U.S. boosts its military presence in Persian Gulf

The Pentagon has stationed nearly 15,000 troops in Kuwait, including a small contingent already there. The new deployments include two Army infantry brigades and a helicopter unit, a substantial increase in combat power after nearly a decade in which Kuwait chiefly served as a staging area for supplies and personnel heading to Iraq.
The Pentagon also has decided to keep two aircraft carriers and their strike groups in the region.

Activists cleverly, non-destructively deface Bank of America ATMs in San Francisco
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/01/13/activists-deface-bank-of-america-atms-in-san-francisco/
Activists with the Rainforest Action Network recently devised a clever way of promoting their message: defacing Bank of America ATMs with non-adhesive stickers that look like the banks software interface, bearing some startling truths about the nations largest financial institution.
As part of a campaign theyre calling Bankrupting America, the activists claim to have visited 85 ATM locations, turning the automated teller machines into automated truth machines.
Their sticker asks users to select your transaction, with options like: invest in coal-fired power plants, foreclose on Americas homes, bankroll climate change and fund executive bonuses.
Occupy LA: Scenes From the New Revolution // Part 2: The Outliers
http://www.takepart.com/video/occupy-la-scenes-new-revolution-part-2-outliersScenes from the New Revolution is a five-part documentary series written and directed by journalist Sam Slovick, whose research into Occupy Wall Street led to his living in a tent at City Hall in Los Angeles alongside the 99% movement for the better part of two months.
Slovick accessed Occupy Los Angeles at ground level, illuminating stories and faces that were either overlooked or misrepresented by the mainstream media. Told from the center of the year's biggest story, Slovick articulates the global movement through interviews with its activists, footage from the inner sanctum, and stories from its foot soldiers, bringing the sometimes-chaotic picture of Occupy LA into focus.
Scenes from the New Revolution was produced with the help of Slake, a highly acclaimed literary journal based in Los Angeles. A companion piece to the series will appear in the journal's fourth issue.

Vermin Supreme attempts to shake Santorum's hand + 10 reasons you need (D) Vermin Supreme!
http://takimag.com/article/vermin_supreme_for_president/print#axzz1hzEh18nC...wait, just when we were about to die of boredom, a man with a boot on his head shows up and tries to shake Ricks hand.
His name is Vermin Supreme, and although hes also running for president, he wanted to congratulate Santorum on a great campaign. This brief moment of sanity was met by rage on all sides, and Supreme was mobbed. He disappeared in a flurry of fists and his media director FluxRostrum was sent careening to the ground. Afterward, Supreme shrugged and told a reporter hes OK: Im tough and rough like that.
While everyone was using a handful of homos to trot out the same old beefs, a hero broke through the crowd and exposed them for what they really are: a bunch of hysterical babies who will do everything in their power to prevent people from shaking hands. Thats all this election is. Its a bitchfest.
