Our Last Night in Dusseldorf: A Verbal Tour of Siberia and a Quick Side Trip to Arabia!

That night was Mrs. DFW's birthday, plus an old friend of theirs was in town!

We went to the restaurant ArabesQ! And yes, that 's how they spell it.

Their friend is a journalist of many year's standing and very knowledgeable about Europe and the world in general. We talked about the 2016 election, the role Russia played, and like that. I'm not as smart as DFW and his friend, but I greatly enjoyed listening to them.

Group photo: I think you all know who's who!

And a couple of photos of the food:

It was a great evening and a fitting end to our visit! Hope you enjoy.

What do you do when confronted with one of the world's greatest cuisines?

Why, have lunch there, of course!

Döner Kebap meat, tzatziki and Turkish salad! Chicken with Greek spiced yogurt. Absolutely wonderful!

How disaster turned to joy, thanks to Nikon!

We're visiting DFW and his lovely wife here in Germany.

I was busy taking photos and then it was time to eat, so I placed the camera on a precarious perch.

A loud crash made me look and gasp. I picked up my camera and saw that the window on the back of the camera had a large crack across it.

The camera still worked but it needed to be fixed! The next morning we went to a local camera store, and they recommended that we take it to Nikon's local HQ. So we did.

A nice young lady took the camera upstairs and told us that they would have a look at it and see what was what.

Well. A bit later, she returned with the camera..............it had been fixed! New firmware, the dust removed from the CCD and a new piece of glass on the back!

Well, not quite new. She showed me these very tiny scratches on one edge. I would never have seen them if she hadn't pointed them out. They don't affect how the camera works or anything. Someone had found those scratches unacceptable.

The best part? NO CHARGE.

I was completely overjoyed! We shook hands, expressed our joy and then I wanted to take her photo and I sent her a copy.

Good Times! Major thanks to Nikon!

Someone has a sigline about the enemy with a tool and we didn't recognize it till it was too late.

I'm paraphrasing, of course. And it was longer than that. Something about nobody recognized it.

I tried Googling it and didn't come up with it.

So, if anyone knows what I'm referring to, I'd be very happy to see it.

I think it's highly applicable for our time.

Thanks in advance!
