Chimpanzee arms him/herself with long stick and knocks drone out of sky

Once the drone arrived at the chimpanzee quarters the intelligent primates immediately discovered the spying little plane and right away armed themselves with long sticks against this inquisitive electronic intruder,' the zaoo revealed.

One of the chimpanzees was high up in a tree with a long branch.

'Apparently very calm and satisfied, half asleep in the morning sun, the primate let the drone make its curious images.

'Until..... the drone got just a bit too close.

Los Angeles police accused of allowing search dog to attack woman's cat (cat survived)

Los Angeles police accused of allowing search dog to attack woman's cat

When Alissa Kirby returned to her apartment in Mid-Wilshire area and found a trail of blood under her bed leading to her 2-year-old tabby, she panicked. She rushed the cat to the emergency veterinarian clinic across town and told the vet her theory: A dog had bitten Butters.

I think as officers of the law, they should be accountable and they should be held to a higher standard than ordinary citizens. - Alissa Kirby, Los Angeles resident

But not just any dog — a police dog; one of the eight that had swept through her building March 10, searching for a possibly armed burglary suspect. The next morning, a veterinarian confirmed that the puncture wounds on the right side of Butters' chest were three obvious teeth marks, farther apart than an average-size cat's teeth and consistent with a bite wound.

The Los Angeles Police Department has launched a formal investigation into Kirby's allegation that her cat was attacked by a dog from the K-9 unit, resulting in nearly $1,000 in veterinarian bills.

------------

"Even though the dogs are trained a particular way, the bottom line is it's still an animal and animal instinct does have a tendency to kick in," Carodine said. "But that's why we put so much time and effort into how we train our dogs so it's not an issue."

guy wears 'Eat Sleep Rape Repeat' T-shirt at Coachella

An unidentified male concert-goer has come under fire for his offensive choice of festival fashion after he was photographed at Coachella wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the words 'Eat Sleep Rape Repeat'.

The snapshot, which shows the man giving the peace sign as he flaunts his controversial shirt at the festival held in Indio, California, sparked outrage after it was shared on Twitter on Sunday by Jemayel Khawaja, the managing editor of Vice's music and culture channel Thump.

'This guy wins the award for worst fashion/lifestyle choices @coachella. I'm not easy to offend, but this is sh**** [sic],' he tweeted along with the picture.

-----
'@JemayelK @coachella Is that real? I imagine it was meant to say “RAGE”? [sic],' one critic asked, while someone else added: '@JemayelK please say that's photoshopped?? [sic]'

But Jemayel confirmed that he had taken the snapshot and seen the shirt with his own two eyes after one Twitter user asked: 'Before I jump on the appropriate rage wagon, did you take this picture yourself?'

'Yeah I did. Rage away,' he replied.

The shirt, which doesn’t appear to be sold online, may have been custom-made for the event.

Meanwhile, someone else confirmed that another Coachella reveler had taken to Twitter on Sunday to share their disgust after running into the man in the controversial T-shirt.

A record 90% of U.S. adults now have health insurance thanks to Obamacare, new survey finds

Researchers behind the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index say the number of uninsured Americans is now at a record low
When tracking began in 2008 roughly 14 percent of citizens were uninsured, peaking at 18 percent in the third quarter of 2013
But marking a shift in the trend, for the first three months of this year the rate dropped to 11.9 percent
The survey results were based on phone interviews conducted from January 2 to March 31 with a sample of 43,575 adults ages 18 and older
Underlining a change across the nation, nearly 90per cent of U.S. adults now say they have health insurance, according to an extensive survey released Monday.

Researchers behind the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index say the number of uninsured Americans is now at a record low.

When tracking began in 2008 roughly 14per cent of citizens were uninsured, peaking at 18per cent in the third quarter of 2013. But marking a shift in the trend, for the first three months of this year the rate dropped to 11.9per cent.

Whether the new findings turn out to be a high-water mark for President Barack Obama's health care law, or a milestone on the path toward his goal of getting virtually all U.S. residents covered, remains to be seen.

Davion Only, 16, captured hearts around the nation in 2013 when he made a plea for a family to 'love him forever'
Later this month he will offically be adopted by his old caseworker Connie Bell Going and her family
Davion has been living with her two daughters and another adopted boy since December
She admits it isn't always easy having everyone trying to get along, but she says it is worth it - 'everyday it geta little bit better'

A young boy who made national headlines in 2013 when he stood up in a Florida church and asked for someone to adopt him has finally found the loving family environment he always craved.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3036331/Happiness-boy-16-heartbreaking-church-plea-adopted-pictured-enjoying-loving-home-shares-former-caseworker.html
Davion Navar Henry Only, 16, had spent his entire life in foster care after his birth mom had given birth to him behind bars.

