Nightmare plane crash - Oops!

He was hallucinating - Ambien

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/wash-man-takes-ambien-calls-911-plane-crash-article-1.2693986
<snip>
A 75-year-old high on Ambien survived a nightmare plane crash.

A disoriented Washingtonian frantically called 911 to report that his small plane had gone down near Seattle — but the alleged wreck was nothing but a sleeping pill-fueled dream, officials said.

The man, who was not identified, took half an Ambien pill before bed last month because he was recovering from surgery and had trouble sleeping, he told KOMO News.

But hours into his slumber, the man called emergency dispatch. He told them that his small cargo plane had crashed on its way from his hometown of Renton, just south of Seattle, to Oregon. The other three people in the plane were unconscious, he told the 911 dispatcher.

Boris Johnson has unexpectedly ruled himself out of the Conservative leadership race hours after his key ally Michael Gove announced a challenge for the top job, on a turbulent morning.

Speaking at a hotel in central London, where he had been expected to launch his candidacy, Johnson gave an upbeat speech, saying the agenda for the next prime minister was for the UK to become a more outward-looking nation that resets its relationship with Europe.

Latest from Florida - $24 million found in the walls

So cops raided a home in a very upscale neighborhood in Dade County only to discover 24million dollars in buckets in the walls.

http://www.local10.com/news/miami-dade-drug-bust-yields-24-million-in-cash
<snip>
A raid of the home of a suspected Miami-Dade drug trafficker turned up a whopping $24 million in cash, all sealed in buckets.

Tuesday's bust also turned up several packages of steroids and a high-powered automatic weapon.

Based on information from the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Miami-Dade Police Narcotics Bureau raided the Miami Lakes home of Luis Hernandez-Gonzalez and Salma Hernandez.

During the raid, authorities found the buckets concealed within the walls of the home. The money was grouped in bundles of $100 bills.

Hernandez-Gonzalez, 44, is the owner of Blossom Experience, a Miami store that specializes in equipment to facilitate indoor gardening.
Hernandez-Gonzalez was being investigated as part of a group trafficking marijuana out of Tennessee. The investigation includes wiretaps of Hernandez-Gonzalez sharing tips with an unnamed person on how to properly care for marijuana plants.

Islanders forcibly evicted to make way for US base in Indian Ocean

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jun/29/chagos-islanders-lose-supreme-court-bid-to-return-to-homeland?CMP=twt_gu
<snip>
Chagos islanders, forcibly removed from their homes in 1971, have lost a legal challenge at the supreme court that could have speeded up their return.

In a majority ruling, justices at the UK’s highest court said disclosure of Foreign Office documents assessing a feasibility report on the Chagossians’ return would not have altered the outcome of a House of Lords judgment in 2008.

In 2004, the Chagossians’ right of abode on the British Indian Ocean Territory was denied partially on the basis of a feasibility study suggesting settlement would be prohibitively expensive. An assessment of the drafting of this study, which lawyers for the Chagossians say cast doubt on it, was not presented to the original House of Lords court hearing.

Delivering Wednesday’s judgment, Lord Mance said there was “no probability” that a court would have, if it had seen the papers, made a different decision.

About 1,500 islanders had been removed in 1971 to make way for the US base on Diego Garcia, the largest island. Under a deal, kept secret at the time, the US agreed to contribute to the costs of establishing the bases and waive the UK’s payments for joint missile development programmes.

A more recent feasibility study by the Foreign Office, carried out in 2014-15, concluded that resettlement was feasible on the islands if Diego Garcia was included.

A further legal challenge by Chagos Islanders over their loss of fishing rights in the Indian Ocean is expected to reach the supreme court next year.
