What's your earliest memory of voting?

I can recall going with my mother when she voted for Jack Kennedy back in 1960. The voting booth was a little white shed with a wood burning pot bellied stove for heat. I don't know if the shed was left in place or moved to a storage area, or if it had any other function.

My kids all remember the clanking, chunking voting machines. One thought that those were the engines of Democracy!

Need some dog advice: WheN Pooka moved n with us, he was a scared little guy.

He didn't make a peep for a day or so, then he barked by accident. He looked around, really surprised that no one was yelling at him.

Fast forward - Pooka is very talkative and likes to bark. Normally, this is not a problem. he is a small dog and we live in a rural area. But last night either the neighbor had a new dog or had the dog chained outside. It started with a couple coyote howls. Then, up until about 3 AM, Pooka would bark, then the other dog would bark, then Pooka would bark.

So, how do I tell a dog to get off the phone and go to sleep?

How many "white" people have relatives who are persons of color? I'm Irish glow-in-the-dark white, but two of my nieces are mixed race. It's important to me that every opportunity open to my children is also open for them. Anyone who says a black man doesn't belong in the White House closes the doors for my nieces as well!
