines to 10 bullets. It also requires handgun buyers to be fingerprinted before purchase. The law is set to take effect Tuesday.
Just wanted to clear up the headlines that O'Malley is JUST DOING THIS NOW.
He's not. He's as pissed as the rest of us who want these bullshit shootings to stop - and he has been.
A National Database of gun owners, finger prints, limitations on the types of guns one can own - these are tough and expensive choices -
But it has to happen. Understand - among you at DU (for those who want no limitations on gun ownership in case The Gub'mint does whatever ) are Democratic Party Members for whom this issue is non negotiable.
Notes -
We are a home with guns. Yes - multiple guns. Like two handguns and numerous hunting rifles. We also have bullets for these. We would pass finger print, mental health, background checks - we have no fear.
My cousin was murdered by having a bullet put in his head by a kid trying to get into a gang (black on black violence - random shooting) on April 13, 1991.

I've never thought that Mitch McConnell was a bigot - more of an opportunist who was desperate to hang onto his bought and paid for job (his father in law has mega bucks).
But I have to admit - it makes me look differently at him - it also makes me wonder . . .
How can he stand being around some of those racists in his party?
Ditto John Boehner and John McCain (son in law/daughter in law who are black).
So it was okay when it was not an elected official
It was okay when it was the First Lady? Hmmmm. . .
Occupy Wall Street Silenced John Lewis?
Did I miss this?
http://www.salon.com/2011/10/13/the_man_who_blocked_john_lewis_speaks/
The moment where Congressman Lewis wasnt allowed to speak to Occupy Atlanta has become racially charged. It looks like a predominantly white crowd turning away a black civil rights hero. So I hate to try to put you in a bubble, but how do you characterize your own ethnicity?
No, its OK, I think the move to pretend to color-blindness is very dangerous. My four grandparents come from Italy, Africa and Spain. Im a quarter black. In terms of bubbles, when Im filling out forms, I bubble in Latino, black and white. Growing up in Pearl River, my friends were Irish Catholic, and being of mixed race, I was the minority. Ive never been white enough for the whites, or Latino enough for the Latinos; its actually the black community that Ive felt most at home with. So its ironic, the John Lewis thing.
http://www.thesavvysista.com/2011/10/man-who-blocked-congresmen-john-lewis.html
That might have been crude. Im talking about the segment of the black community here that feels ignored and disenfranchised. Here in Atlanta, theres very much a class divide. I think a lot of black leadership, and black church leadership, tends to be separated from the urban poor black community. Politically, things have to be pretty noncontroversial for many in the official black church to get involved, and when they do, their answer is, go out and vote for the Democrats! Thats very unsatisfying to a lot of us
