http://www.wsbtv.com/news/trending-now/4-things-to-know-about-sledding-your-way-through-atlantas-weekend-of-snow/660986891

ATLANTA - Clearing out every bread and milk aisle at Atlanta’s grocery stores might have been mission No. 1 for Atlantans preparing for snow throughout metro Atlanta and beyond Friday, but there’s a much more thrilling agenda item coming for tonight and Saturday: playing in the snow!

It’s been a while since we’ve been able to flap our arms and make a snow angel or take a slide down some of Atlanta’s best hills for sledding.

Heroic California Man (Risks His Life) to Rescue a Wild Rabbit Trapped by Flames

https://twitter.com/LaughingSquid/status/938801031491870726

https://laughingsquid.com/man-rescues-wild-rabbit-from-thomas-fire/

An unknown man who was driving on Highway One in Ventura County, California, pulled his car over to the side of the road and seemingly began to behave rather strangely. What this heroic young man was doing, however, was making a brave attempt to catch a wild rabbit who had become trapped by the flames of the devastating Thomas Fire. Luckily, the man was able to get a bead on the rabbit’s movements and quickly caught the scurrying animal. He gently scooped up the frightened lagomorph and walked safely away from the flames.

A man pulled over on the highway and braved raging flames to rescue a wild rabbit as the Thomas Fire advanced in Ventura county.

a small rant about Equifax

Goddamnit, because of your complete and utter incompetence, I now have to have a more or less permanent credit monitoring service. My SSN is on the dark web (I'm sure) being bought and sold by criminals the world over, and now I'm totally vulnerable to scams.

I really hope you fucking go out of business via suits by angry people like me. Just completely inexcusable. It's as if the Social Security Administration opened a website and said HEY CRIMINALS COME FEAST ON ALL OUR DATA!!!!!!!

JFC, I'm pissed. So far so good, which shocks me. I don't expect the "good luck" to continue.

Judicial Panel Orders Equifax Data Breach Cases Consolidated in Atlanta

https://www.law.com/dailyreportonline/sites/dailyreportonline/2017/12/07/judicial-panel-orders-equifax-data-breach-cases-consolidated-in-atlanta/?slreturn=20171107160329

Multidistrict litigation related to the massive data security breach that took place earlier this year at Atlanta-based credit bureau Equifax will be adjudicated in the company’s hometown, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation announced Wednesday.

The panel has assigned the cases to U.S. District Chief Judge Thomas Thrash Jr., a veteran of MDL including the Home Depot data security breach MDL that compromised personal and financial data of an estimated 56 million customers in 2014.

Thrash, appointed to the federal bench by President Bill Clinton in 1997, is known for his fondness for Shakespeare, fishing and tennis—the only three subjects about which the judge has said he is willing to speak freely.

Thrash keeps a leather bound volume of Shakespeare’s plays, embossed with a color portrait of the Bard, in his chambers and willingly pulls it out to look up and recite favorite passages, once telling the Daily Report, ”I do not consider myself to be a Shakespeare scholar. I just love the stuff he writes.”

I'm really sorry to hear he was so rude and ignorant

No need for that, at all. I'm sure you provide excellent medical care. I have seen PA's who gave me good care.

At the other end of the spectrum of insults, let me tell a quick anecdote. I used to work in an HMO setting where the doctors, PA's and NP's all worked for a doctor's group, which in turn had an exclusive contract with the insurance company. It was the true belly of the managed care beast. At any rate, I had a very small private office in the same building as the doctors. Nothing special, just a very small office. The clients would come see me in my office by appointment. I never told or implied to them I was a doctor or PA or NP in any way whatsoever, but many just assumed I was simply because I worked in the same building. I had to frequently correct people with my credentials as soon as they called me Doctor LastName. It was weirdly gratifying but yea, there was no way I was going to allow them to think I was a doctor, when I had not done all the school, training, boards, etc etc etc. I seriously considered going to medical school but by then I was married, had a child and it would have been a huge effort. Not worth it to me, once I really considered it.

Keep up the good work.

No need to be rude

1- I probably exaggerated about the great mystery part.
2- I am non-intrusive about questions to an extreme. My default is to allow people to volunteer.

With that, please avoid me as much as humanly possible on this site. Thank you kindly.

Toodles.

Are enough people raising hell about the pending damage to Medicare ?

http://action.aarp.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=95927.0&dlv_id=124171&pgwrap=n&CMP=EMC-ADV-DIS-null-OTHER-null-null-120617

Medicare is a promise to the American people, one that can't be broken. Demand that your legislators act now to protect Medicare from $25 billion in cuts!

Dear Friend,

Let me spell it out for you, plain and simple: if Congress doesn't act before December 31, Medicare could automatically be cut by $25 billion.

Right now, the House of Representatives and the Senate are debating a bill that would cut taxes and raise the deficit. The larger deficit would trigger automatic cuts to Medicare. Medicare is a promise to the American people, one that can't be broken. There's still time to pass separate legislation to prevent these Medicare cuts and protect access to your doctors and hospitals but time is running out before the end of the year.

We can still protect Medicare, but we have to act NOW. Tell your legislators to prevent $25 billion in Medicare cuts before it's too late.

If these cuts go through, you could lose access to the doctors, hospitals, and other health care services you count on. Patients could be turned away from chemotherapy, rehabilitation services, and other critical care.

Medicare should not be put at risk – and Congress can still make sure your health care isn't on the chopping block.

It's urgent that your legislators know exactly where you stand: Demand they take action before December 31 to protect Medicare from these harmful cuts.

Thanks for everything you do. I'll be in touch soon with an update.

Sincerely,

Fred Griesbach

Who else here is an Anglophile ?

I've been to the UK twice (London, Frome which is near Bath), and I love it. I watch Parliament and the BBC occasionally, and I just love the way they use their mother language so well. One day I'll go back, finances permitting.

You too ?
