The combination of the Alex Jonesing of society making everything a conspiracy and the religious right muddying the waters with religious pseudo science, people have their entire own version of reality rather than relying on empirical and peer reviewed results. It's frightening, IMHO.

Like creationists with their “intelligent design,” the followers of these causes come armed with their own personal science, assembled through Internet searches that inevitably turn up the contortions of special interest groups. In an attempt to dilute the wisdom of the crowd, Google recently tweaked its algorithm so that searching for “vaccination” or “fluoridation,” for example, brings vetted medical information to the top of the results.
But presenting people with the best available science doesn’t seem to change many minds. In a kind of psychological immune response, they reject ideas they consider harmful. A study published this month in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences suggested that it is more effective to appeal to anti-vaxxers through their emotions, with stories and pictures of children sick with measles, the mumps or rubella — a reminder that subjective feelings are still trusted over scientific expertise.

The latest hide hrmJustin got had several jurors (obviously Bernie supporters) saying they were voting to hide because his posts annoyed them.
That's what we all face from now on for the sin of advocating for and arguing for Hillary.
It needed to be said.
You gotta give this to the Repugs. They know how to manufacture outrage.
This kerfuffle over renaming a mountain in Alaska from McKinley to Denali.
99% of the Repugs outraged about this didn't even know who McKinley was and had to go look him up after their favorite Conservative pundits told them they should be angry about it.

And I jokingly tweeted it to some of my conservative pundit friends with the caption "You would like this, wouldn't you". They responded yes and retweeted it to their fans. The response was an almost universal enthusiastic "Yes".

The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Pakistan’s Taliban group, also reacted to the news, albeit less enthusiastically, according to the Pakistani publication Khabaristan Times. “You can get as many As in the worldly, Zionist, CIA-sponsored education system but the only A that matters is for Allah,” read the press release.
The TTP’s press release closes with a renewed threat to the activist: “Malala, no matter how much the Pakistani armed forces spank us, you’ll always be our number one enemy.”
