Riot gear, pepper spray, not Ferguson. New Hampshire

Pumpkin Festival turns into riot

http://www.necn.com/news/new-england/Crews-Respond-to-Incident-at-Keene-State-College-279673512.html

Riot crews were out in full force twice Saturday in Keene, New Hampshire, after an afternoon party got out of control and raucous crowds returned at night.

In the afternoon incident, at least 30 people were injured near Keene State College. Twenty people were transported to hospitals, according to Keene Fire Chief Mark Howard, who said that injuries appeared to be minor at this time.

At that same time, there had been about 12 arrests.

At Fort Campbell, 101st Airborne ready for war on Ebola

'If you want it done, ask the 101' was the battle cry uttered at Fort Campbell on Tuesday as the 101st Airborne prepared to go to war against the Ebola virus in West Africa

'What can we do?'

In his remarks following the casing of the colors, a ceremony that means deployment is imminent, 101st Airborne Division commander Maj. Gen. Gary Volesky said people keep asking him why the division is being sent and what his troops can possibly do to contain a disease that has now reached into multiple countries, including the U.S.

"I tell them," he said, "we provide a number of capabilities that no one else in the world can provide.

"We're going to bring in construction engineers and equipment to build Ebola treatment units quickly... Our medical professionals will train 500 local health care workers a week to educate the local population on Ebola... We will also provide the capability to resupply critical infrastructure to continue Ebola treatment and prevention programs until the host nation or other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) can take responsibility for these sustainment efforts.

"And most importantly, our presence provides confidence that something can and will be done and we're exactly the right unit to accomplish this task."

Who To Blame When You Get Ebola: A CDC Guide For Healthcare Workers

(by a funny Doc)

http://thehappyhospitalist.blogspot.com/2014/10/Ebola-CDC-Flowchart-Blames-Nurses.html

Nurses are used to getting blamed for everything. In fact, most nursing programs teach nurses how to take one for the team when bad things happen. Getting blamed for spreading Ebola is naturally accepted by most nurses as business as usual.
"After speaking with representatives from the American Nurses Association, everyone agreed blaming nurses for spreading Ebola was just the easiest thing to do," said Jason Fenster, a CDC spokesman who blamed his nurse last year for undercooked eggs while hospitalized for an undisclosed infection contracted at a CDC laboratory.
"I've been in the hospital CEO business for 30 years. Whenever bad things happen in a hospital setting, we can count on at least one nurse to take the fall. In fact, I'm so confident that a nurse is always at fault, we built an entire section into our hospital rules and regulations titled 'How To Blame a Nurse For Anything Bad That Could Lead To A Lawsuit," said Jed Brainer, CEO of Texas Presbyterian Hospital.
