"Just because I can give multiple orgasms to the furniture just by sitting on it...

... doesn't mean I'm not sick of this damned war; the mud, the noise, the endless poetry."

Hard to believe, but Donald Trump may have led Muslims and Jews to find common ground

NEWTON, Iowa — Donald Trump "would certainly implement" a database system tracking Muslims in the United States, the Republican front-runner told NBC News on Thursday night.

"I would certainly implement that. Absolutely," Trump said in Newton, Iowa, in between campaign town halls.

"There should be a lot of systems, beyond databases," he added. "We should have a lot of systems."

When asked whether Muslims would be legally obligated to sign into the database, Trump responded, "They have to be — they have to be."

Ibrahim Hooper, national spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, sounded incredulous when he was asked about Trump's comments, telling NBC News: "We're kind of at a loss for words."

"What else can you compare this to except to prewar Nazi Germany?" Hooper asked. "There's no other comparison, and [Trump] seems to think that's perfectly OK."

Rabbi Jack Moline, executive director of the nonprofit Interfaith Alliance, drew the same comparison Thursday night.

"My father was in World War II, and he fought to preserve America against what the Nazis were doing," Moline told NBC News.

"This is exactly why there is an America, to not be like that," he said.

Donald Sutherland: 'I could tell you stories but I'd never get another job'

Donald Sutherland talks about his hopes that the Hunger Games franchise will inspire young people to become more politically active and explains why he'll never retire from acting.
In The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, Donald Sutherland is back as Panem's tyrannical President Snow.
This final chapter sees rebel heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) on a mission to assassinate President Snow and liberate her fellow citizens.
Sutherland maintains that President Snow has "immense love and respect" for Katniss, even though she's his enemy.
"If she were his granddaughter, she would rule Panem," he says, when we meet at a London hotel to discuss the latest entry in his 50-year movie career.
"In the first film he is looking for someone to succeed him. She has everything. She's his definitive choice. He challenges her constantly, and she meets those challenges. And right up to the very end, he tries to deliver her little pieces of knowledge and truth."

Song to Revolution

companion farmers,
companion workers,
let us sing in unison
the idea from our hearts

The elderly, the adult,
the infant, and the woman,
sing the deep and joyful
song of revolution

companion farmers,
companion workers,
let us sing in unison
the idea from our hearts

The elderly, the adult,
the infant, and the woman,
sing the deep and joyful
song of revolution

It is not a song to provoke
to anger and to fight
it is the song of work
a hymn of love

an impulse of enthusiasm
that awakens every hearth
and destroys, what's necessary
to build a better place

It is not a song to provoke
to anger and to fight
it is the song of work
a hymn of love

an impulse of enthusiasm
that awakens every hearth
and destroys, what's necessary
to build a better place

Plant your feet on the ground!
your eyes gazing the blue skies,
life is marking the hour
on the human clock.

Students, farmers,
laborers in multitudes,
with the profound voice of the people

Sing to
the revolution!
Sing to
the revolution!

In the book, and the plow,
and the machinery, is our bread
the present, and the future,
the arts, science and good!

The pride of building a country,
and loving liberty.
Love is in our schools,
in the fields, and
in the workshops.

Any one of the Democratic Presidential Candidates would make a fine president.

I have my favorite, but I'll keep that to myself for the moment.

I would have absolutely no problem supporting any of them.

As for the Republican candidates,...

The toe jam of any of the three Democratic candidates has more intelligence than all the Republican candidates combined.

NYT -Sharpening Attacks on Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz Urges New Immigration Limits

ORLANDO, Fla. — Escalating a confrontation with Senator Marco Rubio of Florida over immigration policy, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, one of his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination, introduced proposals on Friday outlining his own approach, calling for a halt to increases in legal immigration “so long as American unemployment remains unacceptably high.”

Mr. Cruz did not detail any plans to handle the cases of the many millions of people in the country illegally. But he heightened an attack on Mr. Rubio’s past efforts to forge a bill in the Senate to overhaul the immigration system, repeatedly assailing those who support “amnesty” for undocumented immigrants by suggesting, among other things, that the approach would help Democrats at the ballot box.

“If you’re supporting amnesty, you’re supporting the Obama-Clinton weakness and appeasement to radical Islamic terrorism,” Mr. Cruz told an often raucous crowd at a large church rally here. “If you are supporting amnesty, you’re supporting the Ayatollah Khamenei having nuclear weapons in Iran.”

Here's what I don't get: How does restricting legal immigration help reduce illegal immigration?

It seems to me that the opposite would occur.
