According to national polls, Trump beats Hillary, while Sanders beats Trump.

In New Hampshah, Trump got 94k. Hillary only got 90K.

AND BERNIE GOT 130K!

I guess the national polls are right after all.

Mark Kirk

Has anyone seen the latest poll numbers? A few months ago, I was push polled by his campaign. Then two weeks ago, I got a strange message - again from his campaign, this time proudly pointing out how good he is for Illinois.

riiiiiight.

And any word on our side of the aisle? Tammy, and the others?

Donald Trump on Cable live

Both CNN and MSNBC had Teh Donald on for quite some time, until CNN broke to go to Cruz explaining his ethanol stance.

Whenever I see or hear Teh Donald on the air, I keep thinking, "Is us series? Are donald gonna win the president office?"

This buffoon, this clown, this narcissist, PRESIDENT?

Oh goodie, it looks like Bible Spice will be joining him on stage this am. I can barely sit on the edge of my seat.

On edit, Below, I tried to capture the gist and jism of Teh Donald.

I am great. I build great things. I am a winner. I am in this to win. I barely scratched my money and am way under budget. I am ahead. I love polls - when I lead. I hate polls when I lose. I love polls. CNN should use its poll. Cuz I lead. Did I mention how great I am and how I will make America grate again?

Sarah Palin endorses Donald Trump

Read more: Link to source

There is no printed story yet, but the trib Head's Up service just pinged that Sarah has endorsed Teh Donald.
More when the news is more widespread.

heh.

hahaha.

HOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOH!

On edit, MSNBC is now reporting it. Apparently, Sarah and Teh Donald have been secretly communicating for some time. According to Nicolle Wallace (McCain's and Palin's campaign manager) this will excite voters and have a big impact on Iowa.

Jason and the Argonauts

I was six when this movie came out. Then I thought it was stunning. The realism, the creatures, the nasty, mean vindictive gods (almost Olde Testament stuff), and the action. Everything a kid could enjoy. So, yesterday, 52 years later, seeing it was to be shown on TV, my partner and I decided, what the heck, let's watch.

Considering they only had 1963 technology, the special effects are still great, surprisingly so. Actually, the movie stands the test of time quite well, even for a sci-fi/Greek god/kids' adventure tale. It still entertains and almost makes you wish for the next episode.

Death, destruction, vindictiveness, hatred, love, sword fights, huge gods popping up out of the ocean, a giant bronze warrior - what is not to like? Not on my top ten list, but very watchable.

What is your favorite childhood movie?

Merry holidays to all

I've concentrated on saying Happy Holidays, at least when I don't say "Bah, Humbug."

So far, the responses have all been warm, and usually saying the same thing back to me. (especially the bah, humbug bit)

I haven't had any bible beating bitcher complain about it, and certainly no concealed carry moran has threatened me for attacking x-mas.

So, be safe, enjoy your feed and drink, and be nice to the elderly and the kiddies.

Bush cuts costs, advisors, salaries

According to this morning's New York Times, the Jeb! has taken a large axe and given his campaign 40 whacks. Long before the first Caucus is due, He'll give it another forty two.

In my 58 years, I have never seen any campaign, GOP or Democratic, that went into bunker mode, had major cuts, and survived to gain a tie, then a lead in the nomination process. Of course, there is a first time for everything, and I still remember her name, but I just do not see Jeb! being the exception to the general rule.

My guess is that tonight's meeting with Daddums, Teh W, and even Babs, means that the lights are going out on Bush 3.0 very soon.

The Bern in Chicago

Yesterday, Bernie came to a theater near you . . . if you live near Park West in Chicago, that is.

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/08/17/bernie-sanders-draws-big-crowd-in-first-appearance-in-chicago-as-presidential-candidate/

Despite folks claiming that Illinois is squarely with Team H, thousands showed up. The line was long, the crowd polite. After a turnout like this, I don't think that claim is true.

Chuy Garcia, who entered the mayoral race quite late, and still managed to ding Rahm on a variety of points, was there and made his feelings quite clear. By all accounts, Bernie wowed the crowd.

Clarence Thomas

I rarely write off any individual, although a few are deserving of it. Clarence Thomas is rather interesting.
His self-imposed silence on the bench is unique, at least in my view of the court's history. No comments, no questions, rarely showing emotion. Mostly, I thought it was anger at the process and the confirmation hearing he went through. The merest mention of Anita Hill, cans of coke, or pubic hairs, must still boil his blood. (Let's ignore the justifiable outrage that she must have suffered, too)

But two things happened this week, and I suspect that both will have a/some/minimal/discrete impact on his psyche.

First, the Texas license plate ruling was a shocker. He actually joined the majority banning the use of the Confederate flag on Texas license plates. Perhaps he finally realizes just how fragile our race relations are, and how this simple reminder of war, racism, slavery and torture simply is unacceptable in this day and age.

Second, the horror in South Carolina, in the oldest, most respected church in that city, where 9 blacks, including six women, were gunned down in cold blood.

That has to send a message, even to someone who is so conservative, protected from the masses, and convinced of his absolute correctness on the matters of policy, procedure, law, and constitutional history.

I am a fat, middle aged, white liberal who believes in no god at all. And yet, my heart is breaking at what happened there. I simply find it impossible that Thomas would or could remain unaffected to his very core at this bloodbath.

Perhaps this will open his eyes just enough to realize that our society needs a lot of help, a lot of healing and a lot of investment. In schools, roads, jobs, middle class, and race relations. Perhaps it will lead to an epiphany which would change how the USSC deals with reality and our nation's future.

Perhaps. Or perhaps, his law clerk made a mistake and registered the wrong vote on the Confederate Flag issue.
