How much did the economy in the greater Atlanta area suffer due to the

total collapse of the transportation system due to the ice storm? How much would it cost for the Greater Atlanta local governments to go out and buy salt trucks, even if they only use them once or twice a year?

Edit: I'd really prefer municipalities everywhere to quit using salt; it's hell on the environment and I think there are good substitutes out there.

Big Pharma is doing exactly what it's supposed to be doing -

charging the highest prices the market will bear, advertising the products that are profit centers, focusing research based on the best way to make more money rather than to alleviate human suffering, lying though its teeth to protect the stock price.

It's how Capitalism works! If we don't like it, then we need to change the way new medicines and vaccines are developed and produced!

Dr. King, Pete Seeger, Dorothy Day - the establishment is

happy to laud these people now that they're gone and can't make any more trouble!

A serious question not meant as a back handed slam: Andrew Cuomo

Here in NYS, Cuomo's name comes up from time to time as a serious potential candidate for President. Now, regardless of what you think of his actual policies and proposals, tell me what you think his chances are in light of the fact that he and his partner are not married:

Regardless of what you think of his living arrangements, is the majority of Americans ready to let his private life be private and judge him on his public life?

Where are the conspiracy theories regarding the assassination of Martin Luther King?

It was obvious to me when they found James Earl Ray in London that he'd been hired to murder King, then hung out to dry to stop any further investigation.

In 1968, it was unusual to have a passport. Most airline tickets went through a travel agent. Yet we are told to believe that a two bit car thief got out of prison, just happened to get a hotel room with a line of sight to where King was staying, shot King and then flew to London. Meanwhile. authorities magically identified the shooter and found him.

I don't expect the latest and greatest from my local county hospital -

anything serious gets referred to a hospital in Syracuse which has the trauma center, children's wing, cardiac center etc. But setting aside the tiny rural hospitals, is there any difference between the teaching hospitals in the nearest metro center and the big names like Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, etc? I hear of people going to them only to be told pretty much what their local doctors already told them.

IIRC, the Republicans in Congress held up Sandy Aid on the grounds that it would

be mis-used because of political corruption in New Jersey.

Post here is someone you know has made a doctor's appointment after

signing up for Obama care.

My son rushed home from work, picked up his insurance card which had arrived in that day's mail, and went to a doctpr's appointment and found out his blood pressure is too high.
