Tubby Johnston (from today's Story Corps on NPR)
Kay ran to her brother's room, got a pair of his slacks, put on a baseball cap and signed up as Tubby Johnston.
The alias was from a character in one of her favorite childhood comics, Little Lulu.
Tubby made the team. "Were you surprised that they called you?" Cy asks.
"No, I wasn't surprised at all," she says. "I knew I was good, and I had fooled them so far."
Still, Kay was scared that her cover would be blown, and she'd get pulled off the team. So after several practices, she went to the coach and came clean.

Ok Oregoners, I'll be in Portland for 2 days this May. What should
Mrs FSogol and I should do?
I know about Powells Books and yes, we are both Foodies. What food spots, breweries, and sites should we not miss? What should we see and do? Thanks in advance.
Thanks Democrats. The recent Omnibus Bill signed into law keeps the WaterSense program intact
It has been reported consumers have saved more than $33 billion in water and energy bills since the programs inception in 2006.
IAPMO and its many industry partners have worked tirelessly to show the broad support this important program enjoys, said Dain Hansen, IAPMO senior vice president of government affairs. This coalition includes diverse voices manufacturers, contractors, home builders, and environmental advocates; groups from across the political spectrum. For Congress to include such an explicit provision supporting WaterSense is a victory not only for U.S. business, but also for each homeowner who will continue to see water savings and ultimately lower utility costs.
The bill also has the following funding provisions for water infrastructure improvements:
USDA will get $1.057 billion to upgrade rural water and wastewater infrastructure;
The Department of the Interior will get $196 million for the implementation of drought-related provisions of the Water Infrastructure Improvement for the Nation Act of 2016;
The EPA will receive $2.89 billion, an additional $300 million, in funding for the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Loan funds, which helps state and local government fund water treatment and other infrastructure;
and
The EPA will receive new funding in the amount of $63 million for the EPAs Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act program that finances water infrastructure projects.

Probably a good time for a repost: Conan O'Brien finds Dr. Ronny Jackson's tv ad
http://teamcoco.com/video/trump-s-doctor-has-his-own-tv-adRusty Staub passed away at age 73.
Known as Le Grand Orange, he was the first star for the Montreal Expos, but was a well-know Met too. He played 23 seasons in the majors.
Why post about a ball player in GD?
Rest in piece, Mr. Staub, you'll be missed.

The worlds biggest tropical greenhouse under one roof will be built in France
Northern France is not the first place one would think of when looking to find tropical flora and fauna, but thanks to the recently unveiled Tropicalia project, that is exactly what hundreds of thousands of visitors per year will find.
Tropicalia, designed by Coldefy & Associates Architects Urban Planners, will be the worlds largest greenhouse under one roof once completed in Rang-du-Fliers in Pas-de-Calais. The massive greenhouse will offer an immediate change of scenery to visitors who take the journey along its over one kilometer-long footpath that winds through dozens of animal, tree, and flower species.
The self-sufficient structure produces energy through the use of a double dome that creates a room where air is heated through a greenhouse effect. The building is designed to blend into the surrounding environment and is set partially in the ground to lower its height and impact. Its profile within the landscape is that of a small hill.
Construction of Tropicalia is scheduled for the first semester of 2019 with a planned opening in 2021.

Geneva Motor Show Debuts 2 flying car concepts
On the ground, the speed range is 50 kilometers per hour up to 160 kilometers per hour (30 to 100 miles per hour). The top speed acceleration is just under nine seconds. The engine of 100 horsepower has a fuel economy of 7.61/100 kilometer with a range of 1315 kilometer (817 miles).
The Pop.Up Next from Airbus and Audi
The power of a driving vehicle with autonomous driving was also on display at the Geneva Motor Show. Airbus and Audi introduced the Pop.Up Next, the follow to the Pop.Up now with self-driving technology on the road that can vertically lift into the air like a helicopter.
The vehicle is a two-seat passenger that has a 60-kW (80-hp) electric powered sled for autonomous driving on the ground. The top speed is 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour) and the 15 kilowatt-hour battery has a 130-kilometer (81-mile) range.

Anyone watch the Netflix original, Mute?
It is by Duncan Jones, who directed one of my favorites, "Moon."
It has been critically panned and ravaged by places like Rotten Tomatoes, but I think a lot of people missed the point.
Suporting actors Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux play a type of damaged Hawkeye Pierce and Trapper John, two army surgeons who have gone awol from the US Army from a never-ending American War in New Kandahar. One is clear psychopath and the other, has worse problems. They aren't the main characters though, Alexander Skarsgård is an Amish Mute searching for his missing girlfriend in the seedier neighborhoods in near-future Berlin. Good performances, complicated story that is simple at its core, and much more left unsaid (record US Army defections). Well worth a watch, imo.
