ETA: Someone in that thread noted that those are British cops, but I have seen American cops similarly outfitted.

My Brown Thrasher population has grown.

Four of them have been hanging out in the yard today. Can't tell if it's 2 adults and 2 juveniles or 1 adult with 3 juveniles.

I put up a new thistle feeder last night, but no one has seemed interested yet.

Arkansas virus case count rises by 239

Arkansas' count of coronavirus cases rose by more than 200 on Friday for the second straight day and the number of patients hospitalized with the virus reached a new high.

The state's number of deaths increased by seven, one of the largest one-day increases, bringing its death toll from covid-19 to 132.

The state's tally of cases rose by 239, to 6,777.
---------
The 239 new cases was the second-highest one-day increase outside of spikes associated with prison outbreaks. Just two of the cases were inmates whose positive test results were announced earlier but not added to the statewide total until Friday.

Arkansas has not been hit as hard by this pandemic as most places in the US and many around here think it's been blown out of proportion.

I fear that we are starting to catch up with the rest of the nation.

Coronavirus may never go away, even with a vaccine

There’s a good chance the coronavirus will never go away.

Even after a vaccine is discovered and deployed, the coronavirus will likely remain for decades to come, circulating among the world’s population.

Experts call such diseases endemic — stubbornly resisting efforts to stamp them out. Think measles, HIV, chickenpox.

It is a daunting proposition — a coronavirus-tinged world without a foreseeable end. But experts in epidemiology, disaster planning and vaccine development say embracing that reality is crucial to the next phase of America’s pandemic response. The long-term nature of covid-19, they say, should serve as a call to arms for the public, a road map for the trillions of dollars Congress is spending and a fixed navigational point for the nation’s current, chaotic state-by-state patchwork strategy.