Three years after his emotional plea at St Mark Missionary Baptist Church he has finally found a permanent home with the woman who first met him as a 7-year-old when she became his caseworker.

----
Davion became the face of adoption and an example of the struggle faced by many teenagers in the system when in 2013 he stood up and told worshipers at Florida's St Mark Missionary Baptist Church; 'My name is Davion and I've been in foster care since I was born. I know God hasn't given up on me, so I'm not giving up either.'

He then said; 'I'll take anyone. Old or young, dad or mom, black, white, purple. I don't care. And I would be really appreciative. The best I could be.'

Hillary Clinton's opponents piled on with attacks after her announcement
"Hillary Clinton represents the worst of the Washington machine. The arrogance of power, corruption and coverup, conflicts of interest, and failed leadership with tragic consequences," the narrator says, later adding, "It's time for a new leader and new way, Rand Paul."

The commercial concludes with footage of Paul and details about his policies. In a press release, his team said it "will air on cable television in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada" starting Monday.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus echoed similar themes in a statement sent out shortly after Clinton's announcement.

The Great Goldfish Invasion of 2015 - three years ago a few unwanted goldfish were dumped into lake

The Great Goldfish Invasion of 2015

In Colorado, a reminder why it’s a bad idea to release unwanted pets into the wild.
About two years ago, Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials believe someone pulled up to Boulder’s Teller Lake and released several goldfish into the wild. As seen in the video above, the fish have sinced spawned into a massive school, a reminder that our favored aquarium mascots are actually descendants of a very invasive species: carp.

?1428605213http://m.livescience.com/50442-3000-goldfish-multiply-in-lake.htmlhttp://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science/2015/04/colorado_goldfish_invasion_never_release_unwanted_pets_into_the_wild_video.html

They multiply like … fish! Apparently, a handful of goldfish dumped into a lake in Boulder, Colorado, just three years ago have reproduced and now number in the thousands.
The explosion of these exotic fish, which are not native to anywhere in North America, has biologists worried and trying to figure out options for the animals' removal.
"Based on their size, it looks like they're 3-year-olds, which were probably produced from a small handful of fish that were illegally introduced into the lake," Ben Swigle, a fish biologist at the Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), told Live Science. North Carolina introduces bill to ban abortion training for medical students

To Keep Women Safe, North Carolina GOP Tries to Stop Med Students From Learning How to Provide Safe Abortions

For the past few years, Republicans at the state level have passed a frenzy of abortion restrictions while arguing that they're doing it to protect women and make abortion safer. North Carolina state Rep. Pat McElraft says as much about her latest bill, HB 465: “There's no effort here to try to restrict a woman's right to have an abortion,” she told WRAL. “What we're trying to do is make her care competent.”

Except that the bill would ban medical students from learning how to provide that competent care. On top of extending the waiting period for an abortion to 72 hours and banning anyone but OB-GYNs from performing abortions, the bill also bans the University of North Carolina and East Carolina University from providing abortion training to medical students.

When WNCN asked McElraft about this provision, all of her previous concern for competent medical care for abortion patients dried right up. “There are opportunities for doctors to learn,” she said. “Abortion doctors learn from all kinds of training—in spontaneous abortions and sometimes miscarriages.” So which is it, McElraft? Is abortion such a delicate procedure that only one kind of doctor can even begin to understand it? Or is it such a no-brainer that you don't even need training?

For what it's worth, common methods of abortion—such as medication abortion (which only requires pills) and aspiration abortions—are simple enough that most doctors, as well as nurses and physician assistants, can learn to do them safely. However, providers still need training, even if bills such as HB 465 serve to obscure this reality.

county sheriff punished with trash collection after dog attack on suspect

The highest-ranking law enforcement officer in the South Carolina county where Walter Scott was shot dead was punished with trash collection duty after his team of officers dragged a man from his truck, punched him and allowed a dog to bite him as he lay on the ground.

Al Cannon, the sheriff of Charleston County, had an assault and battery charge for hitting Timothy McManus erased from his record after completing 30 hours of litter collection and an anger management class, he said. No other officers were disciplined over the incident.

Cannon said in an interview on Friday that the experience had given him “a greater appreciation for litter”.

-----
“I think it was an appropriate punishment in light of other cases and given my position,” he said.
----!!!!

Cannon was later arrested and charged for slapping McManus as he sat handcuffed in a police vehicle. McManus said the blow was heavy enough to make his nose bleed. Six officers denied the sheriff had struck McManus, before Cannon confessed, apologised and admitted it was “inappropriate”.
