In December of 2013 I was told I have FTD and probably had 2 years of quality life left

For a short time it was thought I had ALS too. Turned out I don't have ALS. As you can tell, I still have some quality left in me.

Here is the link to the story I used to explain FTD: https://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/06/health/a-rare-form-of-dementia-tests-a-vow-of-for-better-for-worse.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all

Each patient advances at their own rate. For me, so far so good.

I'm on Trazadone to slow the advance of FTD. Studies in Great Britain show that Trazadone for some reason does help with that.

I'm still able to get around and communicate. I need to lose a few pounds since I'm pre-diabetic.

I have helped raised over 1.5 million dollars for Biden-Harris: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100214084917

Anyway I get asked from time to time how I'm doing. For now I'm doing fine.

Regards,

OS

The DU has now raised OVER $1 million to elect Joe & Kamala

Yes we did. It happened over night. To everyone that contributed thank you so much.

I've been a pain in the ass to get us to this point. But it worked. Not bad for an old man with dementia problems.

I'm not upping the goal for a few days while we take this all in.

When a DUer needs a little help, the DU answers the call

Just before I was diagnosed with dementia I ran for office twice. The DU raised about $2,500 between the two runs.

When I started the donation page for Joe Biden there was the sound of laughter echoing over in the cave. Almost 1/2 of a million dollars later, they aren't laughing anymore.

Now duhneece is running for New Mexico State Senate District 33. Duhneece is true blue. She could use a little of the magic DU did for me when I ran. As little as $3 buys a yard sign, and a hand written thank you card sent by the USPS.

The DU has already raised $515. We can do a lot better.

I know times are hard for many DUers. IF you can't afford a few $, then please help keep this kicked and give this post an R.

For those that can afford to give a little, thank you. It takes 5-10 minutes for the goal-o-meter to show your donation in the total.

In democratic solidarity,

FOUR graveside flags for 2 Vets, they went up tonight PIX

X post from GD.

My post Saturday: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027929723

Today was the first day in 2 weeks the temps were not in the 90's. It was a pleasant 83 degrees when Marta and I drove over after dinner.

The flags are MADE in the USA. We could not replace the worn 3 x 5 flag on the cemetery pole. It is going to be more involved than we were prepared for. The nut and bolt are seized up by weather. So is the pin you have to pull out to lower the pole. And the flag is attached by radiator hose clamps that will need to be replaced.

OS

Even when the cemetery was maintained well, the two Veterans had no flags.

"In memory of MM1C Vernon Palmer Wall.

Son of Henry O. – Edna N. Wall.

September 11, 1922 – October 7, 1944.

Lost at sea in the Pacific with submarine Seawolf."

The story of how MM1C Vernon Palmer Wall was killed by friendly fire: http://graveyardsofomaha.com/submarine/submarinel_main.html

Memorial Day 2016 you can barely see the top of the memorial because of the weeds.

Saturday June 18th, mowed but no grave flags.

MM1C Vernon Palmer Wall

Joseph Wall is the cousin of Vernon, and son of Dr. William Wall and his wife Allie, and Joseph also served in WWII. Believed to be the last person buried in Wall Cemetery.

The view for those that drive by.

Happy 41st wedding anniversary Steve & Marta

Time flies when your having fun. They gave us 6 months.

For our gifts we picked out jewelry like we do every year at the renaissance festival a few weeks ago.

We think so much alike. By coincidence we picked out the same card for each other. Two cheetah's in an embrace similar to the photo below.

We celebrated with dinner out Friday night.

When we adopted him, he had no place to stay that night

The story begins when I got an email from a friend. She sends all her friends photos of animals that need to be adopted from the local rescue groups. I showed it to Marta.

We weren't looking for a dog at the time. But something about the look on his face got our attention. We phoned the Homeward Bound in the Heartland rescue group: http://homewardboundintheheartland.info/

They told us Dug was left behind when his owners moved out. No food or water. IF the landlord had not checked the property and found Dug,...

Now we were paying attention. They went on to say he had been adopted but didn't get along with their young son. We wondered if his previous home had a child that might have been abusive. We didn't have any kids so no problem.

They then said he was being returned that afternoon. The foster homes were all full up. She couldn't keep him at her place because Dug didn't get along with her dog. We went to look him over. That was June 10, 2010. The rest is history. He has a loving forever home.

He didn't know what jealousy was when he got here. He learned very fast as he watched our other dogs with us. He spends most of his time evenly between both of us.

The reason I'm posting is the photo at the bottom from today.

After just a day or two with us. Like me, he has put on a few pounds since then.

He has no problem getting along with our granddaughter. He sneaks her a kiss as she watches TV in 3D glasses.

All three of our dogs are kissers. All three are rescues. Sweetie's story is here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3581271

Dug asleep on my lap in my recliner.

Sharing my lap with Luka a few weeks ago. They are both on my lap as I write this. Luka is under his blanket. Dug rolled over for a chest rub.

Luka before age put a lot of white hair on his face. We almost lost him 2 weeks ago. The vet did an emergency procedure and he is fine today. Named after a young abused boy that lived on the second floor.

It is a good day when my dementia let's me write like the old days from time to time. I miss it when I can't

Today I went to the BIG 10 baseball tournament final. Marta sent me this picture of him waiting for me to come home.

The cable guy took his break in our backyard and was he was so amazed dial up warning

It was raining at sun up. It was a bad morning. My little pride and joy of over a dozen years was going to the vet. We didn't know if he was coming home at that time. He had surgery. He is home sleeping off the meds in my lap under his favorite blanket.

Our cable was out. The cable guy could not get over all the different birds, animals, and sounds. Yes I enjoyed showing off our little friends.

The Orioles are stealing from the hummingbird feeders, so we had to change those around.

The Baltimore Orioles are the orange color. The males are bright orange. The females are the duller orange: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Baltimore_Oriole/id

We don't have photos yet of our Cat birds, Hummingbirds, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Indigo Bunting, and Summer Tanagers.

I promised some Oriole pix the other day. This first photo is an Orchard Oriole. We have at least two pair of them. You will see the complete photo in the full collection from this afternoon below. Orchard Oriole: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Orchard_Oriole/id

They make a lot of noise fighting over the jelly feeders. Here they are.

Luka before age whitened his face up.

This was taken in my recliner just a few days ago. Dug is easy to see because he is mostly white. Luka is farther away and mostly black. That is Luka's ball he will play with for hours. We throw, he brings it back like he is herding sheep.

My left foot sticks out like a sore thumb.
