This is the tendency for the first items presented in a series to be remembered better or more easily, or for them to be more influential than those presented later in the series. It was popular in the early days of computing, but applies even more today, when powerful computers can produce large amounts of erroneous information in a short time. The first use of the term has been dated to a November 10, 1957, syndicated newspaper article about US Army mathematicians and their work with early computers,[1] in which an Army Specialist named William D. Mellin explained that computers cannot think for themselves, and that "sloppily programmed" inputs inevitably lead to incorrect outputs. The underlying principle was noted by the inventor of the first programmable computing device design:

Imagine what this means for a Trump presidency.
Today, we have confirmation that Trump does not read. Much like Peter Sellers in Being There, he watches "the shows." That is how he gets all of his information. A serious student of policy, politics, or history he is not. He thinks not with his brain, but with his gut.
This means that the loudest, freshest, and first voice and opinion that he hears will be one that he follows a good deal of the time (primacy). It also means that the last person to get his attention and keep it long enough to get hat person's point across is also more likely to impact what Trump does.
Lastly, given his disdain for study, his lack of experience in politics and administration, his short hours of sleep (reportedly less than 4 hours a day), and his limited attention span, GIGO will clearly apply.
As Babbage pointed out, "I am not able rightly to apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question," we can be sure that the information that Trump received and comprehends will consist mainly of garbage. Regardless of how he processes that data, the only conclusion that is possible is that the output from Trump will also be garbage. Combined with the arrogance of a nut who believes he and only he is correct, and that his gut instinct is far better than any brainiac's analysis and rational thinking, this means that his presidency will be a disaster.
What is even more unfortunate is that this kind of base level approach appeals greatly to those who are uneducated, unread, hate thinking (and who think teaching "critical thinking" is a sin), and who never read, be it a book, a newspaper, or a magazine. His most common reaction to any slight, perceived or real, is to strike out . . . and there is where his real talent lies. He has an uncanny ability to find the weakness of his target and exploit it. That is the only reason that he decimated the GOP nominees with such dispatch and speed. He not only did not play by the rules, he threw the rule book away.
Interestingly, such tactics only work for him. Christie tried, and he paid the price. Rubio tried, and he now looks like a pathetic loser. Romney almost tried, but realized that he was out of his league.
In fact, of all the politicans who have faced up to him, only Elizabeth Warren has found the means to spoil his attack, and take full aim at him. Glad she is on our side.

By some media accounts, The Great Orange Hairpiece has been under the control of his handlers and has deliberately kept a low profile. By low profile (Trumpian standards) this means:
a. Trump demands that Ruth Bader Ginsburg be removed from the Supreme Court because she dissed Teh Donald.
b. Trump claims that he saw somewhen, somewhere, somehow, a call for a moment of silence for the slain gunman in Dallas.
c. Hillary created ISIS.
d. Trump claims that he is the Law and Order candidate, mimicking Nixon from years past.
e. To top it off, the man who spearheaded the Birther conspiracy against Obama, now claims that Obama has made race relations worse in the country.
And that was just this week, folks.
Today, the news broke that Trump will be announcing his running mate on Friday. While it seems to be good news for that walking, talking mindless robot from Indiana, Mike Pence, (who must announce his candidacy for re-election as governor of Indiana by Friday) I do not believe that Trump will choose him.
Rather, just like he played several GOP candidates (Chrissie Christie, for one) and got them to lick his boots in public, I think Trump is playing Pence and the media. Again. He is going to choose someone so crazy, so bizarre as a choice, so unsuitable, that the GOP will have no option but to boot him out of the convention. His daughter? His son? Marla Maples? Ivana?
Whoever his choice will be, it will be a guaranteed media splash, another opportunity for Trump to rub it in the faces of everyone.
Trump is not running for president. He is running for Trump. I do not believe he will last out the month as a candidate.
What is Hillary's campaign doing?
According to TPM, Her lead is down to 3 points. Against a crazy narcissist like trump! All this playing it safe, plodding along, refusal to take risks or make new policies - that was fine for a primary battle, but not for the general. She is not taking major steps to attract voters, especially the youth or former Bernie supporters. That is not a good sign.
I hope folks realize she can still lose this thing.
My nachtmare? Trump quits and is replaced by someone far less repulsive.

We best get used to it. If you think that Obama had it bad during his eight years, (in which every effort to reach cross the aisle was met with an axe) you haven't witlessed anything yet. By comparison, the GOP of Bill Clinton's day was empathic, warm, cuddly, and loving.
What they have done to Obama was just minor league practice compared to how they will treat Hillary. The poutrage currently on display against Comey and Hillary (not to mention Loretta Lynch - thanks again, Bill) is just warming up.
While she was not my first choice, there really is no comparison when we face a potential Trumpenstein presi-duncy. But one word of caution and warning. The general public will be swayed and pushed, pulled, punched, and gobsmacked by the attacks against her, even before she takes office, and it will only continue and grow as the weeks and months drag on. Congress will accomplish nothing, especially if the GOP and Tea Party still maintain control. They will be too busy plotting impeachments, investigations, special committees and hiring special prosecutors.
For her entire term in office.
Chilcot's real tragedy?
It shows how inept the US press was, and how well the post 9/11 coverup worked, the lack of any actual inquiry, including any rational, "Professional" investigation of the horrible decision to invade Iraq.
Congress failed, the military failed, our media failed. And now Iraq is a failed state and home base for ISIS.

