Health directors told to keep quiet as Fla. leaders pressed to reopen classrooms

Health directors told to keep quiet as Fla. leaders pressed to reopen classrooms
https://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/20200807/health-directors-told-to-keep-quiet-as-fla-leaders-pressed-to-reopen-classrooms
As Gov. Ron DeSantis pushed this summer for schools to reopen, state leaders told school boards they would need Health Department approval if they wanted to keep classrooms closed.

Then they instructed health directors not to give it.

Following a directive from DeSantis’ administration, county health directors across Florida refused to give school boards advice about one of the most wrenching public health decisions in modern history: whether to reopen schools in a worsening pandemic, a Gannett USA TODAY NETWORK review found.

...

“When we voted to reopen schools, I’ll be honest and tell you I did it because we are under an executive order to do so,” Marc Dodd, a school board member in Lake County, said last week. “Do I think they’re safe? Absolutely not.”

moRon #DeathSantis is in lock-step with the criminally negligent trump admin and needs to be held accountable! This is insanity!

Feds seek seizure of Louisville's PNC Plaza, say it was bought by Ukrainian embezzlers

Source: Louisville Courier-Journal

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The U.S. Justice Department is seeking to seize the PNC Plaza office tower in Louisville, alleging it was purchased with money embezzled from a Ukrainian bank.

In a complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, federal officials say that the 30-story PNC Plaza, as well as an office park in Texas, were purchased using money embezzled from PrivatBank in Ukraine, according to a statement from the department.

The complaints allege that Ukranian oligarchs Ihor Kolomoisky and Gennadiy Boholiubov, who owned PrivatBank, embezzled and defrauded the bank of billions of dollars. They purchased hundreds of millions of dollars in real estate and businesses across the country, including PNC Plaza, according to the complaint.

The buildings have a combined value of $70 million, according to the department.

uhh... wow

Can't help but wonder if #MoscowMitch or his corrupt wife, Elaine Chao, knew anything about this.

Thinking of taking a quick trip. What do you think of this itinerary...

First stop: Thighland. I heard the chicken is finger lickin' good

Second stop: Kneepal. For the hamberders and covfefe.

BEWARE - Florida Covid-19 numbers will be artificially deflated for a few days

State-run labs were closed Thursday afternoon in preparation for a possible hurricane coming thru the state. They will slowly reopen across the state and should all be open by Wednesday, Aug 5.

Now, this isn't ALL labs...just the state-run ones (like Orange County Convention Center). Private labs and hospitals will still be testing.

However, submission of results will also likely be delayed/reduced due to likely lower staffing at labs and at the state DOH.

FL saw the lowest # of tests/cases in about 6 weeks today. That's most likely an artificial drop.

#CongressmanCovid has such a nice ring to it, eh?

I don't think I've ever been this happy to be able to read work emails!!

14 weeks of furlough are finally over!

I was actually starting the process of looking for another job and considering pulling a chunk out of the 401(k)...no longer necessary.

And I am with any and all who are still furloughed, laid off or otherwise jobless or under-employed. Our govt (well, all TraitorGOP members) have failed America's workers immensely They've removed any last semblance of decency over the last 3 1/2 years. They've shown themselves to be the actual enemies of America. Their projection will no longer hold water!
