If it's Monday, it's the platitudinous Jonathan Lemire

Actually, any day ending in a “y” qualifies

He just had a piece, interviewing a Republican advisor who you could tell was a real “pro”, about the mess o’ Republican Congressfolk leaving. All kinds of reasons were being given, and believe it or not, they actually touched on the fact that Republicans “may” lose control of the House.

Now, please allow me to say that if the House were controlled by Democrats with a tiny majority, just like this, Lemire would’ve been harping on a daily basis, at least, oh, maybe 17 times, that it is traditional for the House to flip. It would’ve been incessant, in the same matter in which he predicted the non-existent red wave back in 2022.

I’ll be frank with you, I’m not sure why he gets on my nerves more than the rest of them do… I think it’s because of the extreme unctuousness, sanctimony, and faux-surety with which he presents his so-called reportage. My own opinion of him is that he’s a third tier guy who agreed to get up at 2:30 in the morning every morning to do their show because he thinks that it will lead him to greater heights in the NBC pyramid. It well may, given their recent proclivity for mediocrity, but he ain’t no Lawrence Spivak, Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, or Frank McGee, that much I do know.

I don't know about anyone else here, but

I’m getting dozens of emails daily grotesquely denigrating President Biden, these emails claim that they “knew he was out there but they had no idea he was this insane”. As fast as I unsubscribe to say, four sites, I start getting 6-7 other sites pounding me all day. Of course I trash these without even opening them but I swear that some hours I’ll get upwards of 10-15 per hour. These are largely “business-oriented” and suggest imminent collapse, ruination, you get the idea.

Of course I won’t repeat the insanity here, but I can see that after a while, a susceptible individual might begin to believe some of this trash. Makes me want to vomit, fast as a comet. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

HEY!!! LURKING RIGHT-WINGERS!!! HERE YA GO!!!

Since Biden and Beyoncé are coordinating their efforts to take over the Solar system, we compiled some hints for surviving the eclipse.

I am very sad and frightened simultaneously...

I read yesterday of the sudden deaths of two of my classmates, independent of each other, and it occurred to me, at 70+ years of age, that the fate of the Nation if not the entire civilized world depends upon the continued cardiovascular health of a man of my generation. The President appears to be strong and well and I can only hope that this state continues for a very long time for many reasons. It’s sobering any way you want to look at it.

But that’s not all, as the venerable pitchmen say on TV. It got me thinking that the weirdest stuff that can happen seemingly and actually randomly can have far-reaching effects. Not a mile away from the condominium in which I used to live, Senator John Heinz’s plane collided with another aircraft, and he died, plunging into a schoolyard filled with children. I knew some of the parents and their children who were directly affected, and one who was injured quite badly, burned over a good portion of his body, but that is not what I’m referring to. The governor replaced Senator Heinz with a former president of Haverford College, Harris Wofford, who was very strong in the issue of universal healthcare, and it was the beginning of the push to improve coverage within the United States , but that is also not what I’m referring to. Former governor, Dick Thornburgh ran against this senator and thought he would just walk into the seat, but the pundits, the pollsters, and the professionals were quite wrong about that, as they are so often wrong about so much.

The Republicans grossly miscalculated the strength of this issue, and Pennsylvanians were tired of the former governor spending all his time at the Duquesne club pontificating about how he was a great attorney general and dispatched him to the “former“ category permanently. My point of course, is that in a crazy random way, enormous events occurred following a random impossible-to-predict event, the particular nature of which in our lifetime will almost certainly not happen again.

Interestingly, the ship which struck the bridge in Baltimore is another of these random events. Clearly, there is much blame to go around with respect to the sailing and maintenance of this vessel , but the one thing we know is that there will be a tremendous ripple effect emanating from it. We will have to see what happens over the long haul.

