Charges filed in murder of retired St. Louis police captain David Dorn

ST. LOUIS — Charges have been filed against a 24-year-old man who police believe fatally shot retired St. Louis police Capt. David Dorn, 77, on the sidewalk outside Lee’s Pawn and Jewelry early Tuesday morning.

Stephan Cannon, 24, of Glasgow Village, has been charged with first-degree murder. He is being held without bond.

As downtown St. Louis descended into violence and chaos Monday night into Tuesday morning, Dorn, also a retired municipal police chief, attempted to protect the pawn shop from looting. He was shot multiple times, and his killing was broadcast on Facebook Live.

According to a police probable cause statement, Cannon was seen on surveillance footage pulling up and entering the store with others, and then stealing several televisions. Once Dorn arrived at the store, Cannon walked toward the street corner with a gun in his hand.

Florissant detective is suspended after video appears to show police SUV striking man

DELLWOOD — A Florissant detective has been suspended after knocking down a man while driving an unmarked police SUV and then striking the man on the ground, a video appears to show.

“After seeing that video, I was deeply concerned about the content of it,” Florissant police Chief Tim Fagan said late Saturday at a news conference.

Fagan said the 31-year-old driver of the police vehicle is a detective who has worked at the department for nine years and that two additional officers have been put on leave.

About 100 protesters gathered outside the Florissant Police Department Sunday night, blocking Lindbergh Boulevard and laying down in the street. Traffic barriers were placed in front of the police building and the windows were boarded.

Facebook post from The Ferguson Brewing Company, Ferguson, Missouri

I thought this of interest.

"Tonight I watched on live tv as people threw objects and broke our windows at Ferguson Brewing. A business that I’ve literally poured blood, sweat, and tears in to building and rebuilding over the last ten years. We’ve been through a tornado, kitchen fire, corona virus, civil unrest in 2014 and current. It’s been exhausting. As upset, tired, helpless, and sad as I am; there are people in the community that are literally cleaning up the pieces and boarding up the windows as I’m posting this. That’s what #Ferguson is about. You may see the protests and violence and think Ferguson is an awful place. But I would bet the business that the people that are causing the damage in our neighborhood, are not actually from our neighborhood. Please help support Ferguson businesses any way you can. We need it now more than ever."
