Meetings around the country.
As the Covid-19 issue evolves and everyday we're finding out that more countries and people are being infected - we need to proceed with an abundance of caution.
I know that planners of such meetings take into account the 'financial implications' of such a decision. These conventions/meetings cost a lot of money and they also generate a lot of money as well. But I believe it is short-sighted to take only money into account.
Bringing in to this country - people from all over the world - to converge on a city and a venue - is putting not only the attendees at risk - but it is putting the people that work the venues; union people that assemble and dismantle booths; people that work the halls - all in danger of coming into contact with someone that might be infected or carry the Covid-19 virus.
It is also putting the city that these conventions/meetings are being held in - in danger as well. Attendees will be using airports; public transportation; hotels and hotel workers; restaurants and shopping areas in danger.
Planners of these events need to be responsible and take all this in consideration and serious consider postponing or cancelling these international conventions/meetings until more is known about how this virus is transmitted and managed.
People's health and lives may be at stake here. I rather we be safe than sorry.

his rich Mar-A-Lago members to jump into the market and buy - so that he can point to the market numbers and say - see - look the markets up today. This is all just a hoax perpetrated by the Dems?

Should Major Meetings/Conventions Be Cancelled Because Of The Covid-19?.....
I'm reading where other countries are cancelling events because of the Covid-19. I'm wondering if the U.S. should consider doing the same.
Many of these meetings/conventions have vendors/exhibitors and attendees that come in from China and other countries where the virus is infecting and killing people.
Most certainly - attendees to these meetings/conventions come from all States in the U.S. and will go back to those States afterwards. If they come into contact with others that may have the virus - the spread would increase dramatically.
So I'm asking should the U.S. take more of a precautionary stance and postpone such meetings/conventions until we have more of a handle on dealing with Covid-19.
I have a major meeting coming up in Chicago that I attend every year. I went to the website of the organization hosting the meeting and they address the situation and are taking some precautions. They will not open the International Exhibits and are deferring to U.S. Customs policies to deal with foreign show attendees counting on them to not allow these attendees who have been in China within 14 days of the beginning of the show to attend the show.
They also indicated that hand sanitizing stations will be placed throughout venue and small hand sanitizer bottles will be given to attendees when they arrive.
I really don't know that this is enough to instill a warm feeling in the tummies of the attendees.
I'm not sure if it is definitively known how Covid-19 is spread yet. Are hand sanitizers enough?
What about the union workers that set up the show - how will they be protected?
Bottom line - even as I type this OP out I'm thinking my best decision is not to attend this year.
But the bigger question is shouldn't the U.S. be more proactive in the decision to even hold such large meetings when we have the threat of Covid-19 upon us?
I'm curious as to what others here may think about this.
How Did Trump Escape The Fate That Harvey Weinstein Faced Today?......
Trump has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault and I believe rape. His infamous comments from the bus about how he takes advantage of women was an admission of his guilt. He's paid off Stormy Daniels. I think one of his wives even accused Trump of rape or assault. These are all the incidents we know about.
How was Trump able to skirt by all these accusations? Why wasn't this pursued more by the press and the lawyers by these women? Was this all a matter of him using NDA's?
All of this happened before Trump won the presidency. Is he protected now - because a sitting president can't be indicted? Seems to me if all this was followed up with - we might not be stuck with Trump as president today.
Any thoughts?

You can be sure that Trump, the Repugs and the Russians are monitoring the back and forth here on DU and that it will come back to haunt us and be used against us in the future before Nov.

Could we now say that Trump and the Repugs are committing 'treason' because they are actively going along with Russia by not doing anything to prevent Russian interference and essentially condoning Russia's actions?
Now Trump Has Cover And An Excuse If He Loses In November......
he can say that it was because of Russian help that the Dem Candidate won now. He can say that he is contesting the election and use that as an excuse to stay in office.
Essentially - with the help of Russia - he's put himself in a kind of a win-win situation.
