Yes we could, he's never stopped trying. Here's Bernie in 1993 advocating for single payer hc:

Thank you Bernie, for never giving up on this issue. A majority of Democratic congressmen recently cosponsored the Medicare For All bill, so it's no longer some socialist pipe dream from the fringe left.

That's what progressives do, they keep trying to make progress no matter how much opposition they face.

Atheist Converts To Christianity After Being Asked What If You're Wrong?

Atheist Converts To Christianity After Being Asked “What If You’re Wrong?”
July 17, 2017 by Andrew Hall 17

Even atheists have guardian angels.

Atheist Martin “Marty” Young converted to Christianity after his neighbor Bob asked him “What if you’re wrong about there being no God?”

The two men were chatting by the fence that separates their two properties. Marty was mowing his lawn, and Bob was weeding his prize winning beef steak tomatoes when the two thirty-somethings took a break. What started out as an innocent conversation about the evils of crabgrass quickly turned serious.

“Marty, we’ve been neighbors for ten years now. I can’t help but notice that your daughter, Abby, is a lesbian. Your boy Stevie is a sissy. Your wife, Mrs. Young, has a reputation for spreading her virtue around town,” Bob observed.

...

“Since you’re an atheist, you don’t care about what happens to your kids or to that immodest wife of yours,” Bob leaned over the fence to give his next point extra emphasis. “But have you considered everything about being an atheist? What if you’re wrong?”

It hit Marty like a ton of epiphanies. His eyes got that far off look. Without saying another word he left Bob, the fence, and those prize winning beef steak tomatoes and ambled into his house to have a lie down in bed.

...

"Marty knelt on the floor and prayed to Baby Jesus for forgiveness. From that day forward he stopped rolling his own cigarettes. After asking his daughter What if you’re wrong? she became straight. After asking his son the same question, the boy started beating up homosexuals.
Marty never asked his wife that question. He liked her dirty ways".

Video of Bernie calling for single payer universal health care in 1991:

And again in 1993:

I'm glad he's never stopped fighting the GOP and advocating for a better solution.

"We don't know for sure that he said that, do we?" was the response last weekend.

Followed by:

"But if he did say that, it would have been despicable."

I'm waiting for someone to say it's despicable now that Svitavsky has admitted to using slurs...

July 16, 2017

It's odd that people keep ignoring Raw Story's article about Svitavsky's transphobic slur.

They keep going to other sites to discredit anyone who posted links to those slurs when Raw Story settled the debate once and for all.

Do they think ad homs will change the fact that Svitavsky posted some very bigoted things on social media?

Here's an excerpt from Raw Story's article in case they haven't seen it:

Bernie Sanders’ primary challenger appears to slur transgender people as ‘lady boys’ in unearthed Facebook post

https://www.rawstory.com/2017/07/bernie-sanders-primary-challenger-appears-to-slur-transgender-people-as-lady-boys-in-unearthed-facebook-post/

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has a primary challenger in Vermont — and it looks like his past statements have already landed him in hot water.

Jon Svitavsky, a homeless shelter executive director, self-described “Christian liberal” and first-time political candidate, appeared to make transphobic comments on a post he made in a political Facebook group over a year ago.

“So if a lady boy in high school, wants to shower with the girls, we’ll just take his word for it??” Svitavksy wrote in the “Chicago Style Politics” Facebook group on May 13, 2016. The post was accompanied by a link to an article about President Barack Obama’s administration’s move to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms that align with their gender identities in public schools.

.....

Raw Story reached out to both Svitavsky and the Vermont Democratic Party for comment, but neither has yet to reply.

Those links are available for everyone to see for themselves, no amount of denial is going to change that fact. They're easily found by anyone capable of doing a simple search on facebook so it's not even necessary to look at screenshots to verify that those posts were made by Svitavsky. I understand why his supporters are trying to deny their existence but it's ridiculous at this point to keep up the pretense after so many people have seen them.

Svitavsky has been exposed in the media as a homophobe and a racist. It's not a question of whether or not he posted those slurs any longer, it's a question of whether or not that's a good enough reason to drop their support of him. It really doesn't matter who discovered the slurs first and exposed him, it's all on record now.

The good thing is that no one is taking him seriously, no one credible anyway. Now that the vetting process has begun it looks like his supporters are in for more disappointment.

If nothing else it hould be fun watching the circus.

Alt-Right Mormon Mommy Blogger Destroyed on Twitter After Sexist Comments

Alt-Right Mormon Mommy Blogger Destroyed on Twitter After Sexist Comments
July 15, 2017 by David G. McAfee

Mormon activist who frequently promotes “white culture” recently posted a sexist tweet encouraging women to give up becoming scientists and stay at home to raise children instead. The response was… less than positive.

Wife With A Purpose, a blogger and Youtuber who refers to herself as a “former SJW now a follower of Christ,” said smart women can choose to be scientists or make six more scientists. “Which serves society better?” she asked.

Does the world really need more people? Really?

First of all, I think anyone who understands the problems overpopulation poses would agree becoming a scientist is more helpful to society than having six kids (you have no idea if they would become scientists or not – and if they happen to be girls they shouldn’t, according to this worldview).

Secondly, why does this Christian blogger think women are incapable of multi-tasking? Isn’t it possible a woman could be a smart scientists and… *gasp* have babies?

There were a lot of responses to the sexist thread, including this one:

But my favorite reply was this tweet thread:

https://twitter.com/HyenaGrin/status/885560485101408258

...

Now, it should be noted that the image from the blogger’s original tweet has been removed due to copyright violations. She later complained that this was a form of censorship.

In any case, Wife With A Purpose ultimately reposted the tweet with an image that isn’t being used without permission. This time she changed the number of children to eight, because having six kids isn’t crazy enough.

...

Overall, I’m not surprised she wrote this sexist tweet. I wasn’t aware of her existence before today, but a quick glance at her profile tells me everything I need to know about her unhealthy message.

She isn’t just sexist, though. She also champions “White Pride” and takes every chance she can to demean other races.

...

This woman has a lot of crazy views and more than 30,000 followers on Twitter, so my only hope is that she doesn’t influence too many of them in a negative way. Given the responses she got to this post, however, my guess is many of these people aren’t “fans” in the traditional sense of the word.

I love it when bigots get owned on social media. Christian mommies who are white supremacists don't deserve to be treated any differently than skinheads, even when they play the victim.

Lololol!

I don't know Rob, that link looks MIGHTY SUSPICIOUS to me.

Does the file contain any foreign language?

July 15, 2017

Oops. Look at those screenshots. So much for all those claims of FAKE NEWS!!1!

I guess Raw Story is in on the conspiracy and shady "internet smear campaign".