As an amusing afterthought, although it truly is not funny, because of the seriousness of this issue, is that the same people who became experts on vaccination, experts on rocket launching and moon landings, experts on the plot of the Kennedy family, to resurrect all of its dead individuals and rule the world, experts in the biological basis of behaviors, and the effects upon them, by chemtrails, experts in absolute morality and legitimate faith in God, their God, experts in astronomy and other world, including the shape of our planet, as opposed to all the other planets, and importantly, experts in being all-knowing about any subject, which the right wing propaganda and hate machine decides, is the issue du jour. One day it’s a football player who kneels during the National Anthem, the next it’s Taylor Swift, the next it’ll be…who the heck knows? Just think, perhaps you might be in a supermarket, or driving up to your relative’s home, or at a museum or doctor’s office, and something will randomly occur that will put you on the front page of newspapers all over the country. Whatever occurred, whatever happened at that moment will, in the matter of just a few hours, be unrecognizable after the hate machine gets finished with it.

These people have caused untold misery for many and if there is a Hell as so many of them believe there is, it would be remarkable to overhear their oh-so-righteous negotiations with the Devil’s emissary, attempting to justify their lies, aberrant behaviors, and grotesque hypocrisy. A devilish sardonic smile will be the reply. One can only hope.

Just had a funny thought...

I was just watching the last part of The Green Pastures, a film about Biblical characters, all Black, including “De Lawd” on TCM.

Nothing…but NOTHING would be funnier than a film wherein all these famous MAGAT’s like MTG and TFG and Ted Cruz and the like, get to the area where they will be assigned for all Eternity just to find that it’s run completely by Black people who understand completely and totally what these racist, hateful creeps have been up to. It would be a terrifically funny version of Defending Your Life (which had its moments) and if done right, as they say, would rival Blazing Saddles in rip-roaring moments.

Where’s Mel Brooks when you need him?

Tis a shame we don't live in a nation that "can take a joke "...

A Swiftian Modest Proposal: VP Harris, before the election, should state that she has in her possession lists of alternate electors from every state. Since the House is widely expected to go Democratic (except by Jonathan Lemire who hasn’t said a word since he was proven to be a giant asshole by the electorate), the House will consider these alternate slates because Democrats foresee problems in the election process. How does it feel to hear that, MAGA fools?

Yes. I know….we can’t do that. But a fellow can dream, can’t he?

Some long-standing questions answered for me, at least:

Two to be exact….the first concerns Ari Melber and his fascination with Rap Music. Today on his show, he admitted that his father, apparently a physician, only allowed Ari to watch TV one hour per week. Thus, he has had the pendulum swing, is a TV personality and is now living his lost adolescence by idolizing a “forbidden” (for him) genre and thumbing his nose at his upbringing.

As a post-script I might add that that officious Zeke Emanuel stated on the same show that he raised his children without a TV in the home. I’m certain that years of therapy ensued for his offspring.

But infinitely more importantly, and I cannot believe that this never ever occurred to me, I realized what Trump sees himself as. If you have read, not simply watched the films, of Ian Fleming’s James Bond, it might be apparent that Trump embodies many of the revolting characteristics of the villain of, in my humble opinion, quite possibly the most interesting novel, Auric Goldfinger.

Goldfinger was depicted by Fleming as the following:

One of the wealthiest men in his country

Loves all things golden or reminiscent of gold

Cheats at golf without hesitation, obviously, and ruthlessly

Is and has been involved in criminal activities but masquerades as a legitimate businessman-jeweler

Uses women as showpieces and dismisses, even kills them without compunction

Has severe bowel issues for which he has many methods of managing them

Is a narcissist

Is overweight and unattractive

Is a traitor - works for the Russians

Attempts to undermine the underpinnings of the US economy by removing all the Gold in Ft Knox

Plans to murder the entire town of Ft Knox including the military BUT lies to his gangster comrades And tells them that it’s just a sleeping potion. Uncaring genocidal sociopath

Believes he is more intelligent than anyone else

Believes he is more competent than anyone else

The book intricately describes all of the above attributes. He is a grandiose, much smarter (but not quite smart enough) version of Trump.

I submit this for your approval…or disapproval.
