Andrea Mitchell suggest Ryan widens the gender gap....

While Chuck Todd looks at her like she just started speaking in Latin, or some other language about which he cannot comprehend.

Is there a "Texas Air National Guard Memo" in the works

This whole "Mitt didn't pay any taxes for ten years" thing seems like a good set-up for a Dan Rather moment.

Whether he did or didn't, the point is that he has not disclosed basic information that is normally released by a candidate for president. We don't know what he paid or didn't pay.

Granted, any further disclosure is going to result in discoveries of interesting things in them.

But the focus on the particular allegation that he didn't pay any taxes seems to be one way to deal with releasing them. If he does release more information, and it shows that he paid a non-zero amount, then does that minimize the impact of other information in them by saying, "You see, all those people were lying about him not paying any taxes"?

WTF? Romney praises health care in Israel

Straight from the dancing horse's mouth:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/wp/2012/07/30/romney-praises-health-care-in-israel-where-strong-government-influence-has-driven-down-costs/

"When our health care costs are completely out of control. Do you realize what health care spending is as a percentage of the GDP in Israel? 8 percent. You spend 8 percent of GDP on health care. And you’re a pretty healthy nation. We spend 18 percent of our GDP on health care. 10 percentage points more. That gap, that 10 percent cost, let me compare that with the size of our military. Our military budget is 4 percent. Our gap with Israel is 10 points of GDP. We have to find ways, not just to provide health care to more people, but to find ways to finally manage our health care costs."

Again I ask, WTF?

Franklin Mint buys Joe Paterno statue

Pennsylvania private collectible maker, Franklin Mint, announced today that it will be melting down the Joe Paterno statue to make PSU football program memorial coins. The coins, each individually numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, will be a limited edition honoring Joe Paterno's career on the front side, and carrying the patriotic words of the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution on the back. Supplies are limited, so only one order per household may be accepted, buyers must be over 18, and the coins will not be delivered to any address within 1000 feet of a school or daycare facility.

It's illegal pretty much everywhere in the US

And there doesn't seem to be any groundswell of support for changing that any time soon.

So that one seems to be pretty much covered.
