Children 'dumped in streets by Greek parents who can't afford to look after them any more'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2085163/Children-dumped-streets-Greek-parents-afford-them.html

Children are being abandoned on Greece's streets by their poverty-stricken families who cannot afford to look after them any more.

Youngsters are being dumped by their parents who are struggling to make ends meet in what is fast becoming the most tragic human consequence of the Euro crisis.

It comes as pharmacists revealed the country had almost run out of aspirin, as multi-billion euro austerity measures filter their way through society.

Another monstrous bank foreclosure story creates a new #Occupier!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 9, 2012

Long-time South Whittier (California) resident, Virginia Hosking has been told that she needs to move. Hosking is another victim in the foreclosure market. After a job loss, unemployment and her husband’s unexpected death about 18 months ago, Hosking received a knockout punch from the Bank of America. They foreclosed on her home of thirty years.
During a recent garage sale, Hosking tacked a sign onto the side of her house, located at 10656 Ceres Avenue in Whittier, stating: Really Bank of America? After thirty years?

“The foreclosure caught me off-guard.” States Hosking. “I had been trying to get Bank of America to work with me and lower the payments so I could maintain ownership, and the people at the bank told me they would work with me.” So it came as a surprise when Hosking learned that the foreclosure had taken place and she was served a notice to move. When Congresswoman Sanchez’ office called Bank of America to inquire, they were informed that Bank of America representatives had worked with owner Wilson Hosking for the last 12 months to amend payments but were unable to get anything accomplished. This came as a surprise to Virginia Hosking as her husband had died 16 months previously.
Hosking has found a home and she and her daughter, Krystle Hosking, are busy moving their belongings. Hosking is planning an “Occupy” moment before she leaves. Her anger over the bank bailouts and the abuse the bank shows to its customers has been overwhelming for her. She plans to “camp out” on the last day she is allowed to be in her home. Her friends, family members and members of Occupy will be in attendance. Hosking said, “I have a great deal of respect for the Occupy Movement that is standing up to big government. We need to show our outrage.”
Occupying will begin Monday, January 16th in her front yard area. Come join our day of protest and education at her home."

NY Daily News: NYPD removes barricades from Zuccotti Park, protesters return

http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/occupy-wall-street-article-1.1004353

The NYPD cleared barricades around Zuccotti Park Tuesday — one day after rights groups sent a letter to the city demanding their removal.

“We determined they were not needed,” said NYPD spokesman Paul Browne.

Occupy Wall Street protesters Tuesday night celebrated the removal of the barricades, in place since police cleared demonstrators from the park on Nov. 15.

“We can finally breathe,” said Al Burgo, of Brooklyn. “This is sacred ground.”

Here is the letter which brought down the barricades at Liberty Plaza! (Zuccotti)

http://www.nyclu.org/files/releases/NYCLU_letter_to_LiMandri_01_09_12.pdf

HAND DELIVERED AND SENT VIA FIRST CLASS MAIL
January 9, 2012
Commissioner Robert LiMandri
Department of Buildings
280 Broadway, 7th floor
New York, NY 10007
Re: Violations at 1 Liberty Plaza

Dear Commissioner LiMandri:

The New York Civil Liberties Union, the Center for Constitutional Rights, and the National
Lawyers Guild’s New York City chapter write regarding the ongoing violations of city law at 1
Liberty Plaza (165 Broadway), owned and managed by Brookfield Office Properties. Since
November 15, 2011, metal barricades have encircled the perimeter of Liberty Plaza. In
addition, members of the public are subject to ad hoc, arbitrary and inconsistent rules and
conditions restricting their use of the park. These practices have substantially modified Liberty
Plaza, making it a wholly inhospitable space for the public. Putting aside for the moment the
serious constitutional concerns raised by these practices, it is abundantly clear that such
restrictions are in direct conflict with zoning laws, Brookfield’s legal obligations under a 1968
special zoning permit, and longstanding City policy. These restrictions significantly interfere
with the public’s use of Liberty Plaza on an ongoing and daily basis, and should be ended
immediately.

A. Laws governing Liberty Plaza require unobstructed public access and prior approval of
design modifications.

Fox news holiday card shows their viewers as SHEEP!

http://12160.info/profiles/blogs/fox-news-holiday-card-shows-their-viewers-as-sheep

In what's becoming an annual media tradition, Fox News used its holiday card to wish friends and family well this holiday season--and take a swipe at CNN and MSNBC.

The front of Fox News' 2011 card--distributed to media journalists including this one--features a cartoon fox leading ABC, NBC and CBS in a sheep-sled race, with the jockeys for MSNBC and CNN watching from the sidelines. (The idea is that Fox News, the top-rated cable news network, is so far ahead, it's now competing against the the Big Three networks.)

They have just total disdain for their idiot viewers, proof they are consciously deceiving their viewers and are laughing about it.
