Can we finally say that the GOP's platform should be coined "Lottery Politics"?

With Jeb Bush's (the newest contender of Mitt Romney's "Most Tone Deaf Politician" title) latest commentary on Medicare, which amounted to "Build the moat, draw the bridge" and warranted more than a few deserved angry responses from those with a brain stem, it's about time to say it once and for all:

The GOP's social and economic platforms almost entirely depend on either patronage, privilege, great luck or all three at once in order to work. In other words, lottery, albeit with various odds.

In the GOP's strange little world:

* You'd better be born to the correct set of parents. Preferrably upper middle class to rich ones.

* You'd better be born in the correct time period (it varies based on economic position in life, location, and employability).

* You'd better be born in the correct country (again, varies on . . . see above).

* You'd better subscribe to the correct mythology, or you're either getting persecuted or have the Bejeezus bombed out of you (and hey, it's a no-brainer, because you can turn all criticisms of your judgement right back to them!).

* Your sexuality better be to their liking, because Bible. And it somehow IS their business, because reasons.

* You'd better have an awesome set of DNA, or it's off to the bake sales and gofundme hell for you, you wealthcare liability.

* You'd better know what you want to do for a living starting around 13. And it better be economically viable.

* The GOP prefers you have a great mind for business. And that business better be a successful one, because everyone working for someone else is eventually going to get replaced by a robot.

* As far as college goes, anything other than STEM is a waste of money, so be inclined to do the right thing for the greater good.

I could go on for days, but the point is this: I would like to think that the path to making life fairer for everyone probably shouldn't involve having the people who don't believe in concepts such as privilege, patronage or luck running the show.

Seems every time America does something right . . . .

. . . . it really brings the fucking creeps, regressives, racists, sexists, hypocrites, historical revisionists, Defenders of the Faith-Based, size-shamers, misogynists, victim-blamers, victim-deniers, the logically challenged and the human rights deniers out of the rotted wood steps of humanity, doesn't it?

Dumb Letters to the PD Dept: Whole Heaping Helping of Hatred.

Jesus H. Christ on a Stick these people just fucking SUCK. A landmark legal precedent has been set and you and your book of half myths can just ABIDE.

Human rights are not a matter of "difference of opinion" and it's the ultimate in hubris to think you can tell someone who they're allowed to love. GROW UP and GET THE FUCK OVER IT, ASSHOLES.

Now that the gays have won in the Supreme Court, now that their "marriages" must be recognized by all the states, it is high time they stop bullying the bakers, the florists, the photographers, and all the other Conscientious Objectors whose deeply rooted religious beliefs preclude any participation in such ceremonies.

OH, WEATHER THE STORM, you delicate flower. Fuuuuuuuuuuu . . . .

The U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision to legalize same-sex marriage in all 50states is a slap in the face to both Bible-believing Christians and all Americans who cherish voting rights and democracy.

Jesus confirmed in the Gospels marriage was to be modeled after Adam and Eve — one man and one woman. This is the way God designed and intended it in the beginning. God created man and woman to be the perfect complement to each other, our sexuality given to us for the purpose of procreation. Additionally, marriage is meant to be a picture of the impending union of Jesus (the bridegroom) when he returns and is joined to his bride, the church (i.e. all who have believed on him as Lord and Savior).

By their decision, the Supreme Court negated millions of votes cast in Ohio and more than 30 other states where voters decided to retain traditional marriage by a wide margin. Ultimately, one unelected official wearing a black robe in Washington D.C. decided for us what he thinks is "best" for the residents of Ohio — and the nation — rather than allowing the democratic process to function. Not only did their actions negate millions of votes, but also the sovereignty of the states as well. Make no mistake: Rule by judges is the single biggest threat to freedom and democracy we face in this nation.

Yeah, that same guy who brought you W. and Citizens United. You know, those two things that you wholeheartedly support. But hey, YOU people are the cherry-picking experts.

It once was said that for evil to thrive, all it takes is for good people to do nothing.

Just because it is legal for same sex "marriage" and just because it is legal for abortion on demand, does not make either of these actions right or moral.

Our society has truly lost its moral compass. God is surely weeping over us, just as Satan is rejoicing. Who is your God?

Justice Kennedy, there is no dignity in sodomy! Dignity cannot be bestowed by a court. No judge can make male-on-male sodomy "worthy of honor and respect." Honor and respect come from within. No man can ever feel dignified as another man violates his mouth or anus. It is the ultimate desecration of manhood.

You can call it "marriage" if it makes you feel better, but two men doing despicable things to each other's bodies can never be dignified. Calling it "gay" does not make it so. Sodomy is filthy; in fact, God calls it abominable.

The Plain Dealer actually printed this. Funny thing is, the way they describe physical acts of sex (particularly when it relates to same-sex couples) . . . . would make Larry Flynt say "Geez, want a job?"

If anyone's wondering why I haven't been here much lately, it's because I feel no one is learning anything from 2016. Neoliberalism is a thing and it doesn't win elections in the 21st Century. People want a candidate that's going to take strong, non-waffling stands on human rights the rest of the world enjoys. Enough living in the goddamned Reagan 1980s. Enough taking solar panels off the roof. Enough introducing more rightwingedness into American economics. Enough medical bankruptcies. Enough governing by mythology. Enough science denial. Enough of spitting on women, children, veterans and the LGBTQI community. Enough kicking the can. ENOUGH. America needs to move past it's "everything has to be about making a buck" bullshit. I'd prefer a candidate not born during the FDR/Truman administrations. No offense, but you had your time . . . and you got us Trump. Plus, I can't take another one of these still-Capitalist Boomer codgers yap on about "bootstraps" when college now costs a mortgage, necessity costs have been outpacing wage growth for 20 years and automation promises to kill more jobs than it creates. I don't want to hear what is or isn't "politically achievable". Kick-the-Can economics was never asked "How is it going to be paid for?". Tax Cuts for the rich were never given a spending limit. Folly wars were never asked "Why is this necessary?". Corporate Pork by the billions was and is always approved. America's safety net needs to be greatly expanded and retirement age needs to be drastically lowered. This country throws out far too many people that still have a decade or two of prime contribution left. If life doesn't get fairer for you or I pretty goddamned quickly, we aren't going to have much of one.
