https://www.facebook.com/events/1756631744665376/

http://f17strike.com/

How To Participate

We encourage all who are able to demonstrate their resistance in any of the following ways.

Do not work (if possible). Post your support on social media.
Do not purchase anything.
“#BreakLunch” Use your lunch break to disrupt and participate:
Use social media to show how you #BreakLunch. Tweet, FB, Instagram, and Snapchat messages that support democracy. Include hashtags #BreakLunch, #GeneralStrike, #F17
Donate your lunch money that day to cause you believe in. Post about it and use those same hashtags.
Get creative and show the world how you #BreakLunch
Reach out to your representatives in Washington DC or your state and tell them why you are “striking” today, and post about it using strike related hash tags.
Join with other like-minded folks and occupy public space with positive messages of resistance and solidarity on our events page.
Get creative, always be nonviolent, and consider fun ways of showing dissent.
Participate in the National Day of Community Serviceto coincide with the General Strike on February 17. We hope this will allow folks who cannot ‘strike’ to take advantage of their employer’s commitment to Community Service and Community Service Leave request systems. We will announce more details and how to participate once we have confirmed commitment from institutions with whom we are currently negotiating.
Make your feelings known at any of a series of First Amendment Open-Mic gatherings. Again, more details and participating venues to follow.
If you are a teacher or student, please consider participating in the National Teach-In on Democracy set to take place February 17. Keep your students engaged.
This is not a National Day-Off; we’ve got work to do!! Get out and get busy!!! Be Peaceful! Have fun!

Kellyanne Conway smacks Steve Bannon after he inappropriately touches her - video

The incident actually took place on inauguration day, and aired live on CNN but went largely unnoticed at time. However it’s recently surfaced on social media thanks to a user named @fionabren and then spread wide by @KaivanShroff. The video clip, while not the best of quality, clearly shows Steve Bannon walking up behind Kellyanne Conway and placing his hand somewhere on her back. She then looks over, sees that it’s him, and smacks his hand away. There’s no audio, so it’s difficult to judge the specific context of what was going on, but it’s a bad look for Bannon considering his alleged history.

Monsanto, California Battle Over Listing Glyphosate as a Carcinogen

Next week, Monsanto and California's Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) will face off over the agency's plan to list the herbicide glyphosate as a carcinogen. The outcome of this legal battle could have major ramifications to California's long-established regulatory program.

It all started back in Sept. 2015 when the OEHHA issued a notice of intent to list the chemical as known to the state to cause cancer under the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, commonly known as Proposition 65. The OEHHA determined that glyphosate met the criteria under the "Labor Code" listing mechanism, which directs the office to add a chemical or substance to the Prop 65 list of known carcinogens if it meets certain classifications by the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). The France-based IARC concluded that glyphosate is "probably carcinogenic to humans (Group 2A)" in March 2015.

The OEHHA has received more than 9,300 written comments in response to the listing. The comments are mostly from individuals and groups supporting the proposed listing. Monsanto, chemical producers and industry groups have also submitted comments opposing the listing. The public comment period is now closed, and OEHHA has yet to take final agency action on the listing.