The Texas Secession Movement
According to friends who still suffer in the Austin heat, the Houston humidity, and the Dallas' modesty, Brexit has been a real shot in the arm for those who wish to leave the union.
The Texas Nationalist Movement was first given a boost by Rick Perry, who on one hand pissed on the Obama administration at every possible turn, while at the same time he was seeking federal aid in times of drought and other disasters. He even suggested that Texas leave the union in several public appearances. Makes you wonder why he wanted to be president - but like so many Tea bangers who hated the federal government, while they ran for national office, rationality and consistency is not a strong point in that group of people.
Texit, as some now name that bowel movement, has the secessionists all in a dither, excited as a fat kid finding the key to candy shop after hours. Obviously, those who seek to leave our country haven't really thought things out.
MILITARY
There are 32 active Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard bases in Texas. Not including the Coast Guard, there are 126,000 military in Texas, by far the most in the country, with North Carolina the next highest at 112,000. Add to that another 50,000 civilians who are directly employed by the Military, and you could see that secession would have an immediate, adverse impact on the employment picture and the state's economy.
NASA, AEROSPACE, AVIATION
Texas boasts that it is the largest employer in the aviation and aerospace industries, with more than 153,000 employed there. Imagine how many would leave if Texas was no longer a part of the USA. Probably the vast majority.
CULTURE
Outside of Austin, there is none, so no great loss either to Texas or the US.
Even Trump has weighed in on Texit. He claimed that he understands how and why Texans are upset at the federal government, and that things would change once he is elected.
Texit is a pipe dream of some demented, short-sighted, irrational folks who hate anyone who is ejumicated, doesn't wear cowboy boots, or a 10 gallon hat. But, then, I thought the same thing about a Trump presidential run.

There is another boost to the Texit movement - today's Supreme Court decision affirming a woman's right to chooses, unfettered by some bible beating, christianist Texans who give two shits about a woman's real health issues. I don't think we can discount just how crazy some of those bible beaters are in Texas, given how they seem to seed and grow mega churches down there.

I suspect that CNN is already having buyer's remorse after hiring this royal POS.
He remains a loyal trumpette, he is proud of what he did, and he barely - barely - admitted that he signed a non-disclosure agreement with Trump, his companies, his kids, his kids' companies, and the campaign.
The whole interview was little more other than "Trump is great, I am so proud to have worked for him, he is a game changer, and he is a winner!" He simply ignored any harder question and repeated his stalking points.
What a waste of time and money, CNN. What wuz you morans thinkin?
What Lewandowski's firing means for the Trump Campaign
Like many folks, I first treated Donald Trump's entry in to the GOP campaign as a joke. Then, it struck me that he was precisely the guy to excite the nuttiest nuts in the nut factory. About March, April, I was convinced that he was going to win the nomination.
But, at the same time, I always felt that his whole campaign was a joke, a put-on job, an ego-stroking, masturbatory effort at selling his personal brand. And, I was convinced that he was going to find some escape route, a means to quit while gaining the maximum amount of free coverage.
Like any PT Barnum apprentice, Trump instinctively knows what will create media attention and grab the short attention spans of the functionally illiterate, the willfully ignorant, and those morons who actually believe that the Tea Party was started as a ground roots movement. He has been a master at it, and has achieved an enviable success. Considering just how few Tea partiers remain, and how lucky we are to have a small, demented, but extremely vocal minority of imbeciles, morons, anti-intellectuals, and flat-earthers, Trump's success is almost unbelievable. Considering that Trump got 14,000,000 votes throughout the campaign (and I would suggest that 4,000,000 of those were protest votes, sarcastically cast, or used to protest our gamed economic and social systems) that means that Trump acheived the unthinkable.
If the net percentage of America's population were broken down into mental capacity, knowledge, experience, and relative "sanity" groups, this means that Trump earned 85% of ENTIRE moron vote in America. That is an astounding figure.
Given the growing hatred of Trump, especially on GOP side of the aisle, I had expected him to concoct some lame, unprovable excuse, and retire from politics. He just would not work as president, and the demands on his time would drive him crazy.
Unfortunately, all of my predictions, ideas, and predictions about this race just went out the toilet. Down the window? Something like that. Lewandowski had two things going for him. He was as rude and arrogant as his boss, and he had the ultimate insider's respect and reliance that Trump had deigned to award him.
This was, under Lewandowski, a loser's campaign, run by a loser, organized by a loser, promoting a loser, in a race that the loser was going to lose. By any measurement, the Trump campaign was a disorganized, bundle of inane, often contradictory, and pointless decisions made by one person - Trump - and put into action by his closest aide, - Lewandowski.
What his resignation means is that Trump took to heart some advice from someone within the GOP monstrosity, someone got his attention, and gave him strong advise on what he needs to to do campaign successfully. Given just how little Trump likes or takes advise from others, I suspect it was an interesting meeting or conversation.
The upshot is that Lewandowski is gone. It also means that Trump is in it to the end. It means that Trump now wants the presidency. Bring out your popcorn and fasten your seatbelt. It will be a hell of a ride for the upcoming months.

On edit. It looks like the folks who got TRump's attention were adult family members. Either way, the prediction that he would withdraw was just plain wrong. With his family supporting his presidential campaign, he has wrapped himself into a bubble chamber in which he can do no wrong. And that means he is running for president.
