French teenager may become the first woman to play Major League Baseball

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/meet-the-french-teenager-trying-to-become-the-first-woman-in-mlb-192452046.html

Major League Baseball is one step closer to having its first female player. On Sunday, 16-year-old French teenager Melissa Mayeux became the first known female to be added to MLB's international registration list.

That means Mayeux is eligible to be signed by a club during the next international signing period, which begins July 2.

While anyone can attempt to register for the list, only players who have the potential to be signed actually make the cut. Even if Mayeux isn't signed by a club, the fact that she was accepted for the list solidifies her status as a legitimate baseball prospect.

Some within the game have been pretty impressed with her skills, according to MLB.com.

Oldie but goodie From DKos: Someone finally polled the 1% (on various issues) and it's not pretty

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/05/29/1302820/-Someone-finally-polled-the-1-And-it-s-not-pretty

On May 22, The Campaign for America's Future gave a conference on The New Populist Majority. The keynote speaker was Elizabeth Warren. The conference confronted the meme that the US is a "center-right" country.

Most interesting to me was the fact that they obtained poll results from "the 1%." Typically, "upper income" in polling is considered "over $250K/yr" or even "over $150K/yr." Such people are rich compared to most, but they do not have enough money to buy elections with their spare change.

The poll results for this comparison came from the Russell Sage Foundation. "Elites" are defined as at or near "the 1%" in wealth with an average income of $1M/yr or more. The perspectives of this group are compared to responses from other polls such as Pew and Gallup.

I'm not a Bernie fan, but at least DU is finally talking about antisemitic dog whistles in a serious

way and not summarily dismissing them.

Many of us in this group have only been trying for how many years now?

FYI - Beware that Bernie supporters are mischaracterizing posts because they want to get a Hillary

supporter banned in retribution for SKP being banned.

See this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=6789807 and the various subthreads around it.

and this thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=6782740 which culminated in this post http://www.democraticunderground.com/10026782652#post89 where I was laughing at her personal attack on me and threat to post a link, not about what happened to her son. Bernie supporters are spinning it as if I laughed at her son dying to try to get me banned and are harassing me about that in various posts.

Of course I would never laugh about someones child dying, but that is how they are trying to spin that.

If you are justifying use of the "C-word" because someone supports the candidate you support...

... you might have lost all perspective in your support of that candidate.

I find it additionally interesting that many who are doing this have accused me and other Obama supporters of being cult-like or worshippers in my/our support of the President.

It's probably also not coincidental that many of these same folks have criticized me for going on Fox News but have nothing to say about Greenwald, Sanders, and Warren going on Fox News. They tend to bring up my appearances on that network after several exchanges on a subject when they feel they are not getting the upper hand.
