Looking for opinions and experiences with a Chromebooks laptop.

I don't use a computer for a job as I am a retiree. Mainly I use e-mail, word processors, some spread sheets and mostly browsing. I like the idea of not worrying about viruses and memory in a cloud. But maybe I'm missing a whole lot that would make me miss my desktop.

I sent in my 'donation' about Sept 12, 2014, but still haven't seen the check cashed......

Titanic:Blood and Steel

This is a 12 episode series, not about the voyage, but about the life and times of those people in Belfast, Ireland in that period leading to the commissioning of the Titanic. I finished 8 episodes, and we're still looking for more! Nicely done and the story is always varied due to problems with labor, religion and romance.

By todays standards, Eisenhower would have been a great Democrat!

I remember Ike, but I needed to be 21 to vote at that time, so missed out. But, looking back I can remember there were some big investigations pretty good tax rates, even for the millionaires, plenty of jobs for labor and strong fed building programs for the infrastructure. And I don't remember him wanting to change domestic programs like Soc. Sec.. (of course Medicare wasn't started yet.) Compare him to our modern Dems, and we can see how far adrift are the so-called left wing in this country.

Something we should know about a Defense bill(HR 4310)....

While we're all signing petitions to our leaders in Congress, in order to avoid cuts in our domestic programs that are directly meant for "the People", they're(Congress) quietly passing a huge defense bill( HR4310) for 633 billion dollars. It has passed both the senate and House, and only awaits for the president's signature. I haven't seen or heard anything in the media about it. Apparently there were no cuts in anything that might be helpful to save some domestic programs. So for anyone who thinks Congress actually represents them, or gives a shit, we can give up on that!

Has anyone heard of the results from Pelosi's "discharge petition" that would have allowed....

a vote on the senate approved bill for keeping the tax rate for those under $250,000 ?
