CIA director warns of Istanbul-type attack in U.S.

The terrorist attack at Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport on Tuesday has the Islamic State's signature all over it, CIA Director John Brennan said in an interview published Wednesday, adding that the terrorist group is likely planning similar attacks in the United States.
“I am worried from the standpoint of an intelligence professional who looks at the capabilities of Daesh … and their determination to kill as many as people as possible and to carry out attacks abroad,” Brennan told Yahoo News, using the acronym for the Arabic name of ISIL.
Noting that the attackers in Istanbul wore suicide vests, Brennan said that the strategy to prevent further attacks is complicated by a "determined enemy" not concerned with getting away and the fact that making a suicide vest is "not that difficult."

NASA's Juno snaps its 1st picture of Jupiter and its moons
ASA's Juno spacecraft has sent its first photograph of Jupiter back to Earth.
The high-resolution image, taken by the craft's JunoCam, shows Jupiter and its four largest moons – Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. It was taken at a distance of 10.9 million kilometres from the planet. The photo also captures the alternating light and dark bands of Jupiter's clouds.
Unlike previous spacecraft, which approached Jupiter close to the planet's equator, Juno is coming toward the planet from a higher altitude, over the planet's north pole. This provides images from a unique perspective.

Police respond to "active crime scene" after shots fired in downtown Denver

Denver Police are responding to what they're calling an "active crime scene" in the 1500 block of Wynkoop.
DPD said on Twitter that shots were fired near 15th and Wynkoop and that victims have been transported to an area hospital.
Roads in the area of 15th and Wynkoop will be closed for an extended period of time. Police ask drivers to avoid the area.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

Astronomers release spectacular survey of the distant Universe
Astronomers today (28 June) released spectacular new infrared images of the distant Universe, providing the deepest view ever obtained over a large area of sky. The team, led by Prof Omar Almaini, present their results at the National Astronomy Meeting at the University of Nottingham.
The final data release from the Ultra-Deep Survey (UDS) maps an area four times the size of the full Moon to unprecedented depth. Over 250,000 galaxies have been detected, including several hundred observed within the first billion years after the Big Bang. Astronomers around the world will use the new images to study the early stages of galaxy formation and evolution.

Supreme Court rejects pharmacists' religious rights appeal
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is allowing Washington state to require pharmacies to dispense Plan B or other emergency contraceptives, rejecting an appeal from pharmacists who said they have religious objections to providing the drugs.
The justices' order on Tuesday leaves in place rules first adopted in 2007 following reports that some women had been denied access to emergency contraceptives that are effective when taken within a few days of unprotected sex. Pharmacies must fill lawful prescriptions, but individual pharmacists with moral objections can refer patients to another pharmacist at the same store.
A Ralph's Thriftway pharmacy in Olympia, Washington, and two pharmacists sued, saying the rules required them to violate their religious beliefs.
Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas said they would have heard the appeal.
