Trump's personal attorney splits with his own legal team
Source: CNN
(CNN)President Donald Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen, has split with the legal team that has shepherded him through a criminal investigation that included a high-profile FBI raid, a source familiar with the change said Wednesday.
The split could signal a shift in legal strategy and comes amid mounting pressure on Cohen as criminal charges could become likely. Sources familiar with Cohen's plans tell CNN that his main goal right now is to have a legal team with experience in the Southern District of New York, which is handing the probe.
The first source familiar said Cohen had not yet met with prosecutors to speak about a potential deal, and it's unclear whether either side is seeking one.
Cohen has not been charged with a crime, but the FBI raid of his home, hotel room and office in early April revealed that prosecutors had zeroed in on his personal financial dealings, including the payment he made to porn star Stormy Daniels on Trump's behalf before the election.
Cohen has found a new lawyer, but the name of Cohen's new lawyer was not yet known.

Note the story says that Cohen has NOT met with prosecutors.
No one knows what this means. Maybe he's just changing attorneys. Maybe his existing attorneys aren't sure they'll get paid or they don't want to continue reviewing all those documents. I remember his attorneys arguing in court that they couldn't complete the privileged doc. review by a certain date because of the number of materials & tapes, and that it was costing an exorbitant amount of money already, and the staff was already working almost around the clock.
The timing is very interesting, because the document review was due to be completed THIS MONTH. Maybe he's hoping changing attorneys will get him an extension on that deadline.

(CNN)A White House contractor wanted by police on an attempted first-degree murder charge was arrested as he came into work on Tuesday, law enforcement officials said.
In a statement, the US Secret Service said it was notified on Monday the contractor, Martese Edwards, was the subject of an arrest warrant issued by Prince George's County in Maryland, just outside of Washington.
Edwards was promptly arrested by Secret Service Uniformed Division Officers at a checkpoint outside of the White House complex when he was reporting to work as a contractor," the Secret Service statement read.

As a contractor, Edwards would have had access to at least some part of the White House complex, and would be subject to security screenings before entering the grounds.

What I think the Trump Team is doing with this "I can pardon myself" trash....
They're running it up the flagpole to see how the Republicans in Congress react. To get a feel for whether they'll go along with it.
It's also to distract, and to desperately look for a way out of this dilemma. It's always about that.
But we know he sends messages through his statements and behavior. The recent pardon was a message to Cohen. Now this theory implying he's above the law, that the Mueller investigation is unconstitutional, that he can end the investigation at any time, that he can pardon himself...that's a message to the Senate and House Republicans. Will you go along with this? Will you fight it? Will you do it, if I demand it? How afraid of me are you?
So far, Grassley is the only Repub who has indicated the Trump theory is garbage, that I've heard. But maybe he's the only one who has been asked.
But the thing is, even if he must obey the law technically, if there is no one who will do anything about it, doesn't that mean he does not have to obey the law in a practical way?
The Republicans won't do anything. Unlike with Nixon, when the Republicans told Nixon they would impeach him if he didn't resign, there is no group of Republicans who will do that here.

It occurs to me how much he looks like....
Wanna bet he thinks of himself in this way?
