While Joe Biden arrives in Michigan thTis week as the first US president to join a picket line of striking union workers in over 100 years, rump will appear at a non-union auto parts plant to complain about electric vehicles.....

Trump will do that in the middle of a strike by unionized auto workers, where he will side with auto manufacturers and non-union plants with worse pay, benefits and working conditions that their union counterparts. Trump, throughout his business career, has been overtly hostile to union workers, and this trip will highlight that.

Trump will appear at the Drake Enterprises plant, which is 50 miles away from where workers are striking. Drake manufactures parts for several different auto makers. It is a non-union plant. He claims that he will be speaking to "500 former or current union members." At a non-union plant? I call BS. ....

Drake has several negative reviews on various sites, largely focused on how poorly their roughly 200 workers are treated by management, poor pay, benefits and working conditions. One review on Indeed said "nothing about this job is good longevity-wise and McDonalds pays more ... Back-breaking work for the money."

UAW officials previously communicated to the Biden administration that a visit from the president to the picket line would be welcome, but they had not formally invited him to attend. Union leadership had been frustrated by Biden’s announcement last week that the White House was dispatching two aides to the talks — a trip that was later canceled after the UAW leadership told the administration to either join the picket line or not come at all.

Fain on Friday publicly invited everyone, “all the way up to the president of the United States,” to come to the picket line during a Facebook Live event. Michigan Democrats and other Biden allies had been pressuring him to join the strikers.

Donald Trump, Biden’s likely 2024 presidential rival, has announced he will hold a rally in Detroit next week during the second GOP primary debate. Trump has not said whether he will attempt to join the picket line, but Fain has been clear that the former GOP president would not be welcome there.

Several workers demonstrating outside the Ontario warehouse expressed anger at how corporate profits have ballooned while their salaries have not even kept up with the cost of living.

There are few people more experienced in dealing with the twisted brain space of Donald Trump than Hillary Clinton. And when I asked her during an interview that will air Sunday whether we should believe him when he says that it would be very unlikely he would attempt to pardon himself, she offered an interesting insight into how he operates and a warning for what we should all watch out for.

“He engages in what psychologists call projection,” Clinton told me. “So whenever he accuses somebody else of doing something, it’s almost guaranteed he’s doing it himself or he’s already done it. Or whenever he denies — thinking about doing something or doing it, it’s almost guaranteed he is thinking about it or he’s already done it.”

It’s pretty clear Trump is a serial liar. Just recently, the former president also lied about his engagement with impeachment, saying he isn’t involved — when we know that he has been talking frequently to the House members who are orchestrating it.

Clinton’s insight is a reminder of how it is essential not to take Trump’s words at face value. Because it may all just be projection.

While Mark Meadows appeals his removal rejection in Georgia, three “fake electors” who are also trying to move their state charges to federal court should likewise be denied. After the three co-defendants’ federal court hearing Wednesday, it may only be a matter of time before the same judge who ruled against Meadows rules against them as well.....

So what’s the three fake electors’ removal argument? The indictment alleges, among other things, that David Shafer, Shawn Still and Cathy Latham unlawfully held themselves out as the duly elected and qualified presidential electors from Georgia in the 2020 election.

At the hearing Wednesday, their lawyers said the three had “believed they were legally preserving Mr. Trump’s rights in case a lawsuit challenging the election at the time ended up in his favor,” The New York Times reported. One of the lawyers said they had been “contingent” electors rather than fake ones, with a lawyer for the state countering that not only were they not federal officials, they weren’t electors at all, the Times reported.

Against that backdrop, it’s difficult to see the three succeeding in showing that they acted under federal authority. But Jones still has to rule for us to find that out officially. We’re also still waiting for a ruling on co-defendant Jeffrey Clark’s removal effort, following the former Justice Department lawyer’s apparently bad day in court earlier this week.
