Vance is seeking the records from Trumps accounting firm, Mazars LLP, as part of a grand jury investigation into hush-money payments made to adult-film star Stormy Daniels, who says she had a sexual relationship with Trump about a decade before he became president. Trump has denied the affair and called the probe politically-motivated harassment.
No citizen, not even the president, is categorically above the common duty to produce evidence when called upon in a criminal proceeding, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in the 7-2 ruling denying the presidents claim of immunity.

Donald Trump will get a chance next week to try new arguments against Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vances subpoena of his tax returns and other financial records after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the presidents claim of immunity in the matter.
The high court on Thursday said presidents do not have broad protections against state criminal investigations. The case was sent back to U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero in Manhattan, who set a July 16 hearing date.

Judge asks appeals court to revive Michael Flynn case, permit review of DOJ dismissal
https://twitter.com/kylegriffin1/status/1281308627068792832The full U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit will now decide whether to take a second look at U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivans plan to examine whether the governments move to undo Flynns plea of guilty is in the public interest.
Sullivans request for rehearing comes after a divided three-judge panel on June 24 ordered him to put an end to the case and said Sullivan was wrong to appoint a retired federal judge to argue against the governments position.
In response, Sullivans attorneys told the court that while the panel majoritys opinion is couched as a fact-bound ruling, it marks a dramatic break from precedent that threatens to turn ordinary judicial process upside down.
