From Laurie, his wife:

A Christopher Green remembrance: (Sorry, these links are not becoming hyperlinks. You will have to copy them yourself and paste in them to your browser.) They do seem to work as hyperlinks to me.

Researcher says a sinking Santa Catalina could pose tsunami threat--Today's LA Times:

For decades, researchers have debated whether Santa Catalina is sinking or rising.

Now there is new study that makes the case that the island is sinking, albeit very slowly.

A Stanford University researcher says new underwater imaging suggests Catalina could be completely submerged in 3 million years, though that remains in dispute. He also contends the movement could pose a tsunami risk for Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The study's author, Stanford graduate student Chris Castillo, said the potential threat should be investigated further. He said his conclusions came from underwater images of Catalina made by Stanford University last year.

****WCGreen Update --Thursday, April 9, 2015--the Final Update****

I just got off the phone with Laurie, Chris' wife.

The news is not good.

His doctor says he will probably pass in the next 24 hours or so. It doesn't look like there will be any recovery from this overwhelming infection this time. No miracles this time.

It's pneumonia. His blood pressure is low, his fever is high, as is his heart rate.

Laurie's been at his bedside and the family is gathering to say goodbye. She has been talking to him, but she told me there's only been a glimmer of recognition from him.

I told her, keep talking. Hearing is the last sense to go, and he can hear you. Thank goodness for that.

Never again will we hear his intelligent, calm thoughts on current events, on movies, or books, or politics/economics...

Pass gently, Chris...see you on the flip side...

Well, the skies just opened up and now it's pouring!

I hope it lasts, this last late winter/spring storm!

We went into Los Angeles today and saw the Natural History Museum.

Here's a few pictures:

A beautiful old stained glass dome from 1913:

A statue in the old part of the Museum:

This T-Rex was about 2 years old when it died:

What big scary teeth you have!

And a swimming turtle!
