A Texas judge interrupts a deliberating jury to claim that God told him the defendant is not guilty.
In Texas, Comal County Judge Jack Robison tried to convince a jury that a defendant was not guilty because God told him so.
By invoking an imaginary conversation with an imaginary God, Judge Robison was trying to “sway jurors to return a not guilty verdict in the trial of a Buda woman accused of trafficking a teen girl for sex.”
According to the Herald-Zeitung in New Braunfels, Judge Jack Robison apologized to jurors for the interruption, but defended his actions by declaring:
When God tells me I gotta do something, I gotta do it.

Just wanted to inform everyone that in Texas no one gets a paper ballot for early voting. All E-Slate machines.
Only on Election Day can you request and receive a paper ballot.
Also JSYK, if you can a mistake while voting on paper, you can request a new ballot from the Election Judge. They will issue you a new ballot, while they spoil the incorrect ballot. You are allowed up to three ballots, but no more than that.
I'll be the Alternate Judge, and will vote on Nov. 6 and on a PAPER BALLOT.

I tried researching for these exact quotes but having a hard time locating them. But I DO REMEMBER!!!
These are the 2 that come to mind.
I believe it was back in the 80's when the repuglicons would use this quote to intimidate the democrats to vote for their legislation.
"The Democrats are soft on drugs/crimes, but we will be hard on drugs/crime."
1990-2000s it switched to ramming down our throats time
"The Democrats are trying to ram this down our throats!"
If anyone can think of any more than these please contribute if you'd like!!!

A special prosecutor was appointed Tuesday to investigate claims that aides to Rep. Scott W. Taylor (R-Va.) illegally forged signatures to help an independent candidate get on the ballot, hoping to give their boss an edge over his Democratic challenger in the midterm elections.
Aides to Taylor, a freshman lawmaker from Virginia Beach, collected signatures for independent candidate Shaun Brown, who analysts say could siphon votes away from Taylor’s Democratic challenger, Elaine Luria.
Taylor, a former Navy SEAL, is seen as somewhat vulnerable to Luria, a first-time candidate and former Navy commander, in a district that voted for President Trump by about four points and backed Ralph Northam (D) for governor over his GOP rival in 2017.
At least a half-dozen people — several with ties to state or local politics — have come forward in recent days to say their signatures or signatures belonging to their relatives appear on election petitions that they did not sign.
They include Del. Glenn Davis (R-Virginia Beach) and his wife, as well as Elizabeth “Bet” Cake, the widow of R. Stuart Cake, a longtime civil servant for the Navy, who died in April, before the date on which he is supposed to have signed the petition.
Forging information on election materials is a violation of state law.
A judge granted a request from Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney Colin D. Stolle (R) to appoint the commonwealth’s attorney for Roanoke, Donald R. Caldwell, to the case. Stolle’s office referred questions to Caldwell, who did not respond to a request for comment.
The names of Colin Stolle’s brothers, Virginia Beach Sheriff Ken Stolle and Del. Chris Stolle (R-Virginia Beach), also appear on Brown’s petitions.

Supreme Court rules one Texas district was racially gerrymandered
The Supreme Court ruled Monday that one congressional district in Texas was drawn in a way that influenced the number of Hispanic and African-American voters in that district, but that three other districts in the challenged map did not violate the law.
In the case, Abbott v. Perez, the court had to decide whether to overturn a Texas state court’s decision concerning congressional and state political districts redrawn after the 2010 census.
The decision upholds Texas' latest congressional map against challenges that said lawmakers drew the boundaries to intentionally suppress votes from minority communities.
Justice Samuel Alito said in the Court's decision that there was not enough evidence to say that the Texas legislature intentionally discriminated when they adopted new maps in 2013, but that the state legitimately wanted to end ongoing litigation about its district maps. He said ongoing redistricting cases are expensive and can cloud the electoral process, so it is understandable that the state wanted to resolve the ongoing questions.

Heads up National Rifle Association members.
Anyone attending Friday's NRA-Institute for Legislative Action Forum — where President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are scheduled to speak Friday — has a strict list of things to not bring into the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
"Firearms and firearm accessories, knives or weapons of any kind will be prohibited in the forum prior to and during (the officials') attendance," according to a statement from the U.S. Secret Service, which is now in charge of security during this forum.
Here's a look at items those attending the sold out NRA forum in the convention center arena may not bring:
▪ Backpacks and bags larger than 18 by 13 by 7 inches.
▪ Drones and "other unmanned aircraft systems."
▪ Glass, thermal or metal containers.
▪ Knives, firearms and weapons of any kind including gun parts, ammunition, holsters and magazines.
▪ Aerosols, mace or pepper spray.
▪ Selfie sticks, signs or laser pointers.
▪ Toy guns.
▪ "Any other item determine(d) to be potential safety hazards."
There will be no storage provided for anyone who brings firearms, but Knife Rights will provide free storage near the ticket scanners for knives and other items named as off limits. The forum is expected to run from noon to 3 p.m. Friday. The NRA annual meeting runs from Thursday through Saturday.
Guns are allowed during the rest of the NRA gathering in Dallas.

Of course I don't have any stats for this statement. As we have learned over the course of this mass shooting the gun lobby has been very successful in stopping any research into this area. So, this is just an observation.
The politicians have made claims throughout the decades to decry the horrors of drugs and how it is saving the lives of children (won't anyone think about the children) and they did everything in their power to create a War on Drugs.
However, when it comes to children and gun violence they are on the ready to defend the NRA and the rest of the gun lobby.
And I suppose it should be pointed out that this flies in the face of hypocrisy with their pro-life agenda (won't anyone think about the children) being shot by careless gun owners?
Perhaps because drugs are illegal there wasn't anyone to lobby congress without the fear of being busted. If there had been lobbyist for the illegal drug trade they wouldn't have created the WOD.
