Facebook announces forensic audit of Trump data firm Cambridge Analytica
Cambridge Analytica has agreed to a digital forensic audit of its servers and systems in an attempt to show that it deleted certain Facebook data it held on some American users, Facebook said in a blog post on Monday.
Facebook asked the company to agree to an audit after The New York Times and The Observer reported that Cambridge Analytica may not have deleted certain data it had acquired about millions of Facebook users when Facebook asked it to do so in 2015.
"If this data still exists, it would be a grave violation of Facebook's policies and an unacceptable violation of trust and the commitments these groups made," Facebook said in the blog post.
Facebook also said it had hired Stoz Friedberg, a digital forensic firm, to conduct the audit.

WASHINGTON Sitting in a hotel bar, Alexander Nix, who runs the political data firm Cambridge Analytica, had a few ideas for a prospective client looking for help in a foreign election. The firm could send an attractive woman to seduce a rival candidate and secretly videotape the encounter, Mr. Nix said, or send someone posing as a wealthy land developer to pass a bribe.

Senior executives at Cambridge Analytica – the data company that credits itself with Donald Trump’s presidential victory – have been secretly filmed saying they could entrap politicians in compromising situations with bribes and Ukrainian sex workers.
In an undercover investigation by Channel 4 News, the company’s chief executive Alexander Nix said the British firm secretly campaigns in elections across the world. This includes operating through a web of shadowy front companies, or by using sub-contractors.
In one exchange, when asked about digging up material on political opponents, Mr Nix said they could “send some girls around to the candidate’s house”, adding that Ukrainian girls “are very beautiful, I find that works very well”.
In another he said: “We’ll offer a large amount of money to the candidate, to finance his campaign in exchange for land for instance, we’ll have the whole thing recorded, we’ll blank out the face of our guy and we post it on the Internet.”

A disgruntled government contractor who worked with a US spy agency stole high-tech espionage radio equipment worth $340,000, took classified material, and is suspected of leaking sensitive computer code on his Facebook page, according to a new court filing by FBI agents who recently searched the man's home in Virginia.
The documents reveal -- for the first time -- an ongoing investigation of John Glenn Weed, a 57-year-old computer systems architect who developed classified communication systems for the National Reconnaissance Office. The NRO, a relatively unknown intelligence agency, runs American spy satellites and falls under the Department of Defense. Public federal court records do not show that Weed was criminally charged, and CNN was unable to reach him.
The NRO declined to comment about potential damage from the alleged leak, citing agency policy not to provide statements on pending investigations.
The allegations against Weed are detailed in search warrant documents filed in federal court. They describe a five-year investigation that peaked last week, when FBI agents raided his family home in rural Fredericksburg, Virginia.

The material was meant to be sold for some 70 million dollars, reports the Turkish NTV news channel. The source of the radioactive element and the identity of its buyer remain unclear
Turkish police detained four men in possession of a nuclear substance in the capital Ankara, broadcaster NTV reported on Monday. The substance was found in their vehicle. A police investigation is underway.
Californium, a synthetic radioactive element, is produced in laboratories and nuclear reactors and is often used to kick-start a reactor.
The material was meant to be sold for some 70 million dollars, NTV reported, saying about 1.4 kilograms were found in the raid. The story was also reported by the state-run Anadolu news agency.
The source of the material and the identity of its buyer remain unclear. There was no immediate comment from the Ankara Police or the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority when contacted by DPA.
Californium was first synthesized in the United States during the 1950s, and is currently produced in the U.S. and Russia.

Just to add to this, Bannon was on the (still cryptic) board of Cambridge Analytica. All of his companies—Breitbart, his shadowy production company Glittering Steel (which boosted the Uranium One conspiracy theory in their movie Clinton Cash)—shared a U.S. address with Cambridge.

Filings on U.K. Companies House show that the two top executives at Cambridge Analytica are Directors of a company along with one of Erik Princes’ closest business partners.
